A First Selectman should not be selfish and arrogant. I would vote Shingleton out next election. This man has the mentality of Vladimir Putin or Hugo Chavez. We cannot afford to have elected officials act in the manner. It's unfortunate voters did not understand what Shingleton was really like before they voted last election. Hopefully they understand now.

Many voters in Cromwell are happy with the job that Jeremy Shingleton is doing...most of those who are complaining did not vote for him in the last election so it is no surprise that they are unhappy. When the next election comes, perhaps they will garner enough votes to win but they did not this time. I believe that this is still a Democracy. Grow up and stop playing politics --it's unbecoming.

Patricia, God bless your heart but you can not be serious. Read the Middletown Press article and Shingleton's quotes about Stevenson. I think you will find them unprofessional, classless, and disrespectful. No one should be thrown under a bus regardless of the circumstances for the departure. Shingleton has lost the respect of many residents. Furthermore, many residents find it impossible now to take anything he says seriously. Whether you support Shingleton or not, you have to realize his ability to lead has been irreparably harmed. He is damaged goods and should do the honorable action of resigning.
