Fannie Mae, the largest buyer of American mortgages, said yesterday that it would reduce its earnings by $6.3 billion to correct several years of accounting problems in one of the nation’s biggest financial scandals.
Channing Phillips, a spokesman for the United States attorney for the District of Columbia, confirmed that the investigation of Fannie Mae had concluded but declined to comment on whether prosecutors intended to bring charges against Franklin D. Raines, Fannie’s former chief executive, and J. Timothy Howard, the former chief financial officer.

Franklin Raines, a black man, was defended by democrat members of the black caucus.

Channing Phillips is also black.
Why do democrat criminals get off, and walk away with millions?

Fools to the left of me, jokers to the right, here I am stuck in the middle.

Dems jumping up and down blaming all the usual suspects regardless of their involvement.

Reps jumping up and down blaming all the usual suspects regardless of their involvement.

But neither party taking their own to task on this.

Look at who's really guilty here......

Dubya...guilty. He was still being at dipstick in Texas when this started so not totally.

Mr. Clinton...guilty. It's his signature on that paper. The buck does stop at the Prez doesn't it Demmies?

McCain...guilty.

Obama...guilty.

Biden...guilty.

Dodd, Frank, Gramm, on and on....guilty, guilty, guilty.

Until you guys come to grips with the fact that both your parties are partially guilty in this and clean out the culprits (your own culprits) you are doomed to get screwed like this again.

"glasnos", i feel your pain and i pray it's not a "black thing".....it's without a doubt, a corrupt democrat thing.....these are the very same democrats, like teddy "seriously, i'm a good driver" kennedy, who spearheaded public school bussing.....ever ask yourself, how many of the hundreds of kennedy kids (God bless 'em) ever took those busses out of their neighborhoods, or even WENT to public schools?.....they (democrats) are corrupt in the best sense of the communist and socialist parties.....they want to tell YOU how to live your meager life, while they drive around in limo's and private jets....they are America's version of the polit-bureau(sp?)....they (democrats)are the jessie jackson's and al sharpton's, who would have no lively-hoods if people of all races got along.....their job is to stir the pot......that's all they've ever done and all they ever will do....they've gotten wealthy over poor people's saddness......don't believe me, ask an african-american why he's voting for sen. obama?...ask about which policies sen. obama offers that will affect their lives....then ask them if they know ANY african americans who are voting for sen. mccain?.....you may be enlightened, even if they aren't....let me leave you with this.....while the GREATEST of democratic lies is that non-democrats are stupid, i have something honest to say to that....since LBJ (if not longer), the democrats have gotten poor people to vote overwhelmingly for their party....that's over 45 years poor people have been voting for democrats AND THEY'RE STILL POOR!!!.....so maybe republicans aren't so stupid after all!....enjoy your sunday and don't forget to say a prayer for America!!!

I agree with everything you said except that Pres.Bush and John McCain went to the congress and told them to reign in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and every one of the Dems voted against reform.

It can be expected that Senator McCain will electrify and stimulate crowds of people for the remaining days of the campaign.
With his sharp mind and glowing personality, he'll have everybody's full attention wherever he appears.

Really! McCain was a sponsor of a bill to prevent Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac from melting down. Democrats blocked that bill and prevented a vote in the Senate. Now we taxpayers have a $700 billion bailout obligation.
Thanks to Democrats including Barack Obama who, as a supporter of ACORN, was a lawyer named in a lawsuit against City Bank to force the bank to provide high risk low-income loans. Then Democrats, including Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, and Chuck Schumer blocked 2003 Bush administration legislation from getting out of committee to the Senate floor for a vote. And this happened again in 2005 when John McCain was one of the sponsors of a bill to riegn in Fannie and Freddie. Again, Democrats block this very important legislation.
Remember when Nancy Pelosi said Democrats would reform Congress to stop ethics violations and corruption?! Well, she lied of course!
Instead, Democrats continue to perpetuate corruption which is evident when they put a provision in the bailout bill that would have given ACORN tens of millions of dollars. Why?!! Because ACORN is a Democrat front group and ally. The same ACORN that helped to create the financial meltdown and force us taxpayers for fork out at least $700 billion was now getting special treatment by Democrats. IT'S CALLED CORRUPTION FOLKS!! Democrats are as corrupt as they get!
And what about Barack Obama? Well, he has been a supporter of ACORN his whole career as he stated himself. And in only 3 years as Senator, Obama received the second highest campaign donations from Fannie and Freddie.
Now we have MORONS like you saying that John McCain, one of the people who tried to prevent the ongoing financial meltdown, is avoiding his obligations. LOL
If McCain avoided his "obligations" then what about all the DEMOCRATS that created the financial meltdown with their greed and refusal to listen to the Bush administration's 2003 warnings and the McCain warning in 2005?
YOU KOOL-AID DRINKING LIBS BETTER WAKE UP!

I just wish the morons in this country who think that we need CHANGE so bad, would just go find themselves a desserted island to go live on and set up their own perfect little socialist society. But they wont be happy there either, because it's these types that will never be happy no matter what.

Kucinich is/was a bit ummmm... eccentric for my liking. Same with Paul.

I met Guiliani. liked him (the person) til he pulled that bonehead let's give everyone a head start in the primary bit. What were you thinking man???

On the issues there isn't a one I support, though I find myself farther from Barack on just about everything.

"... It was Dodd, Frank and other liberal Democrats who for years refused requests from the Bush administration to set up an agency to regulate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac."

Fox News had an interseting special Saturday as to how Fan/Fred combined and repackaged high risk loans into 3 letter acronyms, repackaged and renamed them again, and then broke them up to sell to banks; under this "mortgage laundering" system, it would be very difficult to regulate anything because it's almost impossible to track all the renamed/rebundled transactions.
