LOL You can have the same strong faith he had. Just believe, trust, and live you life as you know you should. Set an example for others. I asked the question about Mr. Russert's philosophy on life because it seems many extreme left wingers seem to think his almost a saint, and many extreme rightwingers portray him as a demon. The people who want the taxpayer to pay for our existence, would probably disagree with what he told his son. "You are loved, but you are not entitled." He believed one must work and do whatever it takes to take care of oneself. He said his dad worked 2 jobs to support his family and never, never complained. His dad felt it was his responsibility to provide for his family, not the responsibility of anyone else. What a nice attitude and sentiment. Wow. "You are loved, but you are not entitled." What a profound statement. Maybe there wouldnt be so many Britteny's, Paris, Lindsay's, Olsen twins in this world if more parents thought that way. The "Nanny" would go off of the air. We helped our daughters out while they were going to college but they also worked and paid for things as well. We were blessed and lucky that we were able to do that. They are both on their own now and doing well. but even as youngster they had chores to do around the house and did not have things handed to them. But they also never wanted for anything. I worked hard all of my life, so has my husband. No body ever gave us anything. What we got we earned. We have instilled this into our daughters. Our son in law was raised pretty much the same way. Spent 7 yrs in the guard, 3 tours to the middle east to get his degree. He is a hard worker and a wonderful person. Hopefully some day our grandkids will be raised the same work. Nothing like an honest days work to make you feel good and appreciate the things that you have by having that hoest days work. Sorry I rambled.

I too raised a son who is kind, helps others, and works hard. Unfortunately I did it alone since my husband died the same way Mr Russert did, but at the age of 30. Our son was 9 months old. My son was a joy and a happy child. I too worked hard to raise his to be responsible, and earned my engineering degree at the age of 40. Life isn't always fair and sometimes hard, but our rewards are usually in direct proportion to the amount of time and sacrifice we devote to trying to make things as good as we can.

It's not unusual for men to have feminine names. I went to school with a man named Connie and one named Shirley. Frank Sinatra's birth name was Francis. Marion Berry was the mayor of Washington D.C. There are alot of male Terry's out here AND now you know, at least two male Kim's!

Carolyn, you are a fool going to the malls spending your retirement things you don't need. When will you learn, when it's too late.

My heart goes out to you. You deserve a standing O for what you have done. God Bless you. You are so right that life isn't always fair, but your rewards are great. My hat's off to you. I have been blessed with a hubby (27yrs) with a great job and the chance to stay at home with our girls till the youngest was in K, and them I went back to work part time. At 60 I am now retired and hubs will retire in Jan. I have so many great things in my life to be thankfull for. I wish you the best that life has to offer. You deserve it.

I too have many great things and great frinds in my life to be thankful for. Life is full of many rewards and good people. Too often, some are too busy complaining about what they don't have instead of being thankful for what they do have.

Have you seen this video about Chris Matthews using Russert's death to score political points against the Iraq war? http://www.eyeblast.tv/public/video.aspx... (Shameless self promotion – it’s from the organization I work for). But, it’s a great video and you should check it out anyway.
