So.....if she pumps or uses formula (e-gads!) will that suffice? No, it will not suffice. Her newborn has special needs and raising him require more than the mere presence of breastmilk or formula. It will require the attention and time of BOTH his parents for him to thrive and reach his full potential. This newborn would also benefit from having his extended family around to care for him. That family is in Alaska, not Washington DC. Is taking this high profile job in Trig's best interests? What makes you think Dad is a stay at home dad? I have heard him described as a commercial fisherman, a snowmobile racer and belatedly as having an oil company job, but never once was he described as a stay at home dad. He barely held the kid during his wife's speech, Cindy McCain had him most of the time, when she handed him to his father, Dad held hiom a short while before passing him like a football to the youngest daughter who is what, seven? who licked her hands and rubbed her spitty hand on the baby's head, and poked at his eyes while Dad sat by oblivious. Does this sound like smart parenting, handing a special needs newborn off to a 7 year old sitting next to you and then not paying the slightest bit of attention to either?? Then, factor in the 17 year old about to have a newborn baby. She's dealing with pregnancy, motherhood and a potential marriage at an immature age. She and her child will not only need BOTH her parents, but the support of Dad-to-be's family for this to work. It's going to be a rocky road, and these two children should be her priority. Dragging them away from their extended network of family and friends seems like a poor exercise of judgement, and it seems selfish. Clearly her family comes second to her ambition. Will our country's needs come second to her ego and her desire to leave a proud legacy, as Bush has shown?

NYU Class of 2012 wrote: The AP report also showed how Palin's champions have exaggerated the Alaskan governor's 'acheivements': MCCAIN: "She's been governor of our largest state, in charge of 20 percent of America's energy supply
She's responsible for 20 percent of the nation's energy supply. I'm entertained by the comparison and I hope we can keep making that comparison that running a political campaign is somehow comparable to being the executive of the largest state in America," he said in an interview with ABC News' Charles Gibson. THE FACTS: McCain's phrasing exaggerates both claims. Palin is governor of a state that ranks second nationally in crude oil production, but she's no more "responsible" for that resource than President Bush was when he was governor of Texas, another oil-producing state. In fact, her primary power is the ability to tax oil, which she did in concert with the Alaska Legislature. And where Alaska is the largest state in America, McCain could as easily have called it the 47th largest state by population. MCCAIN: "She's the commander of the Alaska National Guard.
She has been in charge, and she has had national security as one of her primary responsibilities," he said on ABC. THE FACTS: While governors are in charge of their state guard units, that authority ends whenever those units are called to actual military service. When guard units are deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan, for example, they assume those duties under "federal status," which means they report to the Defense Department, not their governors. Alaska's national guard units have a total of about 4,200 personnel, among the smallest of state guard organizations. FORMER ARKANSAS GOV. MIKE HUCKABEE: Palin "got more votes running for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska than Joe Biden got running for president of the United States." THE FACTS: A whopper. Palin got 616 votes in the 1996 mayor's election, and got 909 in her 1999 re-election race, for a total of 1,525. Biden dropped out of the race after the Iowa caucuses, but he still got 76,165 votes in 23 states and the District of Columbia where he was on the ballot during the 2008 presidential primaries. FORMER MASSACHUSETTS GOV. MITT ROMNEY: "We need change, all right change from a liberal Washington to a conservative Washington! We have a prescription for every American who wants change in Washington throw out the big-government liberals, and elect John McCain and Sarah Palin." THE FACTS: A Back-to-the-Future moment. George W. Bush, a conservative Republican, has been president for nearly eight years. And until last year, Republicans controlled Congress. Only since January 2007 have Democrats have been in charge of the House and Senate. The tax review was based on Obama's plan, but did not account for how he would fund all his promises. The 250K floor for tax increases will drop a long way to pay for all the new "entitlements".

I can hardly wait to see the spanking that Obama and Biden will give to the substance-less Repugnant candidates when the debates come around. The Repugs should be afraid....very afraid. It is about time we followed the example of the rest of the world by voting for a presidential candidate who is top of the class (at Harvard, no less!!)

Face the fact that if this were a man with five children,(one knocked up and one with special needs) you wouldn't question it...not once. I never said that dad was a "stay at home" dad. Lets face it, the days when families can afford to have a parent at home full time are gone.

The poster indicated that a father could not properly nurture a child because he can not lactate...as if the ability to produce milk makes a anyone a good parent.

