Sorry, Mr. Calderon, but speak for yourself. Not ALL Latinos are affected by the raids because some of us Latinos, who's parents and grandparents came to this country the legal way and went through the naturalation process, don't agree with just giving illegal immigrants, that broke the law sneeking into this country illegally, a free path to citizenship by cutting in line in front of those going through the process. You and people like you, for example, Armando Navarro, support this lawlessness with your reconquista theories. You guys are nothing but old "has beens" from the Chicano movement of the 1970's and you're trying so hard to keep your reconquista movement afloat. Well, sirs, this is just letting you know that just because I'm Latino doesn't mean I support you and your aiding to lawbreakers...and that is exactly what they are...lawbreakers. Let's see...you want all estimated 12 million illegals to have instant citizenship, illegal immigrant college students to have legal status to be able to pay in-state tuition rates, stop plans to build a 2,000 mile fence along the U.S./Mexico border and stop immigration raids. Hmmm...why don't you just stop beating around the bush and just say you want the U.S. to hand itself over to Mexico, but then that would actually be what you want. It's a shame that you guys are even allowed to be teaching your anti-Americanism in our universities and colleges. You both need to be packaged up and sent to Mexico where you really belong. Maybe you can do some good there because God knows how much help that country needs.
If you want change, go spew off your issues about the Mexican people to the Mexican Government, since that is where the "fix" needs to be made, and stop supporting people that merely want nothing more to do than take advantage of this country for all it will give them. You guys disgust me.

Criminals. Any group that supports these criminals is the definition of Un-American.

As I stood in a high school football stadium yesterday, with hundreds of others, all saluting our flag and saying the pledge...I was reminded of the recent group of 6th grade hispanic students, protesting the pledge in a classroom by refusing to stand for the pledge and heckling the 5 of the 32 that did stand to say the pledge. Disgusting that their illegal parents send them to school for their free breakfast, free lunch, free education and then instill in them the absolute hatred for the country that provides them this opportunity. I have had students tell me that it is disrespecting their country (Mexico) and their parents by saying a pledge to the United States. The nerve!

Its pretty said that those boneheads organizing this want to get laws passed that offer this "instant citizenship". Its like a slap in the face to those who worked hard for that deserved title of "American". These illegals just want more, they always want more like spoiled brats, this country gives me stuff but if I cant get everything I want I am going to throw a temper tantrum just like a three year old and cry to my daddy which happens to be whichever high priced lawyer they can find. This is total BS and needs to STOP! I totally agree with post 1 here. Freedom is earned and frankly they dont deserve it. Go fix your own country before you come here ruining ours!

I was just going by what the paper had quoted on the millions here already. I also am aware that it's not all illegals from Mexico, but the majority of them are, and that is all that matters to the radical reconquistas like Calderon and Navarro. Someone mentioned on here once that illegals were using their chidren's (that were born here) SS# to work and worst of all...vote.

More Latinos need to speak up and out against this kind of b.s. Not only is it disgusting to think that people should be given a "path" to citizenship just by virtue of them being here but it also reflects poorly on Latinos and ALL immigrants who came here legally. And furthermore, to title your campaign with a Spanish name (Somos Americanos) is even more irritating. If you "are" Americans, then why aren't you assimilating? Titling a campaign that is supposedly all about how "American" you are in a language other than English is completely counterproductive...like so many of the "activists" who marched in the earlier rallies carrying Mexican flags and upside-down American flags, you are not making a case for yourself.

As a Mexican-American I find it offensive for Mr. Calderon to presume that he speaks for me. My family has been here for generation after generation. And for him to say that the latino population "demands" that we give amnesty to the 12 million people that came here illegally is rediculous. To assume that we all favor the "undocumented" is a racist statement. I would have to be a racist to defend their "right" to illegally come into this country simply because they are of the same race as me. You assume a lot Mr. Calderon, and in this case, you LIE.

What Mr. Calderon seems to not understand is that a lot of us Latinos were born here to parents and grandparents who were also born here. We feel a pride and a love for our country that has been handed down to us for generations. And it offends me that someone could try to tell me that someone that illegally comes over our border from another country deserves to be here as much as I do. And to add further insult, these people march down OUR streets and make demands. Some even have the nerve to tell us that we "Need" them.
Well, Mr. Calderon, I have the pride in my country that Mexicans in Mexico have in their country. How would they react if a bunch of gringos illegally crossed over their border, and groups of hundreds or thousands of us marched in their streets carrying American flags and demand that they let us stay? How do you think they would react to that? I think you know, Mr. Calderon. And that's how I react, Mr. Calderon. Every time I see hundreds of illegals marching, protesting or making demands it solidifies my anger and resove to defend my country against their agression.

