The extremes in a lot of the teams can be dizzying, and the dependence on a few players to anchor even more consistent rosters than the Galaxy's can make it rough following MLS (although never boring I guess).
Zidane was interviewed during a second half of season collapse, at Real Madrid, which followed such a brilliant start that even the pundits were speechless. It was in the midst of the "Galactico" era with RM having gutted its defense in order to pay for its star offense (sound familiar?) which really did include the best players in the world at the time. When asked what was going on, Zidane said that no team could succeed if that dependent on a handful of players, because no matter who they are all players have bad games, injuries, slumps. I believe the quote was, "after all we are only human" -- not easy to believe when watching him, but if he said so...
And I'm not just talking about MLS "stars." The teams don't have enough depth anywhere to weather (pun intended) the season and the distances they cover. With more games of various types added, and more internationals joining (and coming and going in) the league, risks of injury and fatigue throughout the teams increase.(I won't get started on plastic turf).

Dear Mr. Nick Green: I've a question for you: Did youe ver play the game, or are you one of those guys who covered sports for your high school or college sports? Reason my asking is 'cause your observations and comparisons leave a lot to be desired since you've willfully have forgotten that the MLS has been around a very short time, while the rest of the world is ancient by comparison. So let us know if you did play the beautiful game, or just played kickball and "four square ball?"

It is always interesting when people respond to thoughtful criticism with personal attacks. Almost like they couldn't take the time to rebut, or form a coherent counter-thought, or recognize a healthy discussion. Me thinks Coach Ric doth protest too much (yes he played - and he was hot)

Coach Ric, the fact that MLS has been around a short time compared with the Bundesliga or Serie A (remember, the Premier Leauge as we currently know it only came about in the 1990s) doesn't excuse Galaxy management's incompetence, malfeasance or arrogance. The Galaxy dumps Chris Albright, ostensibly for salary-cap reasons, yet keeps the woefully incompetent Dis-abel Xavier? They sign another defender, Celestine Babayaro, only to waive him before the season? They dump Kyle Martino only to sign the slow and past-his-prime Joe Franchino? Who's evaluating talent and making personnel decisions for this team, the Wizard of Oz?

Right. How long do you expect that "success" to continue with 1)Beckham and Donovan leaving for World Cup qualifiers 2)a sieve for a defense 3)a coach who is still getting used to the league 4)a sieve for a defense 5)Abel Xavier playing in the back 6)a second-half schedule that put the Galaxy on the road for most of it 7)a sieve for a defense.

Galaxy and MAYO CLINIC, it's pathetic that you confuse telling the truth with "hating"....
Besides, even if I were a Chivas USA fan (which I'm not), that wouldn't change the truth one bit.

Galaxy looked really good tonight, would have beat the best team in the league if Donovan was healthy.
