It's amazing that with so many "native" tribes opposing this that Congress would even allow this group to circumvent the process of becoming a legitimate federally recognized tribe. People in the community, please research this and let our leaders know this is wrong.

The Lumbee are a Native American tribe. Certificates of Indian blood and more certificates of Indian blood prove this, if not the obvious. The people claiming to be Tuscarora in NC are really just Lumbee separatists who figure it is easier to disassociate than continue fighting our battles. All NC people claiming to be Tuscarora have been sternly criticized and warned by the true Tuscarora in NY. The Eastern Band of Cherokee are nothing more than cultural supremists. Slavery has a new color...GREEN!

Most people in America are mixed blood, besides it is easy to be mixed when your women have been raped and the men have been oppressed by the 'dominant' race. I am 1/16 White on both sides of my family and the rest is pure Native American. Dear American citizen if you will do your research you will see that all most all Americans, including Natives, have more than one blood. Pick up a book, read, and learn something besides hate because it only show your ignorance.

The Lumbee people have been since the lost colony and we aren't hear seeking money, casino's or any tax payers money, we just want our right to countinue holding are heads high and showing that we are Native americans of the Lumbee Tribe and we are 100% honored and proud to be Native american. Why you would want to keep someone from being who they are I wouldn't understand. Its history, its all in our voice, in our walk, in our talk, in our everyday life, but most of all ITS IN OUR BLOOD.

It's about time we get the U.S. Congress has done the right thing by the Lumbee Tribe. I am proud of who I am. But getting tired of people assuming you don't speak English. Excuse you, but I do speak English thank-you. Walked away gracefully. I am prouder to say, I'm full-blooded and proud of it.
