Card Carrying Zionist wrote: <quoted text> I don't doubt that Axelrod & Co. are smearing Romney, but there is plenty of accuracy in many of the criticisms. Romney and/or Ryan supported Dubya's big government programs (e.g. TARP, airline bailout, steel tarriffs, Medicare Part D, Patriot Act, earmarking, ethanol subsidies, NCLB, gutting the Freedom to Farm Act, etc.) Re: the draft, perhaps I was not precise ehough. Like Clinton, Romney legally evaded service in Vietnam. However, if he was against the US SE Asia policy during the war he could have tried to serve in the National Guard or Peace Corps, or he could have volunteered for an armed forces speciality in which he was unlikely to be sent to Vietnam. Obviously, we have had plenty of president swho were not veterans, but anyone getting into national politics should know that his service record will be scrutinized -- especially if he is advocating a conservative foreign policy. Is that fair? Not necessarily. Is life fair? Often not. Too often we think that individuals go to college in times of war, do so to avoid serving; and that may be true in some cases. Yet, many go to college in times of peace or without a draft, so it easy to conclude that many students going to college during the Vietnam War would have gone anyway. Now considering the steller academic careers of Clinton and Romney, it is clear they were serious students. Both had gotten HIGH Lottery Numbers in the 1969 drawing and neither were in any danger of being drafted----they both persued their education after that. Conclusion: Neither were draft dodgers.

Romney has plans for America..to get us working and never bow to dictators or foreign leaders. Exactly how is that working out for the Communist Obama and his ilk? Will wait for answers.

No one mentions that John Kerry is over 10 times as rich as Romney. The man and his wife had a very old mansion in England dismantled and moved to Aspen. Why is Romney's wealth an issue? When Obama retires to his 35 million dollar oceanside villa in Hawaii (being bought by Penny Pritzker and loyalists) the OWSers will see how they've been so wrong about the wealthy. Just thinking...how does one go from a meager income to owning a villa in Hawaii....through govt of course! Unless you are Romney, who started a company and became successful through hard work and thoughtful planning.

Just to be clear...it was Kerry who had the English mansion moved to Aspen.

They did not move to Canada to avoid the draft, right?

According to Wikipedia: ...Clinton attended the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., receiving a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service (B.S.) degree in 1968. He spent the summer of 1967, the summer before his senior year, interning for Arkansas Senator J. William Fulbright... ...Romney attended Stanford University in 1965–1966 for a year...In May 1966, he was part of a counter-protest against a group staging a sit-in at the university administration building in opposition to draft status tests...In July 1966, he left for a thirty-month stay in France as a Mormon missionary...Romney's support for the U.S. role in the Vietnam War was only reinforced when the French greeted him with hostility over the matter and he debated them in return...
