waltb wrote: <quoted text> I have read the transcript from the Peck visit to Fox's The War on Terror Oct 11, 2001. I agree that the speech was inspired by Ambassador Peck's remarks, if not quoted directly.... Oh, really? Interesting! Now that the Amb. Peck reference is proven bogus, the radical left sites are re-characterizing Wright as "inspired" by Peck during a Fox News show on October 11, 2001. Oops! How was Wright's sermon "inspired" by Peck on September 16, 2001 when Peck's first appearance after Sept 11 was not until on October 11, 2001 ??? Get it ??? Wright's speech was weeks before Peck was on Fox News. Now what's your explanation, WaltB ??? So Wright lied about Peck saying "chickens coming home to roost" and in fact he lied altogether about seeing Peck on Fox News on September 15 - the day before his sermon of September 16. More lies, lies, lies from Wright. The following is from Roland Martin on CNN's Anderson Cooper's web site http://ac360.blogs.cnn.com/2008/03/21/the-ful... ---------- I have now actually listened to the sermon Rev. Wright gave after September 11 titled,“The Day of Jerusalem’s Fall.” It was delivered on Sept. 16, 2001. One of the most controversial statements in this sermon was when he mentioned “chickens coming home to roost.” He was actually quoting Edward Peck, former U.S. Ambassador to Iraq and deputy director of President Reagan’s terrorism task force, who was speaking on FOX News. That’s what he told the congregation. He was quoting Peck as saying that America’s foreign policy has put the nation in peril: “I heard Ambassador Peck on an interview yesterday did anybody else see or hear him? He was on FOX News, this is a white man, and he was upsetting the FOX News commentators to no end, he pointed out, a white man, an ambassador, he pointed out that what Malcolm X said when he was silenced by Elijah Mohammad was in fact true, he said Americas chickens, are coming home to roost.” ----------

I here correct my statement about Peck's first appearance on Fox after Sept 11.
I took the Oct 11 date you referenced, but in fact Peck's first visit to Fox News after Sept 11 was Oct 5, still WEEKS AFTER Wright's sermon supposedly based on Peck's Fox appearance some time between Sept 11 and Sept 16.
Peck's appearances on Fox were Oct 5, 10 and 11.

Well in any event, I'll just say Colin Powell, Bill Cosby, and Condellesa Rice would not have continued to stick up for Wright, had they been going to his church. Obama is in a different class.

Ambassador Peck had an Interview on Fox Network on September 15th - the day before Wright's sermon. There is a reference to it in a web newsletter entitled "Nothing will ever be the same" by Paul Krassner - dated September 15th 2001. The relevant section is: On the Fox News Network, Edward Peck, former ambassador to Iraq, was an unusually outspoken guest. He said the terrorists acted as they did not because America is a freedom loving country, but because they feel the U.S. has been treating them the same way throughout the years--bombing Iraq for the last ten years whenever they felt like it--and adding to the list (Take Panama, take Haiti, take Cambodia) before he was cut off and dismissed. Link: http://www.flyingsnail.com/paul-one.html On a Yahoo forum posted on September 15th there is another reference to this interview with Peck: Did anyone else catch this on Sat.? Peck has served as U.S. ambassador to Iraq, I don't recall when. Channel 5 made the mistake of bringing him on as a talking head. He said the U.S. never slammed a plane into thousands of innocent civilians because the U.S. didn't have to. He said the U.S. in its war against terror had better start respecting others' rights. He said the no-fly zone in Iraq was not in the UN agreement that ended Desert Storm; it was simply imposed by the U.S. and "the former Great Britain." He said the U.S. lawlesly imposed its will on Panama, Granada and Haiti. The Ch. 5 guy got on his high horse and said people like Chamberlain in WW II had followed the letter of the law and let the madman Hitler go on, but Peck stuck to his guns. He must figure he's old now and will risk his life to speak the truth -- a sentiment I well understand. Link: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nycjunto-discus...

God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve. The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way--all of them who have tried to secularize America--I point the finger in their face and say, You helped this happen. http://www.flyingsnail.com/paul-one.html This guy sounds like a nut. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad. ---- there are two main problems with your theology. The largest is that GOD doesn't get mad. God is composed of love, of cosmic consciousness, of the connetions between all things. There is no anger in God. Any ideas you have to the contrary are anthropomorphications of politicians and spin doctors. The second problem is that you try to sell the well disproven idea that an unborn fetus is a baby. While it may in theory be possible for consciousness to inhabit a body well into the third trimester, science fact tells us that consciousness as such does not exist in the human nervous system until the senses have something to fix upon. No sane person wants there to be abortions, or looks forward to them. We can all agree that abortions are a problem we should solve. But diabolizing women for making difficult choices is not even vaguely useful as a problem solving device. If you really want abortions to end, quit being a blowhard for stupid and evil rhetoric, and become a champion for social economic justice, and early sex education. If you think Jesus would support your hate mongering against women or our society, you are neither a true christian, nor in any way vaguely connected to spiritual reality.

No Bill, I haven't disappeared from this discussion. There is a realization however that the larger problems will persist in this country, because there are some people who refuse to address them. As you know, we have some very real issues here; it is very counterproductive to continue to rehash an issue that will have nothing to do with the future of this country. One would think we all would learn after 4 years. Swift boats, gay marriage, abortion rights and other diversionary issues have been responsible for the economic failures, 4000+ deaths in Iraq, and the current health care crisis. No matter who you support, the dialog MUST be about the real issues; I urge all the supporters of McCain, Clinton and Obama to debate each candidate's merits based on the issues that will affect this country.

get informed; Why don't you follow your own advice? One line ad hominems? Thanks for rebroadcasting my posts, and adding so little that a good skim reader won't bother with what you've said. ---------- Seems the liars and zombies are you obama groupies. --- Right, well, your living in a dream world, so anybody whos in a different state of consciousness may seem to be sleeping to you; but thats the paradox of your position. -------- Lots of college kids are falling for the lies from the obama camp, ---- So far, in a few days on this board, not one person has been able to provide a proof for a single lie from the obama camp. Not one single proof. Can you do it? Nope. You can't. AND, i'm past college age. --- but then college kids, especaially the ones that lean left are not very bright in regards to real world issues, and politics and world events in general. ---- According to who? Rush limbo? Hannity? Ann coultier? I have news for you, its logically provable that its the conservatives who don't have any clue what is real and what isn't. In fact, on a simple test of simple facts such as "were there any wmds found in iraq?" conservatives fail miserably, while college age liberal kids actually manage better than passing grades. --------- Face it, wright, obama, and blacks like them are racist and bigoted. ---- Why? Because you say so over and over? Because evil bigoted spin doctors have said so a million times on the net? Wheres your proof? You have none. Wright may be racist. But obama isn't. And you cannot conjur any proof that he is. ----- Now we busted the true obama, and exposed his hatred against the white people. --- No, you fell into a propagandists mental trap, and betrayed yourself to be a racist bigot, waiting to be tapped and manipulated like a zombie puppet.
