If we allow the Catholics to dictate public policy based on their doctrines, we also in fairness and equality have to allow Shari Law by the Muslims, and Jehovah Witnesses to be allowed to ban surgery, or should Christen Scientists be allowed to dictate whether there are prescription drugs? Perhaps some nut case fundamentalist sect could then declare clitoral circumcision law?
This garbage being pushed by the Republicons, will take them down as it is shining a very bright light on who they really are conspiring to instill a Taliban like authority within America paralleled to the three branches of Government
And neither Mitt nor Santorum can win if this is still an issue in the general.

I want access to dental care. Where's my free toothbrush?
I don't know what happened to my post-- or maybe you thought this so clever you posted it on multiple threads-- but your free toothbrush is at the DENTIST. When you get a CHECK-UP.

In being a smart ass, you've illustrated the point perfectly.

And you miss the point, anyway. IF men and women are granted health insurance, and IF 'preventative care' is included in that insurance, then birth control MUST be part of it, per the 14th Amendment of the Constitution.

the 14th Ammendment doesn't mention BC. Besides the 1rst would trump it. There is a reason it is first.

The bottom line is the Catholic faith is based on hypocrisy. They idolize and worship the Pope, treat him like a God. He is not. There is only one God and it isn't the Pope. They smoke and drink and get drunk. They molest the children of the church. A large percentage of the priests are gay and the nuns lesbian which the Catholic church preaches against. Myself, I accept people and whatever lifestyle they chose. Who are we to judge? God made everyone. The Catholic faith is against birth control but the majority of those that practice the Catholic faith are just like ever other human being with weaknesses. They will go out and copulate with anyone they can, make more and more children for the tax payers to support. Come on Catholic church. Get off your self made pedastal. Your idea of no birth control stinks. Either accept the idea of birth control or tell your perisheners to practice self control. Especially the men of your faith because the guys have the idea that the more ladies they sleep with is another just another trophy on their shelf.
Another typical uninformed liberal rant.
If you don't like the Catholic church, don't go. E-Z-P-Z.
What do you think you're gaining by posting lies and displaying the very hatred you supposedly detest?
Most priests and nuns are gay and lesbian?
Why would they take that job then?
Catholic men are whores and non-Catholics aren't?
Why would they attend just to be in contempt?
The Catholic church doesn't have a right to their beliefs, but you do?
Who are you,or the Government,to dictate their policy?

They take the job because it is drummed into them from birth that if they engage in gay sex, or have gay feelings, that they are going to hell, and aren't welcome in the church.

So, when adolesence rolls around, and a chance to enter the priesthood or the novitiate arises, they realize a chance to reconcile their feelings with their faith, and a way to permanently (they assume) render impotent the forbidden feelings inside of them.

This, however, doesn't make them pedophiles. But it DOES speak to a real problem with Catholic doctrine.

All preventive care isn't being mandated to be provided for "free" at no cost to the insured.

It's hard to even respond to the level of silliness in your comment.
I've seen enough of your comments to know you're a smart guy,,,,but.
It would seem obvious you've never set foot in a Catholic church, sat through a mass or have a clue what goes on in a Catholic school if you actually believe what you posted here.
Through experience, not opinion,I can say with confidence you're 180 degrees off on what you just posted.
But I suppose my biggest problem here is with the Gov't. trying to dictate the policy of the Catholic church.
If the church and state are to be seperate it should work both ways.
Arguing our opposite opinions would accomplish nothing.

Makes one wonder, you think Jesus would have sided with women's healthcare needs or small-minded political rhetoric?

<quoted text>You are so right about that! A church is a house of worship and any business outside the worship house is NOT protected by the freedom of worship clause. If they are required to be equal opportunity employers because they receive government tax breaks and funding, then they are to follow the rules like every business in America does.
Exactly.

And where is the outrage overage of prosthetic penile pump implants, Viagra, vasectomies and male sexual dysfunction therapy... Nope - it's all about prescription birth control pills for women, when 98% of American Catholic women use them anyway, at some point in their lives.

God bless those silly old Republican men - they are making themselves easy to defeat.

And where is the outrage over coverage of vasectomies? That little contradiction is not getting much attention - not to mention prosthetic penile pump implants, and male sexual dysfunction therapy...

Prosthetic penile pump implants, Viagra, and male sexual dysfunction therapy aren't contraceptives. Duh.

And, no one's forcing them to be paid for at not cost to the end user.

Super-informed post, Marie! Good grasp of the issue! We need more gyno-centric posts here.

Did vasectomies get mandated for employers to absorb 100% of the cost?

(why not? does the 14th Amenedment exclude men?)

No, they did not.

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Aries

Take care today Aries, because the emotional landscape in your neighborhood will be full of pitfalls during the coming fortnight, as it has been since the Solar Eclipse on May 20. The more convinced you are that you're right, the harder it will be to navigate your way around forthcoming events. If you feel resentful of someone, perhaps a neighbor or sibling, you need to get your feelings out in the open, rather than burying them deeper, where they'll fester and lead to more problems in the long run.
