Bush Signs Bill That Will Protect Eightmile River
"This was going to be a six-lot subdivision," he said. Frohling, who works for The Nature Conservancy, was overdue at his office, but on this warm spring day the woods were calling, and he had to fight the urge ...

The Eight Mile River is so polluted in Plantsville, I believe it's part of a superfund clean up. No?

Great Work Nathan Frohling!!

Not the same river. This Eight Mile River is pristine. Great job to all involved! |

Different river. The "Holy Grail" for The Nature Conservancy is money, money, money, and, did I mention money? Look at what has been going on at the CT HQ over the past several years as the working staff is whittled down and the philanthropy department grows and grows. They export almost all of what they fundraise in Connecticut to their national headquarters. Very little is used in CT. They have a few good people left, but the chapter leadership is ruthlessly greedy and neglectful. Want to conserve Connecticut? Give to your local conservation organization, watershed group, or land trust. Otherwise, you might as well drive down I-91 and chuck your money out of the window. |

It;s the Quinnipiac River that runs through Plantsville, parts of which are a Superfund cleanup site. I thought the Democrats said Bush doesn't care about the environment??? Don't tell me they were overy critical of a Republican! |

I get the feeling that he signed the wrong paper. It has to be a mistake. He meant to sign the Eight Mile River Subdivision and Industrial Park bill.

Burlington Bill, I am very concerned about what you wrote. Is this true? Meaning no offense -- is there a way of checking this beyond an anonymous posting on a website? I give to the Connecticut Nature Conservancy (and national too) because I want to see my money used in Connecticut. The mailings I get all show projects in Connecticut. If my CT Nature Conservancy money isn't being ised in this state, I want to know about it. Where can I go for more information on this? |

Well, it appears George CAN do something right on the rare occasion.

You can also throw the "presumtive" GOP Presidental Nominee John McClueless in GWB's Camp as well. |
No, just another attempt at putting a band-aid on a legacy gushing blood. |

It's too little too late Bushy Wushy. You have ruined America to such an extreme not only financially but politically it is going to take decades (if at all) to restore the damage you have done.

George Bush = Environmentalist
lol! |

If Dubya Bush finally wants to accomplish something before he leaves the office he was elected (?) fraudulently to, he can tell all foreign nations with loan debt to the U.S. to pay up by next Friday or he'll send out the leg breakers. |

I am having trouble locating the clause in the US Constitution that authorizes the federal government control over this. I know many will point out that the Environmental Protection Agency has jurisdiction. The only problem is that the EPA claims authority under the Interstate Commerce Clause of the Constitution. I can't make the connection between this watershed area and commerce with other states. That leaves any protection of this area solely under the jurisdiction of the state of Connecticut unless the Federal Government can find another legitimate way. That is of course if you believe that the Constitution is something more the just a piece of paper.

Even Bush? Are you sure he isn't planning to use it for a private hunting preserve for him and Cheney in January'09? Shoot some Quail, baby ducks and robins? |
|
You forgot to put lawyers on the list of things Cheney shoots. |
