Jim Geraghty,
Can you define "unsustained lifestyles" a little better? If I am hearing you correctly the root problems are in corp. power. How do we address corp. corruption in other nations? As long as Mexico keeps its citizens poor they will want to come here. You havn't convinced me that the US is the home of all evil corp. power. Are you proposing we embrace manifest destiny? As for free lunchs...where have you been? Big Creek Lumber on Portola has a great FREE barbque (at lunch time)every now and then. Thanks Bud and Lud it was tasty. |

I think we crossed posts...I don't agree with the war on drugs but you got to admit asset forfiture brings in $$$ If we sold the assets of evil corps that hire illeagle workers how long would it take before the stockholders insisted on leagle employees? Last I looked lots of poor people get wefare right alongside the corps (of course the amounts are somewhat smaller. |

Perhaps more than ever before, citizens must stand together to stop the betrayal of our country. This has nothing to do with race, religion or even political party affiliation. It has everything to do with the 12 to 20 million illegal aliens who have been allowed to invade this nation. This is about the RULE OF LAW.! Every bodies jobs are in peril, our flag, our Constitution. The globalist, open border, free traders have an agenda to promote the free movement of cheap labor, throughout the North American Continent. Europe has been a grand example of what we have in store for us. Where unfettered immigration of poor countries workers have undermined the indigenous people.
We can stop the travesty of our laws, if only the majority of Democrats would co-sign the SAVE ACT. With only 18 more votes to go, we could bring this enforcement only bill to a vote. However, the Democrats want to attaches an addendum to the bill. It would give the 12 to 20 million foreign nationals occupying our nation, an easy ride to legality. This is wrong when millions wait for years patiently, to get THE PEOPLES permission to get a entry visa. Consider the impact of illegal immigration on California. "Illegal immigration continues to have a devastating impact Los Angeles County taxpayers," Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich said. "With $220 million for public safety,$400 million for health care, and $420 million in welfare allocations, the total cost for illegal immigrants to county taxpayers far exceeds $1 billion a year - not including the millions of dollars for education." Assemblywoman Mimi Walters, a Republican from Oceanside, said illegal immigrants cost California taxpayers an estimated $9 billion each year. The illegal invasion can only be understood by the corrupting influence on politicians of money for cheap labor for the Republicans or the Welfare votes for the Democrats that makes them dishonor their Oath of Office, the US Constitution against Invasion, and Enforcement of our Immigration Laws! Powerful forces at work to stop relevant immigration enforcement, that includes La Raza and friends, big businesses, the church machine and other special interest lobby. The SAVE ACT is a by-partisan law is awaiting just 18 signers, to bring this enforcement only to a House vote. The SAVE ACT will supersede any state laws, in its magnitude. It will go after the real culprits who are the predator employers. It is enforcement by Attrition or Self-Deportation. Cannot get work, then they will leave of their own accord. If you are one of the citizens fed up with subsiding the poor, uneducated from around the world. When the new personage steps into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, then we will be seeing the 12 to 20 million getting a path to citizenship. Nobody should have a right to legalization without going home and being processed like all immigrants. YOU! And only YOU, can stop this travesty of our Immigration laws? Tell your representatives to co-author THE SAVE ACT? Congress is currently on recess through March 31st, so your representative will likely be in the home constituency and available to meet with its citizens. FREE FAXES FOUND HERE. Keep calling your Congressmen today, toll free numbers include 18778516437 and 18662200044, or call toll 12022243121 AND REGISTER YOUR OUTRAGE at ongoing efforts to keep our country from enforcing its immigration laws! |

Free Speech The migration problem is the result of displaced workers, which can be traced to multinationals locating where there is cheap labor and playing one country off another country for a race to the bottom for both wages and living standards. These workers then become economic refugees unable to support their families and then they migrate to find work that can sustain them and their families. This is just one way of creating a displaced worker. In relation to our unsustainable lifestyle in America: Our demand and consumption of low cost good puts pressure on corporations to continue this economic spiral of globalized wage depression and resource depletion causing more displaced workers. The environmental displacement element is also present. An example of this is the US demand for low cost wood furniture and products. China deforested much of their land near the Yangtze's River, and when the rains came the land couldn't absorb the water and over ten million people were displaced because of the flooding. Another example of displaced workers can be seen in our trade policies. Mexican farmers become displaced workers when our taxes go to subsidize giant agro corn growers in the United States, who ship there cheap corn to Mexico, flooding and ruining the local corn economy and livelihoods of the traditional farmer. So much for free trade huh? It really isn't very free when you consider the real costs. In fact it gets quite expensive. So, in reality our foreign policy, trade systems and lifestyles become the root causes of displaced workers worldwide. We need to consider the implications both intended and unintended when we choose to consume and or play with international markets and multinational low wage seekers. The system does not care about migration because it feeds the need for cheap labor everywhere. The system is designed to suppress all workers and labor costs. So, the migration fix is in our hands or more precisely, our wallets. Stop feeding the system that produces displaced workers and the migration problem ceases. I doubt many Americans will give up their Walmart addiction, but at least the can enjoy their purchases knowing they are the problem. I'm on my way to Portola in my new SUV, but I have to stop at Walmart and by some crap first. Thanks for the free lunch tip. Spanish lessons when I get back...lol! |

