House GOP plans to target health-care law bit by bit

Full story: DispatchPolitics

As the incoming Republican leaders in the House seek to make good on their campaign promise to roll back President Barack Obama's health-care overhaul, they say they intend to use their new muscle to cut off money for the law, setting up a series of partisan clashes and testing Democratic commitment to the legislation.

Good! Heatlh care needs some fixes, the obvious ones that need addressed were not and the mess that's been passed will have a negative effect on everyone.

Good for the new Congress. The POS healthcar bill the dems say is so wonderful was designed in secret, with some provisions added in the dead of night, over 2000+ pages and filled with non healthcare related pork.
And finally it was NOT READ even by some of the elite that designed it.
Scrap it, gut it and start over.

There is no doubt that the healthcare bill needs some tweaking and modifications but not at the expense of the good parts. Measures also need to be added to regulate unwarranted premium increases.

The bottom line is for Congress to work together for the benefit of Americans and not just to wage partisan wars.

My Medicare premiums went up, benefits went down and my Humana premiums and copays went up. All together our premiums went up $504 and our copays went up $5 to $11 per visit. Forcing insurance companies to insure persons with existing conditions is like wrecking your car, then buying insurance and expecting the insurance company to fix it.

So in your world Liddleguy, let's say a person who is being treated for high blood pressure loses his job, and health insurance. He gets a new job, but his new insurance company says "Sorry", your blood pressure problem was before our time. You have to pay for your medications yourself. This is why we needed health care reform in the first place, and why I might remind you, was partially why Obama was elected President.

Mike DeWine has promised to waste millions of dollars of taxpayer money to fight the healthcare reform law, just to show those Teabirchers he's tough! The case will be thrown out, and DeWine will still be a hero to the ignorant.

In case you missed it, the case has passed the preliminary test for whether it has standing to go forward. The judge ruled the case should go forward. You were probably to busy getting your welfare check and trying to sign-up for that free health capre (paid for by productive members of society) to notice.

Obama lied to people who get their insurance from their employer when he repeatedly said that if you like your employer's plan, you can keep it and nothing is going to change. The Republicans need to do whatever it takes to make sure Obama lives up to that promise. What good is providing health insurance to 30 millions when hundreds of millions will lose their insurance, unless you intended this all along to build up reliance on the government. Thank God the Republicans will start to undo the hurt Obama placed on people who have enployer-provided insurance.

In the typical case, pre-existing conditions are covered by employee-sponsored plans. So, the guy moving to a new job with benefits is covered. The only exception is that coverage may not kick in for up to 90 days after other coverages from the new employer start. Try again with another lie to support Obama.

I'm still trying to find justification in the Constitution that says the federal government has an inkling of say in how we get our health care. Anybody?

Left-wingers are very selective when they become concerned about "taxpayer dollars".

They don't care about the liberal progressives' bankrupting of America by throwing taxpayer dollars at the unsustainable and corrupt government takeover of the health care system, the economics of which were based on lies and distortion and have since been proven to be totally false.

They don't care about the fact that the left-wing radical Community Organizer and his cronies in the Congress stole $1 trillion of "taxpayer dollars" from the American people in order to pay off unions and special interest groups in order to buy votes and game the system.

On a simpler note, liberals could care less about the Community Organizer and Marie Antoinette taking extravagant trips all over the world (does $200 million a day to go to India with numerous jets and a fleet of 34 ships ring a bell?), living exactly as the evil narcissists with a tremendous sense of self-entitlement that they are.

Ignoramuses like you are the reason why we find ourselves in such a mess.

A slow death is welcomed for Obamacare just as much as a fast one.

This is less typical. The problem is that if you lost coverage for a length of time, particularly common in a recession, companies are denying coverage based on pre-existing conditions. Just about everyone has a pre-existing condition. Plus health insurance companies are expanding exclusions which have the same effect. If you've dealt with insurance companies, you know they operate outside the law and have special protections that limit consumers rights.

Prior Obamacare, my employer said that health care costs were rising at 25%/yr and we could either have raises or health care. I doubt VERY much people want to roll back to being dropped from coverage and having to go bankrupt to get care. Nor will people agree with the GOP plan which centers on tort-reform to benefit doctors and savings accounts which does no good if you have little or no disposable incomes.

In fact, Ohio has had tort reform for years now and our costs are going up faster than surrounding states that did NOT enact tort reform. The only people who benefit from the GOP plan are doctors, health insurance execs, and the senators/reps who get the kickbacks.

I agree! In fact, this is a historic opportunity that cannot be passed up. This is the chance to eliminate ALL government health care: Medicare, Medicaid and the VA system. Health care is not a right. No one should be required to subsidize another's healthcare. This has many advantages: it will go a long way to balancing the federal budget; WILL balance state budgets; and it will reduce costs as demand will decrease (less people will see medical professionals and pay less for drugs if it isn't free).

Ten years ago Republicans turned their back on their own philosophy of fiscal responsibility when they had the once-in-a-generation opportunity to put this country on that track. Do not let them off the hook this time. Cut spending.

Things that make you go, hmmmmm: "Calculations by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office and other independent fiscal experts show that the $1.1 trillion cost over the next 10 years of the Medicare prescription drug program, which the Republican-controlled Congress adopted in 2003, by itself would add more to the deficit than the combined costs of the bailout, the stimulus and the health care law." And here's Bloomberg: The TARP bailout "provided taxpayers with higher returns than they could have made buying 30-year Treasury bonds -- enough money to fund the Securities and Exchange Commission for the next two decades. The government has earned $25.2 billion on its investment of $309 billion in banks and insurance companies, an 8.2 percent return over two years."

The question is why are people talking about Health Care Reform when they should be talking about Medicare.

You may love you-know-who to bits, but right now their ditzy attitude is driving you nuts. Is it because someone's being vague and flaky, or saying one thing and doing another? Be patient, because losing your temper will only make things worse than ever. Be careful if you're involved in a property deal and it's reached a crucial stage, because you may not be thinking as clearly as you imagine.
