way to go california, good looking out! put more hardship on your citizens. don't look at the big picture. just keep setting unrealistic precidents without any practicality. stay green and starve. way to go! kill your own economy. bates has no clue. more concerned about some delusional conspiracy than what is happening around her. what a laughing stock.

I don't imagine the moral is very upbeat at the Capitol today.
How would you like to be strapping on your bullet resistant vest while contemplating joining the ranks of the minimum wage earners. |

If this actually goes through, I don't think Arnold will be the 'Governator' for much longer. In fact, I seriously doubt he will even SURVIVE a week after he does this (not encouraging anyone to go out and kill him here).
If there is a budget impasse, then there is usually a good reason for it, and Mr. Schwarzenegger might want to think twice before doing this and actually DEAL with his opposition. |

1 Pay the Private Contractors the Federal Minimum of $6.55 per hour for EACH hour the Contractors BILLS for the Illegal Aliens working and let the Contractors pay the Illegal Aliens $3.00 per hour or less if the Contractors find Illegal Aliens newly arrived in the USA willing to work for less. The Federal Government and CA State Government nor many Cities in CA do nothing about the Illegal Aliens in and employed in CA and appear to encourage the Illegal Aliens to come and stay in CA--- So Employment for them thru Private Contractors, Federal, State, County, City Government is only the next step--- Federal, State, County, City, Private and Relegious provided Welfare, Medical Benefits, Etc for the Illegal Aliens should make up the difference in their low wages the same as it is done for the ones employed by Farmers and others in Private Business--- to provide their food, living space warehousing when not working, medical and other basic needs. USA Tax Payers and/or USA Voting Citizens do not mind at all--just look at the TWO Open Borders, Anmesty for Illegal Aliens, one who want the USA Citizen to speak Spanish---USA Presidential Camdidates the USA Citizen have narrowed their next President down too. Whatever!!! |

1 Sounds like the folks in the positions that pay the most are the ones not doing their jobs. Hourly employees don't approve budgets, state lawmakers do, & it sure seems like they aren't doing their jobs to me. Arnold, start with your pay & work your way down through your cabinet first & then start on the senate. I'll bet a budget gets approved real fast when those folks thinks their pay will be cut!! |

The hacks are the ones that get the vehicles and when someone has to go in they call one of the workers that does not have a vehicle to go in and do whatever needs to be done. Then they want to give the person comp time. Did you notice the state or county always adevertises their good jobs on Sarurday because no one reads the Sat. paper. Then when there is a good job, the hacks always get their appications put in after the selection committee make a choice. That is when you see a person coming into the job that never did an interview. When I got my job, I always wondered why I got the job? I later learned that no one wanted the job because of the pay. When the next step in this profession came. I had to fight my way to get the that job, but the hacks made my life miserable until I had enough time to retire. I out lasted all of their back stabbing. |

No Californian will ever have to work for that. There needs to be a vote, and may be we can lower the governors pay to min. wage.

You have got that right. I am retired Navy and I draw all of my pensions without any offsets. I worked very long hours for 25 years after I retired from the Navy. I am now a true triple dipper. The first thing the woman saaid a SS was you are going to get an offset. I told her to look first aand her eyes got big when she saw my record. She said,"When did you go to work?, i said when I was a teen and I told her one year was missing because I had lost my income tax forms and they can only go so far back. She said,"You dont need anymore quarters because you have more than enough." I always worked. When my ship was in port,I would work as a carpenter, roofer, painter, security guard, and temporary jobs in larger stores. I learned quite bit on these jobs both how to do things and how deal with people. Reading people is a great thing to know when people are always trying to do you in. Dont let anybody get to you and yu will survive. |

I can see it now. When ya wanna find the officer and thank him for finding and arresting the hit drunk that maimed your loved one you'll want to consider looking for him in Mexico where he went in search of honest government and free, no questions asked, no insurance premiums health care.

1 I, too, am retired military (Air Force, 20 years 2 months, 11 days & a few odd hours.) but, unlike you, haven't reached the point of "triple dipping" quite yet. I only have my military retirement & private retirement fund right now. I worked 15 more years after retiring from the Air Force & put every penny I could into a retirement fund. I am only 54 so I still have quite a few more years before I can draw SS benefits & become a true triple dipper. I guess my point is, if I had been forced to take a substantial pay cut during my working years due to the ineptness of elected officials not performing their duties in a timely manner, not only would I not have been able to fund my private retirement account but, I would now be forced to continue working until I could draw SS. The hourly employees of California should not have to suffer due to partisan politics. If they are performing their jobs in a satisfactory manner then, they deserve to be fairly compensated for their work. If the elected officials are not performing their duties in a satisfactory manner then, they should not be compensated for their lack of work. Terminate the bums next election, Arnold included! |

Tell me about the pay. When I made Chief I was making $245 a month in my eighth year. I retired with 22 years as time with over 20 pay. In the Navy we got a benny called "Constructive Time". This is counted for time but not pay. It happens when you are on a minority enlistment and you get a full 4 years for that time which could be 3yrs and 1 day. Then you get constructive time if you ship over 89 days early The latter was supposed to help man ships when sailors were getting out. My first enlistment was a minority enlistment and then I shpped over at least 4 times and that gave me anoher year of service. This time acts as a multiplier for tiime but not pay and 6mos and a day coounts as a full year. So I get 20 year retirement pay at 22yrs time a multiplier of 55%. Before my time Coast Gurd use to get extra retirement pay for gold hash marks and that is 12 years of consectuive good conduct and performance ratings. I understand now that all of these bennies have been eliminated. The biggest thing I found when I got out was how many wanted to cash in on your retirement check as if it should benefit them. I interviewed for at least 40 jobs all were interested in hiring me. I looked very close at what they had to offer not in pay but where I could wind up in 20 years. That is why I took the state job and suffered the low pay until I could get a leg up and climb higher. I used everything I had learned when I got out. I used my GI Bill. went to college for 7 years full time, worked 80 hours a week. One has to be a master of his time since there are only 168 hours in the week.A person can do a lot of things when they want and need to, but only if they have the self-discipline to make this happen. Good luck, dont let anyone cash in your retirement check and as you say, "Terminate the Bums in Nov." |
