I won't call names, but please look at test scores and school project award winners, there is always a homeschooler in the mix. It's my opinion, you don't know or have any contact with homeschool students or families, if you did your opinion might change.

Hey genius, what is a "chavanist" pig? It look's like you could use a little home schooling yourself! LMAO

Actually, it does violate the Separation of Church and State, because you do not know whether the person in question is reading from the Bible in class.
Personally, I want them to ban people from even bringing a Bible into schools. A cross is okay, any religious jewelry is okay.... not a book that could be used to instruct children on religious things against the will of their parents.

Its up to every not Jew, not Muslim, to go for the Bible, its the only way to defend our communities and countrys, against an Zionistic, Islamic, power play for world domination, even Atheîst start to look to the Bible not as a Preaching, but as A wapen against this enormes monster, who are sucking our lives blood out of our country's, the big American money river flows god knows where, but on the end he is empty.

Why can't he be allowed to have the Bible on his desk? But only if he adds all the other holy books too. Then it would be fair. Paganism in schools? Here it comes!

He's pushing his faith on students. It may be subtle, but that's what he's up to.

How does a bible or any other religous book sitting on a desk violate the constitution? The teacher isn't reading from it and no one is being forced to read it. If it makes the students uncomfortable maybe that is a good thing. The way that many teens are turning out today a good bible lesson every morning might help. In no way does this violate seperation of church and state. If religion isn't being practiced, preached or taught in this class room then there is no violation of any rights. If that is a violation then someone walking down the street with a bible under his or her arm is violating other people on the street civil rights. What bull crap. If the book, no matter what religous book it is, makes one nervous or uncomfortable I would say that there must be a good reason.

This is not about separation of church and state. It is about following policy. Here is a copy of Mount Vernon's policy and it states that the district does not allow "devotional exercises or displays of a religious character,". The teacher also had the 10 commandments posted, Bibles stacked on a bookshelf, posters with Bible verses on them and he removed or took them down. Why not just put the Bible in his desk drawer? They are not saying he can't have the Bible in the school or read from it during breaks or lunch, but it must be out of sight when class is in session...where is the debate? What if it was something more offensive?? Playboy, KKK literature, NAZI material, what would you all say then?

So we have to destroy freedom of religion in America to "save" America? How would destroying our basic freedoms make America stronger? One of the weaknesses of many other countries is their support of one religion over other. If this country goes Christian verses freedom then it will be worthless, and must be destroyed.

No, Atheists are not giving up their faith for another just because of any "monster". Been watching Cloverfield a little too closely?

I have to agree that the country is having economic issues, but these are mainly due to greed of investors, CEOs, and government policies created by our elected representatives. If people weren't busy voting against freedom for gay marriage, then maybe we wouldn't be in this economic mess. Big money knows manipulating people who question things less (--have blind faith--) is easier.

Note: A real American believes in freedom for someone unlike themselves.

You sure know your history. This is one of the most ignorant statements that I have ever read. According to all of your posts you are a pretty miserable person. So full of hate and venom. Maybe you could use a few lessons from a religous book.

If it was a Quran, you would be up in arms but since it's a Bible, it's ok. Never mind if there are Muslim, Jewish or atheist Children in the room, as long as it's YOUR Bible, it's ok. That kind of Bushbot mentality is why our country is in the crapper. 200 years of separation fo church and state and thanks to the Primate, I mean President, our system is screwed.

Your faith had nothing to do with the establishment of this county. Our forefathers came here FOR freedom of religion and they WEREN'T Christians. Read a book and I don't mean the Bible.

No wonder our educational system is in trouble. Instead of concentrating on bettering ourselves, we are concentrating on some religious fundamentalist who thinks the rules DON'T apply to them because they invoke the name GOD.

Truly pathetic. M-F is for school. Sunday is for church. If you value Freedom, keep your religion private.

If no one is reading it or being forced to read it, why is it there? Are all her drawers full? Cabinets? Her purse or briefcase?

This is about religious fundamentalists who think they are superior to other Americans. When in fact, they are just the opposite. They are a scourge on this country ever since 2000 and after the debacle of the last 8 years, they shouldn't be allowed to make ANY kind of important decisions ever again.

The US Constitution is turned over to all of us for interpretation. You've assumed that there's only one interpretation, and that is that Christianity can be spread in all situations.
Ellie Mae wrote:
You'll probably find that our left wing judges were all members of the ACLU and follow the Communist Manifesto rather than the U.S.Constitution.
They have to follow the US Constitution. Many right-wing judges as well as left-wing judges should be following the laws of this nation better than they do, including the separation of church and state.

I realize that when someone you support, based purely on politics, doesn't get their way you'll rant and rave. But if you really support America, and the equal and unbiased freedom of religion that it represents, then you'll quit the left-right psychobabble and support removing the Bible. It's a shame that a religious text is being used as tool in an attack on the very pillars of equality and freedom that this country is based on.

We have a homeschooler in the neighborhood. They are religious freaks too. They don't socialize with anyone in the neighborhood and their child can't even hold a conversation with you without running away. They are so brainwashed, when I was washing my car in my bathing suit, he asked me why I was naked. I said this is a bathing suit, doesn't your mom have one and he said no and ran home. We live in Florida so how weird is that?

Luckily, they are going to pass legislation in Palm Beach to prohibit home schooling now that it is clear these children are being taught an agenda that will not help them in the real world the rest of us live in.

Are all home schoolers messed up? No. Many are very successful and go on to the best colleges. Good for them but the consensus seems to be, booksmart is great but you have to have social skills and knowledge of many things, not just the Bible and the obtuse opinions of your parents.

The Bible is one of the best literary works ever written. Why is it a crime to have it on a teacher's desk.

I'm the product of home schooling. Have a family and couple of kids. I have a good job in IT and provide for my family. We have several close friends, but not a lot of friends. Why are you so anti home school. That would be like me indicting public schools because a teacher has an affair with a student. That would be nuts. Fortunately, I was taught in home school to think. I'm not sure that your quote has much thought behidn it.

Endo - Thanks for the info. Didn't realize that was what was going on. Does make one look at things a bit differently. I also see your point of view about Playboy etc. I hadn't thought of it in that text.

Our public schools are managed by anti-American and religion hating left wing liberal socialists that teach our students to hate America and to hate the Christian values that US constitution is based on.
The left wing liberal socialistic teacher unions have no problem to use the Islamic anti-American Quran in school but they hate anything that connects to Christianity and the Ten Commandment. The left wing liberal socialistic mangers of our public schools will push culture of homosexuals, free condoms and free abortion to twelve years old girls without telling her parents.
It is time to start using vouchers for religious and private schools that will be free from socialistic unions and will improve the performance of our children at school, will reduce the violence in the public schools and will teach our children biblical values and to love our country. The public schools where left wing liberal socialistic unions rule are failing our children with lowest achievements in many years when more than 50% of NYC high school children fail to graduate this year as in previous years. Enough is enough with socialistic unions wasting our tax money on teaching hatred to America and to Christianity and Judaism and support of Islam. It is time to allow parents to choose their private school that will provide best education to their children and paid for with vouchers of our tax money.
