Conservatives Lose It Over Romney's Gaffe: "I'm Not Concerned About the Very Poor."

Full story: www.weeklystandard.com

Topix Staff Feature

Some of Romney's conservative supporters are having a total freakout over the ten billionth major gaffe of his campaign.

In case you hadn't heard, yesterday Romney followed up his Florida win with a mindbogglingly tactless remark.

“I’m not concerned about the very poor,” Romney said in an interview with CNN's Soledad O'Brien this morning.

"What is wrong with this guy?" asks conservative opinionator Jonah Goldberg in The National Review.

And over at the conservative journal of record The Weekly Standard, John McCormack writes,
Romney's remark isn't merely tone-deaf, it's also un-conservative.

Readers in the comment threads of both pieces had even more colorful things to say about Romney's gaffe:

Romney loses people when he opens his mouth.
and
Romney will get destroyed in November.

Your take: Does Romney's remark reflect badly on him? Do you buy the idea that he's an uncaring rich guy?

WE knew all along he was never concerned about the poor, and Middleclass Americans are gonna be in for a rude awakening cause he is not concerned about YOU either!

But one thing is for sure all of the RICH has used our taxpaying dimes to further fill their pockets!

Better you know now that the RICH don't give a dayum about you than you vote another Rich sucker in to finish taking more of your money!

If these so called politicians really care about America and Americans tell them to relase US from paying SSI for them and a whole lot of other perks that you know nothing about!

Who cares about the poor? They contribute nothing ( no taxes paid) but consume a huge percentage of taxes paid by others....

Give them 90 days to find a job, then end welfare...they can either starve, move in with relatives, or move away.

Sure is funny how Progressives love to twist words around to fit their agenda.

For those who are just spitting out talking points and NEVER even heard the entire answer to the question.. He said He's not worried about the poor because they have safety nets and if they aren't working he WILL FIX THEM! Said he is not worried about the rich.. He's worried about getting the core of America, ie: MIDDLE CLASS back on the right track.

Hello!!! Our current President sure isn't doing anything for the middle class... Since he has taken office more then 3 years ago the middle class has shrunk and the poor has grown bigger along with the rich getting richer!

I think, if you look, you will find that Romney didn't have to work his way through school. In addition with his connections he had access to money to invest. Not everyone does. Investing, for most of us, requires money to make money. Romney is not a bad guy, and intellectually he can grasp and treat the problems of the less monetarily endowed. The media, supprisingly, showed a clip of him discussing bad mortgages with delinquent homeowners. He recgonized that that the loan could not be repaid, and exceeded the value of the property. He seemed to take the honest businessman's approach, restructer the loan. Not every creditor or person here would take that approach. It seems that many want to punish the poor for being poor.

But condsider this, I have it on good authority that:
"... under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all." (Ecclesiastes 9:11 King James Version)

Typical......edit away and report an untruth. Liberals won't take the time to listen to the whole interview....let alone the entire SENTENCE. I heard the entire interview and followed what he was saying without losing it.
Even the headline of this thread is misleading. But...it will fool many

Willard Rmoney is poor in spirit, is an empty suit, and morally bankrupt. He is the perfect shill for Corporate Fascism. He is for We the Corporations and would destroy our democracy.
