Scientists urge U.S. to protect economy from climate

Eight scientific organizations urged the next U.S. president to help protect the country from climate change by pushing for increased funding for research and forecasting, saying about $2 trillion of U.S. economic output could be hurt by storms, floods and droughts.

Gradually, even global warming deniers will figure out that it is more costly to ignore climate change than to mitigate it.

Why do all these scientists go after America?
Yes we are a contributor, but not the biggest.

I notice they don't seem to even try to do anything with China, India or Russia.

American's are doing our part slowly, paradigm change is slow. Painfully slow at times, but we'll get there.

Every American law against pollution has driven American industry to third world countries that pollute without regard to the consequences. Handicapping the U.S. is a recipe for disaster.

It's hard to trust scientists who have convinced Congress that they should work for solutions to global warming at taxpayer expense.

There is no climate change. There is no global warming. Scientists who support these whacky socialist theories should be stripped of their credentials.

I've been dedicating 6-8 hours a day for years researching all the issues and the direction the US and world has been heading.

I was a "moron" when I tried to tell the people about the NAU. I was a "nut" when I tried to tell people about the superhighway, global warming or any other issue that now is current news.

I have one more warning for Americans. Certain people in the Whitehouse, as some refer to as Neo-cons are not really the basis of our problem.

I beseach everyone, not just Americans, everyone in "all countries" to rent and watch "The Corporation" documentory.

Last night Aug 21st, I watched it for the first time. I was appalled, my stomach turned but all the research, articles, opinions and issues merged together into understanding.

species extintion
cover-ups
scandals
pollution
poverty
conflicts
war profiteering
explotation
resource privitation
cancer
illness
global warming
deforestation
eco-system
oil
morality

Everything came together and made sense.

Rent this documentory and come to your own conclusions. But watch it. You can also rent "Everything's Cool" and see how Exxon and other corporations give payouts to government to discredit global warming.

I heard on the news a week or two ago where they want to give corporations the power to mandate safety of the environment over themselves.

Act now, while we still can.

E-mail this to your friends, please, rent it, watch it, educate your friends.

With 5% of the earths population the US consumes over a quarter of the natural resources and produces the same amount in pollutants.

Pollution controls have not hurt US industry at all. Manufacturing has moved oversees because of cheap slave labor and tax incentives pushed through congress by conservatives and neo-liberals.

It's all lies! And we as tax-paying Americans are very damn tired of it.

These so-called 'enviornmentalists' have had it very easy by "manipulating" out government into believing that we are on our way to destruction IF we don't do WHAT THEY want!

The truth is that they've grown to be so accostomed to NOT working like the rest of us, and yet reaching to grab their 'fat check' with their fat little hand and put it in the bank! They've done this for decades and so THE PARTY IF OVER. They need to get to work like the rest of us hard-working Americans instead of falling into the 'hopefullness' hands of us that have been forking it out for them and us.

The government is easily swayed by these 'free-loading' asses that they sign a bill and give them 10 more years of "RESEARCH"....and they produce a stupid smile for the cameras when they go on TV, and you know the rest....nothing is done and nothing is learned and after the money is gone...guess what? Another friggin' lie comes in...and it begins another cycle of b/shit!

American jobs going overseas began with jimmy carter granting most favored trade status to China 30 years ago. The liberals in Congress pushed environmental laws through and American industry fled to other countries to avoid the high costs of environmental compliance.

Corporations are still downsizing because of America's noncompetetitive wage scale and because of expensive government labor regulations like Affirmative Action and the high costs of complying with OSHA. Both of the last were signed into law by Richard Nixon.

Corporations will continue to send jobs and pollution overseas and the liberal Congress will continue to handicap business and industry until America becomes a second class nation.

Climate change is just another hoax and an excuse for Congress to tax more and spend more. Crackpot scientists are always looking for ways to line their pockets with easy grant money. It is time for house cleaning in Congress.

Finally someone has explained to me how General Motors has gone from the largest corporation in U.S. to on the brink of collapse. It's all those nasty clean air requirements and that pesky mileage requirement for those luxury SUV's that everyone seemed to enjoy driving. OOP's times do change and go ahead and ignore climate change. Those nasty hurricanes don't come up all that often now do they??

I looked toward the government more before I watched "The Corporations". But now I realise it is mostly greedy people in Congress (corruption, payoffs) and not a party issue.

Fox News has covered up an issue over milk that has been effecting our children for years.

The people doing the study fought back as whistleblowers. They lost an appeal because the Supreme Court ruled that media lying to the people is not illegal. Go figure.

Corporations were thrilled over 9/11 because it doubled their shareholders profits.

People were killed for protesting over water after it was privitised by corporations. They couldn't even collect rainwater.

The US talks about doing the same (privitising water).

The WTO is discussed in the documentory.

Internationalism means "bigger" profits for corportations.

Profit is the only goal of Corporations, and it stands above people, laws, environment, water, food and even lives.

That's only a little bit of what the documentory taught me.

Eight groups including liberal university type unions and liberal organizations are aiming at blackmailing the government to handle them 9 billion dollars ‘to save’ the world from catastrophic disaster that as they predicted is due soon on planet earth.
The liberal union groups that relates to 71 universities threatened the presidential candidates McCain and Obama with new Hurricanes like the one that destroyed New Orleans if they will not get the 9 billion dollars from the government.
The partisan union organization claimed that they need the 9 billion of the American taxpayer dollars to study ‘the climate changes’ which was unheard of during hundreds of years of climate studies history.
Clearly, it will be the worst blackmailing type robbery in US history of 9 billion dollars from US government with threats of horrific weather.
The problem may be even worse when they will ask for 18 billion dollars next year based on their findings about ‘the end of the world’.

You mean, weather?
There's ALWAYS been floods, storms, blizzards and tornadoes, and there's NO scientific organization that can change, start or stop any of them.
Hell, they can't predict what the WEATHER will be like next week!
But, you go ahead and follow the man-made climate change lemmings, you seem very adapt at it.

I'd like to know who is going to protect us from the groups of "scientists" that are trying to justify their existence, by making wild-ass assertions to make sure they get their slice of the federal funding.
