CNN investigates McCain's 'greatest moral failure'

Yeah, I was wondering when they'd get around to this topic.

They need to examine his Keating mess too. That ended Senator John Glenn's career. I doubt by today's standards McCain would have gotten off so lightly.

And his military inconsistencies too. Why the closed medical records hiding his PTSD? Why the bizarre hostility to MIA-POW efforts? Why such a crappy voting record on behalf of vet concerns? Why so many medals for so little combat time?

The vetting of McCain has just begun since there wasn't much chance for it in that eclipsed primary they had. These are all things that raise serious doubts.

I wonder what "white evangelicals" think about that? Let me guess McCain will say i was a POW, Obama is unamerican or exotic and that will make his infidelity OK with the self righteous evangelicals.

The liberal leftist media, spearheaded by CNN, is turning over every rock in an attempt to find something on JOHN MCCAIN.

When they cannot find anything, they will create it. You will hear about "anonymous" sources have see this and that, heard this and that.

At least Obama is willing to establish abortion SOLUTIONS as part of his administration.

Mr. Perot told Newsweek magazine that Mr. McCain "is the classic opportunist" who is always reaching for "attention and glory." "Other POWs won't even sit at the same table with him," the article quoted Mr. Perot as saying.

Mr. McCain could not be reached for comment Thursday, and his campaign didn't return telephone calls. But the Arizona senator for years has denied the claims Mr. Perot made in the Newsweek story. Mr. Perot and Mr. McCain have often clashed. Their relationship goes back to when Mr. McCain was a POW in Hanoi. Mr. Perot told Newsweek that at one point he took care of Mr. McCain's family after Mr. McCain's former wife was in a serious car accident.

"After he came home, he walked with a limp, she [Carol McCain] walked with a limp. So he threw her over for a poster girl with big money from Arizona [Cindy McCain, his current wife], and the rest is history," Mr. Perot said.

It was interesting, then, to see this report in the UK’s Daily Mail about Mrs. McCain — the first one — who is “seldom seen and rarely written about, despite being mother to McCain’s three eldest children.”
[H]ad events turned out differently, it would be she, rather than Cindy, who would be vying to be First Lady. She is McCain’s first wife, Carol, who was a famous beauty and a successful swimwear model when they married in 1965.

She was the woman McCain dreamed of during his long incarceration and torture in Vietnam’s infamous ‘Hanoi Hilton’ prison and the woman who faithfully stayed at home looking after the children and waiting anxiously for news.

But when McCain returned to America in 1973 to a fanfare of publicity and a handshake from Richard Nixon, he discovered his wife had been disfigured in a terrible car crash three years earlier…. When Carol was discharged from hospital after six months of life-saving surgery, the prognosis was bleak. In order to save her legs, surgeons had been forced to cut away huge sections of shattered bone, taking with it her tall, willowy figure. She was confined to a wheelchair and was forced to use a catheter.
Through sheer hard work, Carol learned to walk again. But when John McCain came home from Vietnam, she had gained a lot of weight and bore little resemblance to her old self.

“My marriage ended because John McCain didn’t want to be 40, he wanted to be 25,” she said.“You know that happens … it just does.”
It’s quite a painful story, involving physical difficulties, infidelity, and divorce. McCain’s first wife insists she’s not bitter, but clearly the circumstances surrounding her accident and the break-up of her family are an unpleasant subject.

Now, I should clarify that as far as I’m concerned, McCain’s marital difficulties and adultery aren’t especially significant in this campaign, especially years later. I’m inclined to see a distinction made between public and private worlds. I defended Bill Clinton, and said his personal controversies had no bearing on his ability to be a good candidate and a good president, so I can’t very well turn around and say the opposite about McCain, no matter how badly he treated his first wife.

But therein lies the point: if Clinton’s personal history was a matter of tremendous national significance as a candidate and as a president, then it’s not unreasonable to wonder why McCain isn’t subjected to the same scrutiny. I’d prefer both issues are off the table, but I’m hard pressed to imagine why only Democratic presidential candidates’ personal lives are of interest in the context of a national campaign.

For that matter, if and when the U.S. media gives this any attention at all, it’ll be worth keeping an eye on the religious right. From an article I wrote two years ago:

Carrie Gordon Earll, a spokesperson for Dobson’s Focus on the Family, recently made it clear that the adultery issue hasn’t lost any of its toxicity among evangelicals.“If you have a politician, an elected official, and they can’t be trusted in their own marriage, how can I trust them with the budget? How can I trust them with national security?” she asked me. Although Earll was reluctant to discuss specific politicians, she noted that a candidate who “had an affair and then moved on and restored that marriage” might find forgiveness with Christian conservatives, but someone “who had an affair and then left his wife” would not.

And guess who that applies to?

How can someone with no moral values at all have a greatest moral failure?

The implication of the story is that McCain made one mistake long long ago and has done nothing untoward since. This is just more subtle lying for McCain. McCain has repeatedly demonstrated he has no morals in areas like approving of the bush torture policy, approving the pat act, approving spying on innocent American citizens, approving of fixed elections, approving of completely immoral USSC justices like Alito, Scalia, Roberts and Thomas; not to mention the genocide in the middle east.

Is this just more pro-McCain balderdash?

We need some less biased reporting about McCain so we can see through all the lies in his favor.

This was the best the Republican party could find? I usually vote republican, voted for Reagan, both Bush(s) for President, Jeb and Charlie Crist for Governor, but I can NOT vote for this man. I acknowledge his service to our country as a combat pilot and POW but as a human being he has the morals of an ally cat. In addition, he lacks the knowledge and experience necessary to lead this country in an era where science and technology are this countries path to renewed success. He has admitted to not even knowing how to operate a computer.

We as a country are looking in the face of total collapse, while our elected officials bury their heads in the sand. Other countries, France, Germany, Japan to name a few all have high speed rail systems in place. Florida voted for such a system and Jeb over turned that vote. Why because the oil companies lined the Bush pockets once again. McCain’s answer, drill, drill, drill… again the oil companies. Why can’t we as a country stand up and say enough is enough, make any lobbying of our politicians illegal. Hold them accountable and limit their terms in office.

If the worst that CNN claims that McCain did is true, then perhaps he was just ahead of his time.

When is CNN going to investigate Obama Muslim back ground! I won't hold my breath!

McCain has been vetted out the wazoo -it's Mr. Obama that remains a complete mystery. As for McCain's first marriage -that was 25 years ago -- not yesterday -- and Carol McCain says she still adores her ex-husband. "My marriage ended because when John returned from Vietnam he didn’t want to be 40, he wanted to be 25. You know that happens...it just does.’“He just wanted to make up for lost time.”’ Friends confirm she has remained friends with McCain and backed him in all his campaigns. "He's a good guy. We are still friends. He is the best man for president." She even has a bumper strip on her car for him.

Now if that's all the liberal media and their cohorts want to concentrate on along go for it- that was then and this is now and as long as his ex-wife holds nothing against him what gives total strangers the right to throw stones at him.
