Shouldn't the headline be "Mapp's goal lifts Fire over DC United"? Only one goal was needed to win this game.

Blanco is the star but seriously, give Mapp some credit here.

Whattaya want? Gotta remember that they're only paying these wonks a pittance to write these "headlines." Or maybe they've found a way to get their computer to generate something for headlines now. It's all about money. Plus, you can tell, there's no one on the Trib staff who really covers Soccer. Isn't Luis Arroyave an independent? I think they just contract out for the stuff they get from him. I suspect if you walked into the Trib Sports Staff area and asked "What's the term "pitch" mean in soccer?" the result would be about 6 people Googling for the answer. Bottom line is if you're reading the Trib for soccer coverage you must be doing so partly just to laugh at the poor coverage. There's not much else there that's worth seeing, aside from the links to Luis, of course.

Blanco scored the 2nd goal which makes much more difference than 1-0. What's the problem? Is it that Blanco is Mexican? come on, get a life, he's a superstar and he is Mexican, whether you like it or not.
