The shoes (flip flops) are from China. Walmart is suppose to be pulling them off the shelves.

I love flip flops, and tend to buy multiples at a time. I too purchased flip flips at Walmart in the early spring but of course it was still cold outside so I didn’t wear the shoes until the end of May. I purchased a yellow & blue pair, a red and blue pair, a pink and yellow pair and a solid black pair. For less than $3.00 a pair I though I was getting a bargain. I wore the black pair out to the movies and dinner and buy the time I got home I had the same marks on my feet! The redness turned very puffy, began to blister, and it would not go away until I put a medicated cream on my feet. I thought I must have had some random allergy to something in the flip flop but I had no idea others had experienced the same problem until I saw a report on TV.

its not only those plastic shoes, last year, i had to go to clinic for the same exact rash, I just bought a new pair of slippers from walmart, and recently i bought 2 pairs of sandle type shoes with the plastic toe, and sure enough got the same rash again, took back other pair, that i never wore, and didn't get any response from customer service, so its not only those sandles...

Yikes! Something needs to be done, who knows what is in those shoes!

Do you still have the shoes? If so, on another forum someone posted that a local university lab, tested take out food, for the poster.

Perhaps someone can find a university lab that will test the shoes. The ingredients should be posted on you tube, all over the internet.

What do you think?

Colleen, did you go to the links I posted & see the pictures others have posted?

If you still have the shoes, would you consider attempting to find a university lab that would test them for ingredients?

It is obvious from reading the links I have posted, Walmart is ignoring people who have suffered. Did you take pictures? Did you save your medical reports? Something needs to be done.

I wonder if children's shoes have the same problems. Has anyone heard? Thanks for your post, it is so important to get the word out there. Please post more of your experiences everyone.

Is anyone responsible for themselves any more, or do we all just sue the bejeezus out of everyone for every little thing? Caveat emptor folks - what do you think you're getting for less than $3 a pair?

Excellent and disturbing information. Thank you. Please post this link in as many places as you can. Something is wrong, and the P.R. Damage Control UNITS are on it. When it gets local coverage it is all about how Walmart is recalling the shoes. They read the scripts they are given.

Have you heard any reports about children's shoes? I can not help but wonder.

So you believe everything is left up to the individual? When you go to the store and buy spinach, have you researched what farm this spinach came from? Have you then researched what fertilizers and pesticides were used; the HIV status of every farm worker; the health of every person involved in its transport? After that, you researched the field where the crop was grown to determine if any toxic substances had leached into the soil? Then you moved on to the lettuce section, and started the same routine all over again!?!?

Geez, flip-flops give me a rash, just thinking about them. Either get real shoes, with an anchoring heel on them or just go bare foot.

People that wear floppy or sloppy footwear get what they deserve. Sore feet!

Come to think of it, this WALMart underwear is giving me a rash too. On second thought, it may not be the underwear after all.

Perhaps it is the "Made In China" laundry ingredients?

Or perhaps it is the US messing around with China's products to make it seem as though China is so toxic. China has been taking over much too rapidly in the past few years and they would like to put a stop to it.

I think it would be wise to purchase products of quality and paying the extra cost than suffer the consequence. Inexpensive flip flops/shoes/sandals/etc are tempting, but have you thought about why you are paying that price? There are reasons why major corporations endorse countries such as China to manufacture their products: cheap labour and materials. I agree that companies are responsible for producing quality goods. However, we are responsible to weigh/know/research the pros and cons on the items we buy, calculating our budget to check if we can afford more than $3, and if we truly need them. Afterall, has the justice system ever condoned ignorance? If you have an issue, make it known politely and ensure it is documented and resolved. Walmart has stopped selling the flip-flops and are doing further testing for preventative measures. Only 10 cases were reported out of 7 million customers who have purchased the Sun and Sand flip flops. What does that tell you? And please don't provide inane explanation.

I bought two pairs (black & brown) of boots by Nine & Co from Kohls. Both pair gave me the exact same "burn" where the ankle area rubs against my skin. I have a permanent scar that goes around each ankle where the boot rubbed.
It took over 4 months to heal. Has anyone else had issues with shoes other than the walmart flip flops? These are ankle boots made by Nine & Co and yes, they are made in China.

A permanent scar does not heal in four months.
