And who the hell are you to say that we have the right to be where we DON'T belong. And I am SO tired of the whole "United States is superior to everyone else"attitude. And WW2 has NOTHING to do with this.Seriously. I already know about the massive casualties.Americans need to stop getting into other people's affairs. If other countries are at war, we should stay out of it.There are FAR more important issues in our own country(gang violence, homelessness, poverty racism, high living costs, etc.) than trying to clean someone elses' mess.If we only focused on improving this country,we would be much better off and THEN we can worry about everyone else. The hypocrisy in this country is sickening.Or do you think our countries' issues are unimportant and that we should just be treated like shit?<quoted text>Who are you to say where our country belongs. We belong exactly where we will do the most good for our defense.
With the exception of a few small skirmishes in Texas during the war with Mexico, we haven't fought a war on American soil since 1865.
If we would have had a presence on European soil in 1938 we wouldn't have had to fight WWII. Instead we left Europe and became Isolationists again after WWI. We left the matter of keeping the peace to the British and the French. We all know how that turned out. In WWII the U.S. casualty rate was 300,000 killed and another 300,000 wounded. The Russians however had 9 million killed and 18 million wounded along with 19 million civilians, Germany 3.5 million killed and 4.6 million wounded with 2 million civilians killed. We on the other hand had 0 civilian casualties.
Where would you have liked to be during that war?
President is keeping country safe

Like I explained to Gary,we need to focus on OUR own country's issues. But obviously, you care more about the people abroad than here which is funny considering that they could care less about us.On again, the hypocrisy is so plain to see.And disgusting for a "democracy" like us.And I will CONTINUE to say that this country does not belong there because this is how I feel. I'm not a coward like the majority of Americans. |

Why isn't Obama a TRUE AMERICAN? Because he's not white? Because he's not Catholic? Because he's not Republican? Because he doesn't have a flag pin stuck in his lapel? Because he disagrees with his government on some key issues like torture? Because he doesn't look, act or think exactly like you do? Who are you to judge who's a TRUE AMERICAN anyway? |

Then get yourself a dose of reality. The "world" is getting smaller. Geographical boundaries are becoming meaningless. Isolationism is not an option if you want to be part of the "New World". Go ahead, stick you head in the sand, it will leave your most important feature exposed and easier to kick. |
I happen to agree with much of what you say. I too think that we need to care for ourselves before trying to help others. I disagree strongly that Obama is the answer though. You do have the right to your opinion as do I. I worry that Obama has a very good chance of winning this election, and if that is the case, I sincerely hope that I'm am wrong about him, because if I'm not, we will be far worse off then we currently are. Trying to determine the true sprit of ANY politician is very difficult, so I guess the best thing to do is to pray for guidance and hope that AMERICANS make the right choice. I happen to LOVE MY COUNTRY very much, and yes we do have our problems, but I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I pray that our future is bright! |

WWII has everything to do with it. Only an ignorant self absorbed Isolationist couldn't see that. |

Minus the isolationist part, you just described trait of 99 percent of Americans. I am in the 1 percent and so are a TINY group of Americans. |

1 Everyone should read his book and then see. From 'Dreams of My Father', "I CEASED TO ADVERISE MY MOTHER'S RACE AT THE AGE OF12 OR 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites" From Dreams of My Father, " I FOUND A SOLACE IN NURSING A PERVASIVE SENSE OF GRIEVANCE AND ANIMOSITY AGAINST MY MOTHER'S RACE". From 'Dreams of my Father', "The emotion between the races could never be pure..... the THE OTHER RACE (WHITE) WOULD ALWAYS REMAIN JUST THAT: MENACING, ALIEN AND APART" From Dreams Of My Father, "never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. IT WAS INTO MY FATHER'S IMAGE , THE BLACK MAN, THE SON OF AFRICA, THAT I'D PACKED ALL THE ATTRIBUTES I SOUGHT IN MYSELF. From Dreams Of My Father: "THAT HATE HADN'T GONE AWAY," he wrote, BLAMING WHITE PEOPLE,- SOME CRUEL, SOME IGNORANT, sometimes a single face, sometimes just a faceless image of a system claiming power over our lives." |

Wrong - by your comments you are an isolationist. You can't see the value of supporting our global interests elsewhere in the world. |

This was certainly an interesting post. Do you have the page numbers to go with it? Thank you. It explains why he would have stayed in that church... and why he only left it AFTER the political HEAT (I am sure the powers that be let him know in no uncertain terms they had to leave that church ASAP) when media played clips, of Rev wright and Then the newest preacher... |

Sovereign and isolationist are not mutually exclusive... We can have a sovereign nation while at the same time not being isolationist. Last I looked that was the case |

1 Since 9/11 there have been several attempts but no attacks on the Continental U.S. I'd say Bush has done a good job. You obviously are a DNC coolaid drinker. |

Blaming one man for all these problems is very myopic of you. Certainly not reality. |
