Does anyone what their kids to smoke? No? Then why not outlaw them? We don't want our kids taking LSD, so we banned it.
Why keep cigarettes legal? |

This is ridiculous, how can the FDA approve the sale of cigarettes? That would be like an endorsement.

If the kids want to smoke, they will find a way, illegal or not. Kids still find ways to buy illegal drugs. Kids still find ways to get alcohol. Go get a damn clue. You are living inside your small, ignorant brain. You need a dose of reality, and you need to leave everyone else alone. IT's none of your goddamned business what other people do with their lives and bodies. You aren't better than anyone else, your opinion about anything isn't more important than anyone else's. Get off your high horse, and come back down to Earth. Or you can just stay way up there, although it's obvious that the lack of oxygen is affecting your thought process. |
|
As long as you don't use them around people that don't want to deal with it. |

Then let's have another ban on alcohol too. No where in the warnings on alcohol does it tell you that an over abundance of alcohol can cause death, yet many people have died from binge drinking. No where does it tell you that it can cause seizures, yet I have seen this with my own eyes, someone who had 21 seizures in less than 4 years, several of which he had in places where he injured himself and had to be hospitalized and in the meantime, totaled 4 automobiles. No where does it tell you it can cause your triglyceride rate to go up more than 5 times what is normal. We all know that cigarettes are bad for us, so is fast food but many people continue to eat it. Should we also have government ban fast food? What about automobiles? people are killed in automobile wrecks everyday, perhaps government should ban them, look at all the lives that will be saved and all the insurance claims that will never be made. I have yet to see anyone under the influence of a cigarette beat their wife or children, run a car up a telephone pole, run over a child, have a seizure, become obese, get arrested for driving under the influence of a cigarette, etc. Government does such a great job running things in this country, just look at all the food recalls recently, look at all the products that are being put into your food, hormones, pesticides, antibiotics, etc. Perhaps this is what is causing the illusive cancers that they can't find cures for. Our government cannot police them selves, their spending, embezzlement, corruption, lack of integrity, etc. Government doesn't need anymore control over our lives until they can control their own! |

to: Get Over It. Bite me!
so kids can get pot, cocaine, heroin... so we legalize them too? People murder each other... so legalize it? If we dont' what our kids doing it, why keep it legal? Why should we all pay the health costs of those who are self destructive? and GetOverIt... you're an ass.. go smoke a few packs |

You are living in a fantasy world. You are a true idiot.
Here's a thought, You know who is ultimately responsible for making sure their kids don't do drugs, drink, smoke, etc....? THE PARENTS. No amount of government regulation can substitute for GOOD PARENTING. If your kids smoke, it's THE PARENT'S FAULT. Kids screwing up in school? PARENT'S FAULT. Kids having sex? PARENT'S FAULT. You are one of those condescending as*holes who think that they are better than everyone else because they don't drink, eat meat, smoke, etc.... GO F*CK YOURSELF! You have no authority over anyone but YOU. I imagine you looking into the mirror, marveling at how "righteous" you are. You know, the NAZIS had a similar belief system. They believed that their was of life was better than everyone elses. Are you a NAZI? You sure do sound like one. Idiot, go GET A CLUE! I hope to god you aren't a parent yourself, I would pity those poor children. And no idiot, I don't smoke. But I have no problem with people who do smoke, last time I checked this country was free, and you had the GOD GIVEN RIGHT to do whatever the hell you wanted to with your body, without judegement by self absorbed condescending as*holes like youself. Go bury your head in the sand, and wait for REALITY to kick you in the ASS. Idiot. |

