Scott, I hope more Republicans come around like you. Dan, if you're willing to relocate, Las Vegas has excellent job opportunities. After being discharged from the Navy in 75 I moved here and have always been employed since, no problem. Valet parkers at most properties make at least 50k per year. Go online to MGM/Mirage corporation and go to employment. You can submit an application on line if you're willing to relocate. If a person can't find work here he or she just isn't motivated. Post your e-mail address and I will be glad to correspond with you and try to help you within MGM/Mirage where I work.
Most of these so called "converted to the BHO cause" Republicans are Democrat shills trying to create some sort of bandwagon effect. Easier to see through than a Victoria's Secret nightie.

Well guess what Dan? That is reality. There should be no entitlement in my opinion. In my opinion, if you want to fight for this country, do it. There should be know benefits or entitlements for soldiers. If there is then those soldiers are more mercenaries than soldiers and patriots. Want a good paying job with the best entitlements and freebies Dan? Become a politician. They are the ones that sold the USA down the river and have the most for themselves to show for it. Wake up Dan, you are back in the USA.

The U.S. needs a volunteer Army. Not all of the soldiers returning from Iraq enlisted post inavasion. I agree with you partly because it is an all volunteer army, but had we instituted the draft then we should be doing something for returning vets whether it's the G.I. bill or some sort of job training. However, the way this administration has lied to our soldiers with the stop loss program (back door draft) and multiple back to back tours that defy all military code, we should be doing something for them. The real mercenaries are working for Blackwater, that war profiteering outfit that runs lawless in Iraq. You can thank "W" and Cheney for that, along with Halliburton, etc.
Don't bi--h about Blackwater they handle a lot things the Army and Marines can't and are well paid for their expertise. Lots are ex-Special Forces ex-Rangers ex-Marines ex-Seals some are also ex-FBI & CIA. Just basic good ole down to earth Mercenaries.

Can't and won't swallow what this politician is trying to spoon feed the American people.
This is Carterism, revisited.
Anyway, the electoral college already knows who they want. The citizens' don't even have to go to the polls, unless there's a local issue you want to vote for (or against).

What about our racial brothers and sisters that want Obama to win simply because he has dark skin? Isn't that what the preacher friends of Obama are alluding to? In some way it sounds like Obama, by what some of his supporters say, is running for president because he is dark-skinned, and tired of white america running things. In that case it wouldn't be a president that happens to be dark-skinned, but a hateful person wanting to turn the tables. What good comes from a premise of hate?

This is what is called sad, very very sad, but I guess we should be use to the propaganda that has been spread over the last six years. I guess when you have nothing else (like truth) this is what you have to resort to.

Maybe it will balance out with the hateful "non supporters", you know the ones that are spreading lies of him being a Muslim. I think most of those people don't want to admit in public that they won't vote for him because he is black. If there was any truth in the Muslim rumors the right wing would be all over it. There are trashy web sites & stupid e-mails but not one legitimate news source (not even Fox Network) that will say it & McCain already had to apologize for his cohorts inferring to Obama as being a Muslim. I certainly agree with you that no good comes from hate but unfortunately we are seeing it on both sides.

That's a sweeping generalization. I come a very staunch Republican family and - while some at sticking with McCain - many are actually looking at the issues and the men involved to determine their candidate.

We need to look to their policies and practices instead of sticking strictly to party lines. I see these email forwards going around (which have been defiantly disputed) all over the internet. However, alarmists and those who follow blindly take them as fact. Wake up and use your brain, people!

After going to both candidates' rallies in Ohio, this is one young Republican that is switching sides this year.

That is the type of atiquated thinking that holds this country back. You're afraid to elect a black man to the office of President because he may enpower blacks?

Do you forget that he has an Ivy leauge education and was editor of Harvard Law Reivew (for you non-lawyers, that is a VERY distinguished honor. Usually top 10% of your class). That's not the typical educational opportunity that you average person - black or white - has. Plus, do you actually believe that he would be able to do that? There would be an uprising, it would be political suicide. Open up your closed mind.

Im sorry for bringing any rationality into focus for you. Based on your assumptions: 1. The color of MY skin 2. All people with distinguishing credentials are morally grounded 3. A politician will NOT lie to obtain a position 4. My mind is 'closed' because I pointed out facts about a population
If I were to vote for Obama based on your argument, it would be because he is dark-skinned and went to Harvard. Right? That is NOT a way to elect a president, and bringing things like "antiquated thinking" and "open your mind" are manipulative ways to place guilt. Now do you want to try to answer the questions again with the education I just gave you?

Unfortunately, I usually don't take advice from those with lower academic credentials than my own.

YOU are the one who called race into play. 1. To be honest, I don’t care what color your skin is and I never made any assumptions to it. Please quote where you see that. 2. Your original comment also made no issue of whether the Senator is morally grounded or not, but rather whether he will “turn the tables” on “white America.” I made no assumption as to his morality, but do believe since he went to the top academic institution in our country, he has the common sense not to alienate the majority of the population. Being a politician, such an act would be - as I said - political suicide. 3. Politicians fudge the truth all the time to gain office, but that was not the basis of your argument, nor mine. 4. Where are you getting these “facts”? Please send me the link so I can “educate” myself. Your original comment was nothing more than your opinion; there is nothing “fact” about it. A black person wanting Obama to win is the same as a woman wanting Hilary to win. Not the “turn the tables” on “men”, but rather to open doors and opportunities. You make the argument that they want him to win to turn the tables on white America and that it will be based out of hate. Apparently, those are your facts. In his book, Obama speaks about the hardships of growing up bi-racial and not really being accepted by either white or blacks. Also, some in the black community consider him “not black enough”. I hardly think that an educated person with a rational mind would seriously fear the “turning of tables” on “white America”.
