One of the most pressing questions Sen. Barack Obama or Sen. John McCain would confront if elected president is how to build on the security gains in Iraq at a time when troop levels have begun to drop.

1 The fact is that our overseas bases, occupation of Iraq and possible wars with Russia, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan are unsustainable. We cannot afford it. Our economy is tanking and the bailout is not and will not work. Other countries are looking at us waiting for us the get weaker and salivating at the thought of an attack on us. We need to completely bring everyone home and rebuild our economy and secure our borders. Why should anyone give two craps about Iraq. They boycott our products and have a surplus yet we keep taking our tax dollars and sending them over there. Insanity. |

1 Rather than falling for the idea that both candidates are the wrong guy, you must first eliminate the obvious - gte rid of Bush and all his cronies. This includes McCain and Palin. You end up with a country full of Democratic leaders who always do things differently. And I seriously doubt they are gonna do things worse than what has already been done. Clinton gave us a surplus. Dont think it could be done again? You think McCain could do such a thing? YOu think he would even try? NOT. |

2 Nevertheless, the pacifist Barack Hussein Obama with deep Islamic roots is more interested in the political power of his cousin in Kenya who supports Shariya Islamic rules in Kenya as Barack’s grandmother and his tribe witnessed that he was born in Kenya as native to the Luo tribe and was not born in Hawaii. Barack cannot care less about victory of our US troops in Iraq or Afghanistan as the citizen of the world who will leave it all to the UN and will bring our US troops home defeated, while awarding victory to radical Islamic regimes and Islamic terrorist like Hamas and Hezbollah as they financially support his campaign. |

Does anybody really believe generals on what must be done to achieve peace? What is going on in Iraq and in Afghanistan is the only thing they got going for them. Nuclear warfare made Generals and Admirals obsolete because they can't assemble an army or a flotilla. A nuclear missile would wipe out any major assembley of forces.
Let's put civilians back in charge. Let's ask Condoleezza Rice what she sees as the future in Iraq and debate that. |

2 Your absolutely right about Obama. Your somewhat right about McCain. He will keep fighting until our economy completely crashes. We cannot afford to keep this up. Our financial status is dropping rapidly and unless we drastically cut spending (that means financing troops overseas) and shore up our borders (what the military would do and is suppose to do) we are headed for very bleak times. Do you think it's coincidental that Korea and Iran renewed their race for nuclear capabilities? I think not. Right now we need someone who is truly fiscally and economically competent. Something that neither McCain or Obama are. We are not fighting Bil Laden in Iraq, that argument was lost long ago. True Bin Laden must die but there is a better way to do that. We had victory in Iraq a long time ago, now we are just spending our money to rebuild a country that has boycotted a lot of our goods and that has a surplus. So why are we still there. |

Good point. Clearly, the number of US troops should be reduced to minimum and other means can be used like the unmanned drones in the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. US Military have all it gets to stop the Islamic terrorists, the Iranian evil regime nukes and dirty bombs as well as the North Korean aggression. It is time to stop the ‘politically correct’ approach when patrolling the streets of cities like Iraq and use other electronic unmanned means from the air, and get better results. Most of our US troops should leave Iraq next year when the emphasis will move to Afghanistan and the border of Pakistan. |

You really *really* believe what you wrote there?
Me? I try to 'balance' things, like McCain: a stronger-than-I (perhaps: I was too young for Vietnam by six months...) Prisoner-of-War-Hero... TIMEOUT: Did you see the cartoon last week? Obama = Judgement McCain = Experience Biden = BOTH Palin = NEITHER timeIN: ... anyway, did you miss the US intelligence reports, claiming we're losing ground in Afghanistan? But... Whoever you're working for, they ought to double your salary... For punctuation and spelling, if nothing else... ZENjd

Baby A...
so you want to apply this Section against Obama? Where were you when Reagan announced 'FROM HIS INAUGURATION' that he KNEW that the Iran Hostages were coming home? There: riddle yourself how Reagan AND Bush-daddy weren't guilty of this? You cannot. ZENjd

In case you haven'r noticed, we're not at war with Iran. We probably will be if that angry old man gets elected. |

Here are the two visions of the Iraq war:
McCain has no strategy other than to keep our troops there as long as there are bad guys to kill. McCain thinks Iraq is the focus of the war on terror. Obama has a strategy to withdraw our combat troops gradually as Iraqi forces take over their own security. Obama has sense enough to know thar Afghanistan should be the focus of the war on terror. |

Yes, but GW Bush fired all the generals 5 years ago, Now, the promoted Colonels and Majors just take orders from Cheney, no more real generals left. |
