Guess MLS has failed... Not even the AP's MLS coverage is intelligible anymore. That must mean it doesn't matter a whit. Which means us fans of MLS don't matter a whit anymore either. Remember that when you read the Trib's advertising. Consider how you feel about each advertiser's decision to sponser this drivel.

First time I see comments about the Fire, Wow! The American media don't want soccer to succed.

US media has always resisted soccer. The Fire has always had one or two radio stations carrying their games; in Polish and Spanish. Don't believe they've ever provided English language coverage on the radio. I'm not certain how much the Fire franchise has to do with that decision, but if they had ANYTHING to do with it they should forfeit the franchise. Still the media itself (the giant slug!) is by far the greater impediment.

Toyota Park is so beautiful and the atmosphere there is great, I know a lot of Poles from Chicago go watch the Fire. we hope to join the MLS soon.

the Red Card has been deleted. I guess we know what that means for the prospects of a revival of that blog. I guess it doesn't help that the team is getting weak attendance and a front office that does little/no proper marketing.
I'm pretty sure the Red Stars are a better draw. Hell, I hear more about them than I do the Fire and I live in f'n LA! Let's get it together F.O. and work on the public relations! |

Yes the old blog is gone. A new one has been started however. It's been titled Chicago Fire Confidential and is at: http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/chicago-fire-... It's been up for about 3 days or so now. It's not listed on the Tribune Sports page with the other blogs, but if you go to the Trib's Sports/Fire-Soccer page it's linked there. |
