Why do you think the GOP will ever act to end abortion? The GOP has controlled the Congress and the White House and could have done so anytime. They prefer to have the issue available to whip up deluded supporters every election season.
Beyond that, existing law already requires medical aid to infants born alive, and gives states the right to regulate abortion in the last trimester. The only requirement is an exception for the life and health of the mother.
The whole premise behind this is the idea that women carry a baby almost to term, and then impulsively decide on abortion. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Abortion is always an agonizing decision, and those in the last trimester are usually necessary to save the lives of the mother.
Anyone who would deny this must truly hate women. Anyone who would bring back the coathanger abortions must truly hate women.