Time to OUTLAW football and race car racing plus the under arm smell stuff and people sticking smell stuff on themselves to smell good.
Let do away with horse back riding and swimming too---cost to many lives. While we are at it dogs should be outlawed too many people being bitten resulting in injuries or death. There is so many thing we got to do to save people from themselves--got get on the ball. If you stumb your toe today ---why it because someone smoked somewhere a mile or so away. No matter what your illness it is because you smoked or sometime in your life someone within a mile of you did. If you die for any reason it because someone smoked. Go to a doctors be skinny and tell tell them you do not smoke and they---just do not have a clue why you are ill. Above all it is NECESSARY in a so called free to country CONTROL it's Citizens and their use of plants and etc. ONLY THE GOVERNMENT should be able to DECIDE what Plant can be grown and how they can be use---NOT so called FREE Citizens for themselves. |

Oh, the defense mechanisms you addicts can come up with! Blame everyone else for your genetic weakness that has allowed you to be controlled by carcinogens. You will NEVER "get over it" because you're totally hooked and it's everybody else's fault. cough-cough, gag-gag, hack-hack! puff-puff. It won't be long and you'll be dragging your oxygen tank along with you to the casino where you play out another of your other addictions. |

Is is it still OK with the USA Government to eat Collar Greens seems some read the Government said it was DANGEROUS to eat POKE Salad, DRINK SASSAFRAS Tea and drink raw milk from the your milk cow.
Dang it----took the government long enough to let me know how my mother and father endangered my life as a kid and how do sixty five years later. But not like my father and Grand Father before who not only was endanger by their parents but used tobacco by smoking, chewing, dipping snuff and way back sniffing snuff. Poor things they all lived to their later 70's and early 80's when the life Span of people were shorter. |

Wanna slide down that slippery slope? What should we ban after cigarettes? Alcohol? Pornography? Literature? Bikinis? |

I see part of the arguement is that people have the right to smoke if they want to, etc. I agree. BUT, don't add their health costs to mine. Bad drivers are charged more for car insurance. Most insurance companies require a physical before issuing life insurance. Smokers should have to pay more for health insurance... or not be issued health coverage for smoking related illnesses. If we can't afford to insure all kids, then we can't afford to insure smokers.

You're disgusting and profane! I’m one of those addicted to cigarettes, have smoked for over 55 years and intend to continue to smoke in spite of you prohibitionists, the FDA and any laws passed making it illegal. The attempt to ban alcohol seems to have led to organized crime and it wouldn’t surprise me if a ban on tobacco did something equally harmful to our country. If they completely ban tobacco, I can merely switch to “another botanical,” probably one already illegal. Where I live that would be simple. Two of my four children DO smoke and since they are nearing 50 I certainly don’t question their habits. Nor did I do so when they were teens. And I believe that marijuana SHOULD be legalized with the same sort of controls as alcohol. I haven’t heard of kids using heroin but there are dozens of “designer drugs” available. And that claim that smokers run up costs for health care are at least questionable. Those against smoking claim that smokers live about 8 years less than non-smokers. The “costs” argument completely ignores the Social Security paid out during those years. And the taxes paid for cigarettes now are outrageous. I will go “smoke a few packs.” I go through about 3 a day and purchase 10 cartons at a time. Thanks for your permission. |

If you don't want your children to smoke, then teach them not to smoke and set the example for them. Personally, I am an adult and if I choose to smoke, then I should have that right as long as I don't smoke in your house or automobile or around your children. Why should you or our government have the right to dictate to me about what I smoke or eat or drink. To ban smoking will only promote a black market for the products. Children have to be taught, Adults have to take responsibility for their own behavior. |

So only the people with absolutely no harmful habits should be insured? Let's exclude alcohol drinkers, people with bad dietary habits, people who don't exercise enough, people who watch reality TV, anyone with an STD, etc. Maybe only the purest of heart and soul deserve medical coverage. I figure it's around 5% of the population. (BTW, smokers DO pay more for health insurance, and bad drivers raise EVERYONE'S auto insurance rates, not just their own.) |

above... but why should I have to fund your health insurance when we both know you will run up bills due to your foolish behavior? Go ahead and smoke, but don't ask me to help pay your health insurance or health care costs. If you choose to smoke, then be responsible for the consequences. If you take the risk, you pay the costs.
