In 2002 at the Appalachian Law School, Peter Odighizuwa, a disgruntled student, shot and killed the Dean, a professor and a student before two armed students subdued him. We'll never know how many more people would have been killed without those two students who used firearms to disarm a shooter. While this story didn't make national news, it was widely reported locally...and in some of those news reports, no one mentioned that those two students stopped the shooter because they were armed. The simple truth is armed citizens stop over a million crimes a year, in most cases never having to fire a shot. There was a woman in Nevada who shot and killed a crazed gunman at a fast food restaurant where she stopped to get breakfast on her way to work. The shooter killed six before she was able to stop him, and he was armed with two guns and over eighty rounds (1990's). The theater, BTW, doesn't allow firearms. Since Americans who carry tend to be law abiding, they will leave their firearms at home before going to the theater or anywhere that arms are forbidden. Do you think that it's accidental that many of these mass shootings occur where firearms are prohibited?

As it happens, the Century 16 theaters at 14300 E. Alameda Ave in Aurora, Colorado are owned by Cinemark Century Theaters, headquartered in Plano, Texas, and for several years this chain movie theater has told customers they are not welcome to bring their firearms into theaters. Back in 2009, an Alaska-based member of a gun owner's message board going by the handle SubNine reported that he tried to enter a Cinemark owned theater with his open carry weapon but was told he was not allowed to enter the premises armed because the chain had a no-weapons policy. It was a "gun-free zone," he was told by the manager. You see, Harvey, law abiding Citizens obey and respect laws and policies of others. Unlike libbies that ASSume everyone breaks laws and violates others requests such as they themselves do.