Your preaching to the choir when it comes to evil corps. The point I'm trying to make is that the corps are mult-national. The US can change laws etc etc but how do we stop China from logging its watersheds? Read up on the Yellow River in China if you want to get depressed. Mexico's govt. is corrupt and has been since the days of Columbus (I know it wasn't "Mexcio" back then). The growing middle class in China and India are going to want the same stuff we do...what is driving oil prices up world wide? It sounds like you want to do the same thing with international trade as I want to do with illeagle immiagration...reform it |

1 Corporations are only and extended outcome of our materialistic tendencies. It is really quite simple. We need to stop our consuming. If we don't then we get the unintended consequences: capitalism's race to the bottom with wages, migration, resource wars, environmental degradation, global warming. The responsibility is ours, and I no we hate to accept responsibility for our actions but... You need to understand, the system forces are greater than any reform, be it either immigration, trade etc. It boils done to personal choices and personal values. If one values material goods then that choice will determine the market and produce a set of consequences you can't control (try that you will), but if you reject this so called free trade market for something human and concerned with a value based society then that is what will develope. The red pill or the blue pill? It is our choice! If you think immigration is a problem just wait until the imported poisons in our new tainted imported food supplies, lead laden toys and products, poison pet food, radioactive metals and every other corrupt product coming across our border starts showing up in our health statistics, It will make the migration issue pale in comparison. Each to his own...I prefer to deal with the root causes of a problem. Others prefer clouding the issues with nationalistic rhetoric. Good luck Shoppers, Walmart is having a special on isle DEATH. |

1 Jim is correct and if you look beyond a single issue to the broad spectrum, you get a better picture. A lot of the conflicts you see around the world are more geared from resistance of international changes being forced on them. But to magnify them gives false justification for more violence and with the confusing of violence, it's easier to achieve more under the guise of illusion. Address the VALID grievances in these countries and you "deflate" the violence. Also be diplomatic and allow them to walk away with their honor. My opinion. |
Both you and Jim seem to be saying that this is all the US's fault but then go on to talk about poison imports and conflicts around the world. The point I am trying to make is that the US is one of many countrys and just because you want to sing kum ba ya dosn't mean other countrys will. Ever wonder where France dumps her nuclear waste? Try the south pacific on the other side of the globe from France. How can the US make France stop? When we give billons to other govts to improve their countrys most of the money is scammed and disappears. Can you name one sucessfull UN project? You think al kita (sp?) wants to walk away with honer or do they want to rule the world? Is it a "valid grievance" that US workers are being replaced by illeagal workers? Why does it always fall on the US to address other countrys issues? |

Why do you feel you have to "blame" someone? Isn't it enough that there are big problems? It's kind of like marriges today and why they fail, people are so busy trying to blame each other they can't get down to resolving the issues. |

And for the second part, we don't have to. Just leave them the hell alone and keep our nose out of their business and they won't "have" a reason to hate us. Quit backing groups that terrorize other groups. But greed keeps certain people in our government from doing that. Most of the crap today starting back years ago when the Middle East struck oil and it's worked forward from there. |
Marxism comes from the 19th century. Chaos theory, the law of unintended consequences, and the uncertainty principle have mostly discredited Marxist theory as anything other than an armchair philosophy. |

I want all illegal aliens OUT!!!

Let's dwell on the unintended consequences for a moment. If capitalism thrives on cheap labor (and traverses the world seeking the lowest possible cost) and migration of capital and production is permitted what consequences are unintended? Are you implying that these corporations don't think this worker migration will happen? You actually think it's a big surprise to these architects of of globalization. Maybe it is best to leave Marxist theories out of this and deal with what is actually happening. Factories right across the US border are allowed to run like slum slave cities, subsidized crops flooding the Mexican market ruining traditional farming communities and economies. There are no unintended consequences relating to migration. These are calculated outcomes. They even planned the division of American workers and migrant workers...divided you fall, and so do wages. |
