yeah right. more rules as in "the Government knows best". the added costs of regulation that drives increased prices of product. I am not saying things don't need to change. I just question the arrogance of politicians thinking "they" can fix it! The politicians I refer to will not be satisfied until they control everything! That is when we will become a third world country. Rich elite class (politicians and their minions) and the peasants that will be driving volks (peoples) wagon and live in governemnt provided appartments.

I'm with Bishop Romney. We have to get rid of ALL RULES and take our time to think of some new ones that may or may not be implemented, may or may not work. We can decide AFTER the elections.

You have valid points, but I'm afraid Americans are seeing the government as the enemy but missing the army bringing up the rear. In your opinion, what segment of our country has the most power over people? The government or big business? If you said government, you're wrong. The federal government controls very little of the typical American's life. We certainly believe it does; we've been led to believe it's watching us and conspiring to destroy us. But that can't happen because of all the checks and balances in place within our government to keep it, at least, somewhat contained. On the other hand, big business has very serious implications within the government. It buys political candidates, makes or breaks politicians, and spends millions to change laws and define the way we live. EVERYTHING that is wrong with America right now is because of big business and if we don't start to recognize that we, as a society, are going to suffer for it. I know. It's communistic, anti-American, and sacrilegious to malign big business. We're a country of people who love our freedoms and those freedoms are being destroyed by the very entity which we circle the wagons around and protect. It's easy to blame the government. The government seems like a blood-sucking bully always in our faces; but while we're busy throwing rocks at the bully, its gang of thieves is behind us stealing everything we have. Jobs, homes, banking, credit, cost of college, standard of living, personal rights, healthcare, privacy....and so many more things in our livds are being threatened by big business. So much so it's becoming frightening. Big business can get away with so much more than it ever could years ago. It has become so powerful that it can and will control us all in time. That's really not a place any of us want to be because big business doesn't have those check and balances in place to contain it. It will eventually run rampant over all of us.

With governments track record of being involved with any business, you can guarantee it will go bankrupt

It does not happen to be mine. That said neither side is blameless.

The rules were put in place TWO YEARS AGO, according to the article. What happened? They didn't work. Clearly, we need more of them thar regulations. And Obama is just the guy to get that done.
I loe this quote from the article:
"Obama argued that while JPMorgan could withstand the loss, a smaller bank could have been so damaged that it would have required federal assistance. "
How much federal assistance did Obama give these guys so far? Let 'em sink, I say. Better than throwing good money after bad. Even if that means we have to ante up the FDIC funds.(What? We already spent that?)

Wait a minute. All I hear is that obama already fixed banking industry. Next I'll hear he didn't fix the economy or close gitmo or lower unemployment below 8%. We hired him to get the truck out of the ditch, little did we know he doesn't know how to drive.

I do think the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, that repealed part of the Glass-Stegall Act of 1933, was a part of the problem with the banking/securities industry. Now this was pretty bi-partisan. Clinton passed it, but in the House and Senate you got to look at the votes. 343-86 (Republicans 205–16; Democrats 138–69; Independent 0–1),two months after the Senate had already passed its version of the bill on May 6 by a much-narrower 54–44 vote along basically-partisan lines (53 Republicans and 1 Democrat in favor; 44 Democrats opposed).

Maybe they lost his and he can now 'feel da pain' since he said the other day he forgets sometimes there is a recession.
