Then they go home and apply for citizenship just like my grandfather did. Like every law abiding immigrant to this country does.

Not loopholes, but, rather, deliberate misinterpretation of the law.
Parents are fully responsible for giving birth to their children, and are held responsible for them until the children become of age. This doesn't change when the parents are deported. The burden to the states to care for abandoned children would be enormous, and no state should be held responsible for the creation of children with intent to defraud and break US law.
Anchor babies are just that - produced with intent to defraud and break federal law. IMO, no one should be rewarded for using innocent flesh as a bargaining chip, no matter who they are or how poor they are.
If those in power in this country WANTED to get rid of illegal aliens, they have the ability to do it swiftly and completely. That they have not even bothered to try speaks volumes about the real intent of those in power, and what they think of the American people.
Anchor children are far better off with their deported parents, than in an orphanage. To keep the parents for the sake of the anchor child solves nothing; the enormous cost to taxpayers of doing so would still destroy us economically.
