All U.S. adults overweight within 40 years?

Put down that burger and fries and consider this: a new study says that every American adult could be overweight in 40 years. We’re actually not so far away now with two-thirds of the population already overweight.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... nothing worth having is easy (like a long, healthy life)

This article is predicated on an assumption:

"..if the trends of the last 30 years hold up..."

Experience tells us that
a) American trends rarely last a generation.
b) Smeone comes up with a counter-trend; and it sweeps the nation.

Look for computerized, electrode enabled weight loss and muscle building technologies; à la "The Terminal Man."

Look, also for new 'gene enhancing' practices such as the "SUPERMOUSE" variety.

Once again I'm a trend leader. I've always prided myself on being ahead of the curve.

i think if the US stop making healthy food less expensive and make junk food a little more expensive then people in the US will lose weight.

What does that have to do with weight loss?

I am past 70, and have had no problem keeping to my ideal weight for at least 10 years, whereas during my working life doing so was far from easy. (I was sometimes 10 or 15 pounds above it.) I think it was because I could not make plenty of time for exercise and because the stress in my working environment was such that from time to time I used food as a buffer against stress, which is not a good idea.

I'm worried about my OWN body NOW rather than the rest of the country's physique 40 years from now. Burn more calories than you take in. There's no secret magic to it although I wish like hell there was!

Well, I wouldn't doubt it. Todays children are raised from the cradle to sit on their asses in front of the computers, with IPODS in their ears and spend hours in front of the idiot box,(in most cases sitting right next to their parents). Gone are the days when we send out kids outside to play and excercise. I had to laugh the other day listening to two mothers in Central Park scheduling a "play date" because "junior's schedule is just to busy." When I was coming up, you took your butt outside and played with your friends. You walked around the corner to see ifyour friend was home. What is this "schedule a play date" nonsense?

How many kids spend an hour every day OUTSIDE engaging in physical activity.
I mowed lawns, shoveled snow and biked two miles to the baseball field every day in the summer when it didn't rain.

Kids today sit around on their lazy azz and fondle electronic gadgets/toys when they aren't at MY SPACE or searching for porn.
