How can he not know raciam exists. His pastor preached it every Sunday.<quoted text>
No. But it is a problem, particularly with this candidacy and election. It cannot be denied.
It was smart for him to address it.

1 A constitution that provided equality for all people? Yeah, except BLACKS (back then). To pretend this divide doesn't exist is naive and dillusional. And it's only been exacerbated throughout generations. I find it hard to believe that you were ever 'on the fence' regarding your vote when you're so quick to jump on a man for talking the truth. Perhaps his views are very similar to MLK? Does that make him ingenuine? No! No more than you driving the same kind of car as your neighbor, makes you a fake. A lot of people believe the same things that Obama had the guts to bring up today. Does that mean we are all disingenuous? We've all said the same things - around our dinner tables or in our hair salons - just like he said. Does that mean we're fake? I don't think there's a thing he could have said that would have appeased you. I'm not surprised by this, either, because I know there are many people who would not be satisfied with any candidate, if it were Jesus Himself running, they would stone him to death with egoistic doubt, fear and hate. |

1 You want imply the slavery states who wanted to count blacks as 3/5 of there population is slavery stain on the Constition today. I'm sorry but it was added in 1787 then after the Civil war it was changed.(Following the Civil War and the abolition of slavery by the Thirteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution (1865), the three-fifths clause was rendered moot. Section 2 of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution (1868) later superseded Article 1, Section 2, Clause 3. It specifically states that "Representatives shall be apportioned ...counting the whole number of persons in each State, excluding Indians not taxed...") The Constition was fixed it originally had nothing to with slavery but winning the Presidential election using a numbers game. What about white women shouldn't they have a stain on the constition then for not counting for votes. You and Obama are using the past history of the Constitution and holding on to it when Obama speaks of CHANGE. THAT MEAN'S GET OVER HISTORY BUT LEARN FROM IT TO BETTER OUR SELVES, JUST LIKE OUR FATHERS OF THIS COUNTRY DID!! I guess he doesn't repesent CHANGE then! |

1 If a white candidate belonged to a church FOR 20 YEARS where the minister promoted an anti-black, anti-Semitic theology he would be roundly subject to criticism (assuming his candidacy would even be viable in the face of this background). Look what happened to Ferraro after her statement. Why should Obama get a pass? |

1 When the constitution was written, no one in that era even remotely considered that the black man was a man. They were slaves and were considered no more than any other farm animal. If one got sick they called the vet. Even most of the signers of the Declaration of Independence had slaves. Today, most everyone will say how deplorable that was, but it was the way of times at that time. It wasn't new or something that came about with the new world. Slavery had existed throught the history of the world. This country was founded on the backs of slaves. To say that the constitution was stained is to ignore the very facts that gave us the constitution. We hear every day that it was our horrible ancesters that enslaved the black people and anybody that says anything negative about a black person is racist and bigoted. The old history books that were taught when I went to school showed pictures of the shipping cabins lining the shores of Africa where the Black tribal people brought their own sons, daughters, neices, nephews, cousins, and friends along with their neighbors to these cabins and sold them to the traders in the ships. Funny how History manages to be rewritten to accomadate current beliefs. Prime example (the sealing of the records of MLK, couldn't let anyone know the real facts about that man, Have to keep the dream alive). There is plenty of blame to go around, it wasn't just the whites. |

1 The big problem is just how effective will he truely be if elected. He could very easily get the Carter treatment. |

1 Nothing Obama could have said would have appeased you. So far, everything you've suggested he "should have said," he DID say. You just didn't hear it. |

no, buzz, you're wrong ... in the sunday interview he DISTINCLY said "had i heard pastor wright say any of those controversial remarks, i WOULD have confronted him then and there" "no, i never heard him say anything like that"... hey, i know you're all up his ass, and that's fine for you. i'm NOT stiriing up any mud, i'm just holding him accountable for what he said ... just like ALL the other candidates were, and are held accountable...nothing more, nothing less ... it's your problem you think the guy walks on water... i don't think ANY of them even come close. |

1 It's also fun to watch. McCain and Hillary gotta love this. I just hope it's enough to tilt the Super Delagates in Hillary's favor and end this thing on the Democrat side. |

1 This does not sound like someone who wants to UNITE. If Obama becomes President, he would only make a greater division between races mainly blacks vs everyone else. Wright has had a major influence on Obama's beliefs since he was a young man and continued for over 25 years. This is of significant importance when considering him as a choice for President. |

1 See hears the problem hard Obama supporters are like a cult no matter what happens with Obama they smell roses, instead of being open to new information. I know I went to 4 of his rallys a nd people looked like they were in a trance which bothered, but I let it go until the last month. I've to a Romney and a Clinton Rally people cheered but I didn't see passing out, crying, and praising during there rallies. If you don't open yourself up to other candidates all the time then what do you really know you oen candidate! I'm an Independent the issues matter to me not race, I started questioning him most when his ideas were very simiar to Clinton who has had his ideas available twice as long as him! I'm up in the air Clinton or Mccain thee veted and I know were they stand, instead of hoping fo Obama! I thought he could Change my mind, I was wrong about Obama! |

1 the main thing i got out of that speech was barak saying...look, slavery happened, jim crow happened and yes there are angry blacks and now angry whites as well, but what you gonna do...keep the status quo, fearing blacks latinos, blaming the white man for the ills of life...or are we going to come together as "americans ", and get some thing done. profound. i think he gave america an ultimatum. if you dont elect me, you will be getting the same thing year after year. pretty audacious. then again, its barak obama. |

1 "Liberal" has no specific meaning anymore. I suppose you mean one of these things - pro-choice anti-war pro national healthcare pro science for public schools (no vouchers) anti federal deficit That's what Fox News considers "liberal" and over 60% of all Americans support EACH one of these positions. btw - I don't support national healthcare but will take it to get out of this insane war. |
