Hey Crickette, I wanted to stop by here and see what you think of your new Governor?
He's not MY governor, and time will tell. Hopefully, he's got more sense than that ignorant power-hungry *itch that was in the governor's chair previously. She should be impeached.

I live in St. Bernard and it sickens me to read these words.. Bickering back in forth in your chair in your house in front of your computer while we, the people who actually have the right to bicker, sit and wait for the ninnies to stop suckling long enough for us to get our heads above water. You want to help...never let anyone turn a blind eye to some one elses suffering. I pray you never have to hear the sound of hundreds of people drowning, crying, and praying for mercy all while being abandoned by our fellow man. As a point of interest the first of the rescuers to arrive in my little parish were not American, but Canadians that boated in despite the warnings of federal and local law enforcements. Count your blessings everyday and never turn your nose up or your back on your fellow man.

Last week when the fires ravaged San Diego, there were fire fighting aircraft GROUNDED at the airport because the appropriate reports, requests, permits, etc. weren't filled out.

What does this tell you? STOP EXPECTING THE FEDERAL GUBBERMINT TO SOLVE PROBLEMS. They are miserable failures at solving anything-- look at Iraq, the federal deficit, the Social Security system. Fix it LOCALLY. If your state is prone to hurricanes, set up zoning so that people can't build BELOW SEA LEVEL. Get rid of corrupt politicians so that buses aren't sitting in a parking lot while people are stranded in front of a storm.

I went through Greensburg, Kansas two weeks after they were completely wiped off the face of the earth. The storm ripped the bark off the trees. Today, quietly, they are rebuilding. Yes, they are a smaller problem than New Orleans. But six months after the tornado, schools are running, buildings going up. And it didn't take over $400K PER PERSON to fix the problem.

And Stace, it is people like you, who see the true picture, as a human being that has not only seen the suffering first hand, but has struggled day in and day out with the reality- not the picture that the media paints and the politicians skew. Thank you for being one of the ones on here that actually make sense.

... and once again, you miss the point- so, I am done trying to explain it to you. You choose to close your mind and see the reality, your choice, your ignorance. Live with it and remember that what you give to others is what you will receive.

i wouldnt say it should be banned to speak it, but i just think we should not have to make all the directions everywhere in spanish too.
besides adding to the cost of the product, english is the language of the US, millions of people who come over from other countries learned the english language, why should things be any different now?
this is america not a spanish country. lets not forget that!

They let $20,000,000.oo, of ICE stay in Semi-Trailers set and ruin. Yes, that's $20 million. They left it in Freezer Trailers and just in '07 did they get rid of it. It was asked "Why not take it on down to NOLA for them?" They were afraid it was spoiled.

I know... there was too much wasted unnecessarily and the citizens take the blame for it...

That used to be a true American! Now she is in the minority. "Do it yourself" has been replaced by "Do it for me, now!" Kinda funny watching the water rise in New Orleans and all the sheep looking at eachother while the water kept on risin. A beautiful lesson in humanity, humility, and self-reliance.

what was so funny about it?

After reading this, i'm convince that the right wing is full of heartless, selfish bastards.

vote obama 08! George Bush has American people homeless or about to loose their homes, fighting an unjustified war, but the rich are still eating and living good, like good repugentens. McCain, being a loyal puppy that he is, readily accepted his endorsment. Dogs are only as good as their owners. Vote Obama for a better future.

ccbeauty, one thing that Topix has taught me, is that although kindness and compassion is a trait that many humans have, so is ridicule and selfish greater than thou idiocity from jack*sses who have no purpose other than to find humor in others suffering. They just can't help it. Don't take comments like that personally, although I know it's difficult not to, but it only eats away at you and makes you lose focus on what is important. Good luck in N.O.- my thoughts and prayers are with you and I miss my hometown terribly.

You know what? My husband and I were renting prior to Katrina and after the hurricane our laandlord almost tripled our rent. No way we could afford that. What did we do? We did what we had to do as responsible human beings. We moved somewhere else...with a 2 month old baby no less. Did we want to leave the city we loved? No. Will we ever be able to afford to move back? We will have to wait and watch rental prices, the job market and the crime rate. I am sick of hearing about poor Kartina victims. At some point you have to take responsibility and a lot of people are choosing to be victims.