I've done some research on what Calderon and Navarro are all about. I found some of the stuff shocking and alarming, and to think that these guys are putting their Reconquista/anti-Americanism into the heads of young Latinos angers me to no end. These guys aren't going to help Latinos...they are only going to keep them down with idiotic theories.

Here are some links about these two gentlemen so you can read what they are all about. Also, included in the links are their personal emails so people can email them with their thoughts and concerns, and you can bet I am:

Manny, I really don't think that people like you understand how we feel about our country. Possibly the only way to explain it is to think about how the people of Mexico feel about their country. And if 12 to 15 million white Americans had illegally crossed their border, and more were coming. And if these millions of Americans were marching in their streets and holding rallies and protests to force them to let the Americans stay. Marching down their streets carrying American flags and calling them racists if they object to us flooding their country. If Americans did that to Mexico, don't you think they have the right to object or be upset about it. I think they would. And if they wanted the Americans to go back to United States that would be their right to feel that way. And it wouldn't make them racist to feel that way. It would just mean they were upset because we were disrespecting their country by first illegally crossing their borders, secondly by not leaving, and thirdly by feeling they DEMANDING, not asking, that they let us stay. Just think of it that way for a while.

Does anyone else feel as disgusted as I do when a group unites, based on their ethnicity, to promote a political agenda? I mean, if the "Caucasian-Americans " united to force politicians to vote for the immediate removal of all illegal immigrants, wouldn't the rest of Country be up in arms crying racism?

Perhaps I could take a queue from Mr. Calderon and say that "Our American communities, including many Latinos, are tired of immigration-enforcement policies that have not resulted in the deportation of undocumented immigrants who continue to be a burden on all taxpaying Americans in this country."

So, when does it stop? If the United States were to grant citizenship to 12-million undocumented immigrants, how long do you think it would be before 12-million more illegally immigrated in the hopes that they too would gain citizenship?

Better yet, how would the "Latino Community" feel if the next 12-million illegal immigrates were say Chinese people who would be willing to do the same jobs that the current illegal immigrants do for half the cost? Do you think Mr. Calderon would be rallying for their citizenship as-well?

There is a path for citizenship in this country that should be followed and supported. This economy, and our standard of living, cannot sustain wave after wave of illegal immigrants.

The next time someone argues with you and tells you that illegal immigrants only come here to work, take that person directly to the Department of Social Services or "Welfare Office" in Ontario. Take them directly to the center of the room, stand there and look around the entire room. Then ask them what they see, and what language the people are speaking.

As a California born Mexican-American, it's easy for me to distinguish between American born Latinos and someone who has migrated here. And the vast majority of the women in that office getting their benefits and NOT born here.

But don't take my word for it. Just walk in there yourself and make your observation.

Mr. Calderon raises a valid point, we do need to address the issue of immigration reform.

Lets do this, if you crossed illegally are caught and want to stay, you serve in the miltary for 4 years your record is cleaned of your crime. You are then granted citizenship. If you you don't want to serve, see ya later, you and all your children.

As far as all you reconquista dumb@#$#. Get over it. Your homeland sold you out, your homeland got it's collective rearend handed to it almost 150 years ago. If you to reconquista any thing ... reconquista Mexico. Stop running up north to solve your problems.

If you want to become a citizen, do it legally. I'm sorry you are not used to a counrty that has an infrastructure that works, but thats the way it is.

Next, in order to help the assimilation of all our naturalized & legal immigrants, Stop printing all state forms in multiple languages. The accepted ( not legally recognized ) language is english. How mwny fortune 500 companies are going to hire Johnny when he doesn't hablo engles.

My family has 5 generations that owned rancheros in Nuevo Mexico, so don't let the name fool you. My sangre & pride run deep. My family recognizes our unique culture as well as it individual diversity as well.

In closing, stop perpetuating the myth, and the bias will go away. Take responibility for your actions and don't look for a hand out, look to better yourself.

My country, if you follow the rules will help you realize your dream, more than you can ever imagine. It's not easy, you have to put up with complacantcy, however, don't give up. You have sacrificed far too much already just too give up at your new beginning.

If you don't want to adhere to the rules ... I say ICE'm up and bus or fly your law breaking rear ends & your siblings back to your country of origin.
