Palin brings excitement, but little experience, to ticket

By unexpectedly choosing Sarah Palin as his running mate Friday, Republican John McCain appears to be gambling that the excitement and energy she brings to the ticket will outweigh her obscurity and ...

Can't wait to hear Palin discuss creationist beliefs.

Which means she thinks the earth is about 2500 years old and that at one time in our past, humans domesticated dinosaurs.(Perhaps we gave them cute names too... like T.Rexy or Bronty.. oh I dunno..) I'm sure she'll make better choices though... don't worry she's a self proclaimed 'hockey-mom' too so that should balance things out.

has journalism been reduced to he-said/she-said talking points? as long as you keep the bullets and columns even on pros/cons, it's a story to say that palin is equal to biden now? a hockey mom and 1 year 8 months as governor of a state smaller than la's san fernando valley or chicago should be a heartbeat away from presidency (she was inaguarated dec 07 for christ sake)?

are y'all right wingers crazy? and yall journalists just phoning in your jobs/stories these days from home in your pj's? this is tabloid not journalism.

enough already.

SARAH PALIN IS MORE THAN JUST ANOTHER STATE GOVERNOR.

She shook up Alaska to its roots.

McCain has made a bold and telling move selecting someone with Chief Executive experience – the only one to have any - of the four running for the White House.

Palin has been Govenor for 18 months, a position which is autocratic, and requires no networking, compromise or negotiation as the Congress does.

If she didn't know what the VP did a month ago, can anyone expect her to have made a measured decision about whether she was the best choice to stand as runner up to the oldest potential President we have ever had? He is a man who has had cancer a couple times already and is 72, an age surpassing the mandatory retirement age for careers requiring a high degree of accuracy and responsibility such as commercial airline pilots. His pandering to women with this nomination has had the opposite affect on me, she has no chance of helping get my vote for them.

While I didn't support Hillary I think it's an insult to her and to her supporters to assume that they are satisfied with this choice. Oh, I forgot, issues don't seem to matter anymore.

McCain didn't choose her. His handlers did. She wants to drill in Alaska. Anywhere and everywhere. Every citizen of Alaska gets a kickback. ANWR stands for American National Wildlife Reserve. Why should she care about wuldlife? She likes to kill them anyway.

Obama is the top man on the ticket and has less experience than Palin. It is hysterical how hypocritical people are when they want to support their view. Obama talks change. McCain has the balls to act on it. Just how is Obama going to do all he promised and cut taxes too?? Well some people will fall for anything when you start promising health care, tax cuts, education handouts etc. Obama gives a good speech and has super star quality that equals substance to the blind.

Forced to choose to be ruled by either a black person or a woman? My God, what a painful time for white male voters! Especially on LI, where they've long assumed superiority. ;)

Uh, wow. This seems pretty desperate on McCain's part.

I read an interesting statistic elsewhere earlier tonight: McCain has been running for President longer than this woman has been holding elective office (not counting mayor of Wasilla). He started his exploratory committee in late 2006. She was inaugurated governor in the beginning of 2007.

McCain put his campaign first, and the country last. He selected Palin because he thought she would bring him Hillary's supporters (it'll only bring him the Repub ones, which he already had), not because he believes she is 100% capable of being Commander in Chief of the United States if the need arose. This wasn't "brave", it wasn't "maverick"... it was just plain irresponsible. Playing fast and loose with America's security.

1. How could Palin ever be considered qualified to run the country if needed? We all know that W. set the bar rather low, but she is a joke.
2. If this is an attempt to court Hillary voters, then they all should feel rather offended for having been offered such a paltry substitute.

Are you kidding
a state smaller than the San Fernando valley ????

Alaska is the largest state in the United States in land area at 570,380 square miles (1,477,277 km2), more than twice as large as Texas, the next largest state. It is larger than all but 18 sovereign nations.

Alaska is larger than the combined area of either:

The next 3 largest states: Texas, California, and Montana

she's been in Politics since 1996
Palin served two terms on the Wasilla, Alaska, City Council from 1992 to 1996, and was elected mayor of Wasilla twice, in 1996 and 1999.

she is a two time mayor and the incumbent Governor - December 4, 2006
I'ld say she has more experience than Obama

and......

Joe Biden has been a Senator since Obama was a pre-teen

what's your point ????

Obama is Junior Senator in his first term who has spent more than half of it campaigning for President

your statement also discounts the fact that she was elected to office of mayor twice
so in reality your statement has no basis in truth
typical liberal

Obama is like the Wizard of Oz
a whole lot of smoke and mirrors

True. I neglected the years where she was mayor of a town of 6000. And also the time she spent leading the PTA.

Its about time we have two people outside the machine that are not lawyers and have the interest of the people at the core. The dems and the press have already denounced the choice . What a surprise.!!! I smell a landslide regardless of how "close" the liberal press drums into the stupid people that cant think for themselves.