So as a sitting Vice-President of the United States you are saying Trig would not have access living in Washington D.C. for the first 8 years of his life - to quality care, for all of his special needs? Do you hear how stupid that sounds? He is the son of the Vice President. Extended network of family? Like who - cousins, aunts, uncles? Are you Ray Barones mother? Thanks for your critique on Dad's Dad skills, and on the little girls little girl skills. "spitty hand"? Seriously? Unbelievable

I was seven when my twin brothers came along. I have to admit that I might have gotten some "spit" on them. I was allowed to hold them (e-gads!) Perhaps the poster has her youngest encased in a plastic bubble so she won't have "spitty hands" touching her/his head. What really bothers me is that this prespective is most likely from a woman. NYU Class of 2012 wrote: PALIN: "I have protected the taxpayers by vetoing wasteful spending
and championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress. I told the Congress 'thanks but no thanks' for that Bridge to Nowhere." THE FACTS: As mayor of Wasilla, Palin hired a lobbyist and traveled to Washington annually to support earmarks for the town totaling $27 million. In her two years as governor, Alaska has requested nearly $750 million in special federal spending, by far the largest per-capita request in the nation. While Palin notes she rejected plans to build a $398 million bridge from Ketchikan to an island with 50 residents and an airport, that opposition came only after the plan was ridiculed nationally as a "bridge to nowhere." PALIN: "There is much to like and admire about our opponent. But listening to him speak, it's easy to forget that this is a man who has authored two memoirs but not a single major law or reform not even in the state senate." THE FACTS: Compared to McCain and his two decades in the Senate, Obama does have a more meager record. But he has worked with Republicans to pass legislation that expanded efforts to intercept illegal shipments of weapons of mass destruction and to help destroy conventional weapons stockpiles. The legislation became law last year. To demean that accomplishment would be to also demean the work of Republican Sen. Richard Lugar of Indiana, a respected foreign policy voice in the Senate. In Illinois, he was the leader on two big, contentious measures in Illinois: studying racial profiling by police and requiring recordings of interrogations in potential death penalty cases. He also successfully co-sponsored major ethics reform legislation. PALIN: "The Democratic nominee for president supports plans to raise income taxes, raise payroll taxes, raise investment income taxes, raise the death tax, raise business taxes, and increase the tax burden on the American people by hundreds of billions of dollars." THE FACTS: The Tax Policy Center, a think tank run jointly by the Brookings Institution and the Urban Institute, concluded that Obama's plan would increase after-tax income for middle-income taxpayers by about 5 percent by 2012, or nearly $2,200 annually. McCain's plan, which cuts taxes across all income levels, would raise after tax-income for middle-income taxpayers by 3 percent, the center concluded. Obama would provide $80 billion in tax breaks, mainly for poor workers and the elderly, including tripling the Earned Income Tax Credit for minimum-wage workers and higher credits for larger families. He also would raise income taxes, capital gains and dividend taxes on the wealthiest. He would raise payroll taxes on taxpayers with incomes above $250,000, and he would raise corporate taxes. Small businesses that make more than $250,000 a year would see taxes rise. THATS ALL I GOTTA SAY OBAMA/BIDEN 08 Really YOU have nothing to say. Copying a bias blog and calling it fact? Your a lot like Biden, a plagiarist. Do you have an original thought or would you have to check with msnbc? Thanks for playing

That shot of her fixing her brothers hair was one of the most beautiful things I've seen in this whole ugly political process, doesn't get any better than that (and may have gotten even more votes). He should be thankful he has a caring big sister.

Anyone with a high school diploma knows that pregnancy after the age of 40 is very risky for the mother and even more risky for the fetus. Her decision was reckless and very irresponsible. And you cut hair, I can smell the jealousy. Libs are so concerned about everyone not telling them what to do with thier fetus, and seem to be the first with an opion of what VP Palin should have done with hers. Hippo-crate!

Absolutely briliant stroke of executive decision making. And Obama's extensive experience running, er, oh, um, let's see... lead him to this policy. No worries. I'm sure he'll change his tune on this issue too. Lest we forget that Pelosi showed just how brilliant she was last week on Meet the Press, when she didn't know what "fossil fuel" means. LMAO! I guess she's too busy managing her finances, one of which includes a Napa Valley vineyard worth $20 million. Its farm workers are non-union. Further, she is part-owner of the Hotel Auberge du Soleil, where the cheapest room is $450 per night. The hotels 250 employees are non-union. And America expects the Democrats to fix the energy crisis? They're so busy throwing stones at the McCain's family wealth, they forget the likes of the Pelosi and Kennedy clans, just to name a few. And anyone who thinks they will see more of their money with the Obama tax plan better take a closer look at the fine print. Their plan eliminates the cap on Social Security. So at the end of the year (mid November through end of December), Social Security deductions will continue. For me, that's close to 1K over 3 paychecks. Under Obama's "tax break", I might see an additional $250 at the most. In the end, I'll have LESS disposable income. It's called giving with one hand while taking from the other. A real smoke and mirrors shell game!
