To many white voters, race still matters

MUNFORDVILLE, Ky. - Mike Rife is white, a semiretired factory worker with a high school education and a 2-foot-square sign on his lawn that makes friends and neighbors flip him the finger as they drive by.

Okay, I already knew that some white people wouldn't bring themselves to vote for Obama, but I am no more enlightened as to why than I was before I read this article. What was the point?

shh, don't mention the fact that obama is receiving black votes because of the color of his skin-that's racist. might Kentuckians not vote for a black man with the farthest left voting record in the Senate-hmm, there's a thought.

Blacks are championed for voting their race while whites, Asians, Hispanics and everyone else is scorned and labled “racist” for voting for anyone but Obama.

It won’t work, Obama cheerleaders.

If race is held out as a valid reason to vote FOR someone, it must also be a valid reason to vote AGAINST someone. Race is, frankly, the least of Obama’s problems.

Poor Obama. Always the victim.

Not a great quality in a presidential candidate.

Race certainly still matters to Obama's wife and his pals Jeremiah Wright and Louis Farrakhan.

Obama is lucky the media continues to follow him around as if was a little puppy and clean up after him when he wets the floor.

Obama is like a spoiled kindergartner struggling to be the big boy on the playground, but who is actually the first to cry and yell for the teacher when someone looks at him cross-eyed.

Obama is a 90-pound weakling who will get sand kicked in his face by the bullies on the beach named Ahmadinejad, Chavez, etc. etc. etc.

Obama is not presidential material. Period.

It's not that there are too many white voters in some of the rural communities in our country, it's that there are too many white bigots!

It's the cover story the media is promoting for the Obama campaign, nothing more.

Yesterday Obama was whining that he would lose in Kentucky because of Fox News. LOL

Excuses, excuses, excuses. Weak, weak, weak. Whine, whine, whine.

Obama still can't close the deal because he is a deeply flawed candidate.

He and his hard-left coalition of hate will lose the election and destroy the Democratic Party. Keep watching.

A thought experiment, send an African-American with a Hillary Clinton tee shirt on through the black community in Chicago and see how he is treated.

We will all benefit when Mr. Obama is sworn in next January. My guess is that once all the "haters" see how much good will come of that, they'll claim they voted for him too.
It is disgusting that in 2008 people will not vote on the qualifications and experience of the candidates. Unfortunately there are some people out there where race matters. But it is just not some White voters that fall into this category. Why are 90% plus of the Democratic Black voters voting for Obama? No other group votes in that solid of numbers. Racism is definitely playing a role in the Democratic Primaries on both sides.

OK, I get it.
Apparently the enlightened voters who find it hard to vote for someone who is only 1/2 white would be anxiously willing to vote for a woman.
Yeah, sure. Neither Obama or Clinton would get the votes of this cohort.

It's obvious the Obama clan themselves "have issues with race" to work out.

Twenty-five years clapping in the pews and dancing in the aisles of Uncle Jeremiah's anti-white, anti-Semitic and anti-American speaks volumes about the Obama's attitudes toward race.

Unbelievable.

Not voting for him because he is black is as bad as celebrities and blacks voting for him JUST BECAUSE he is black.

I am suspicious of him because of his corrupt dealings in Chicago and he has bad ideas (everyone having insurance instead of healthcare.. insurance can still charge high premiums, exclude coverages and charge high copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles; his bad economic strategies and poor foreign policy.)

I would never vote OR NOT VOTE for someone based on their color or sex.

I vote for he best candidate but Obama is NOT the best candidate.

I guess we'll never know the answer to your question since Obama will never become President. The "haters" will win.

If Obama becomes President, it could be great for this country. The world won't end, Obama will be a decent President (Bush isn't exactly a tough act to follow), and a lot of these Kentucky folks will see that race isn't such a big deal.

A black person votes for a black candidate based on the color of their skin. That is not racism, rather it's called unity.

A white person votes for a white candidate instead of a black candidate based on the color of their skin. That is called racism.

Black against white racism does not exist here in the United States of America. Racism is only written about when it's the white people doing it!

I am very sensitive to racism as my family is racially integrated with White, Black and Hispanic races. I find it interesting how the media rarely reports any racism against white people.

This article made me want to throw up. I am ashamed that in this day and age, in the year 2008, this is still an issue.
