This bares another look.
2007 Comprehensive immigration reform bill — S. 1639 Clinton, McCain and Obama voted for it. Declaring English as official language of the U.S. government — S. 1348, Amendment 1150 McCain voted for it; Clinton and Obama voted against. 2006 Building a fence along the Mexican border — H.R. 6061 Clinton, McCain and Obama voted for it. Establishing a guest-worker program — S. 2611 Clinton, McCain and Obama voted for it. Giving guest workers a path to citizenship — S. 2611, Amendment 3969 Clinton, McCain and Obama voted for it. Source: GNS research, Ontheissues.org These are our Presidencial candidates and there isn't a hairs breath of difference in any of them. We must stop the easy flow of illegals crossing our border. Followed by cutting off social tax payer funded programs to the illegals. We need to get a ruling on the 14 amendment about the status and meaning of anchor babies. It was never supposed to mean illegals using children to obtain a foothold here illegally. Next we need to systematically enforce the laws. Raise fines and penalties on businesses that hire illegals. Deport all illegals found living in the US. Make it a priority with all law enforcement to search out detain and deport all illegals in their area. Finally we need to make the citizenship process more user friendly. Speed it up and make it a desireable way to immigrate, instead of illegally. |

If no fence then are you advocating a "shoot to kill" military action to stop this violation of our laws? |

None of the leading presidential candidates speak about illegal immigration because they support it. If any candidate admitted to supporting illegals, most Americans would not vote for that person.

They all support it! McCain sponsored th amnesty bill and voted for it. Clinton voted for the amnesty bill and has wrapped herself in the Mexican Flag saying there is no such thing as illegal people in this country. Obama voted for the amnesty bill and has called for issuing driver's licenses to them as soon as they get here. Pelosi and Reid control their respective houses of congress and both enthusiastically support amnesty. Unless congress is reconfigured, amnesty will be a done-deal. |
LOL. I read the article you linked and it gave me a good laugh over my morning coffee. So some "scientists" - who coincidentally probably support open borders for illegal immigrants and amnesty and citizenship for the millions of criminal migrants already here - believe that the welfare of SEVENTY, that's right, folks, 7-0 "Sonoran pronghorns" supercedes the welfare of hundreds of millions of legal, law-abiding HUMAN residents of the United states. Give me a break. I'm a scientist, too, except my specialty deals with HUMAN behavior. I see guys like you on this forum with regularity, acting out their personal agendas by being provocative and oppositional in a passive aggressive way. You seem to think that by "yanking other people's chains", so to speak, that it proves your intellectual and moral superiority. Well, I've got news for you. Your childish antics betray your immaturity and lack of empathy for your fellow HUMAN BEINGS, characteristics of someone with unresolved resentments and frustrations and grandiose and narcissistic tendencies, rather than the self-actualized emotional giant that I'm sure you imagine yourself to be. After all, real maturity starts when you begin to understand the difference between right and wrong, and are able to act on this understanding in the best interest of others. And ironically, if you really do care about the plight of the poor downtrodden illegal immigrant as you profess, your actions are only serving to give ammunition to the opposition by raising their ire and motivating them to take further action. I personally don't know of anyone - from little old Grandmas to young people preparing to vote for the first time - that believe the immigration problem is a "back-burner" issue. Quite the opposite. Everyone I know expresses their frustration that not ONE of the top candidates for President support their very strong views that we need to start enforcing our immigration laws. Drastic measures like fences would be unneccessary if only our elected officials would insist that everyone abide by the law. Anyone who is sincere about "protecting wildlife" should therefore get on board in support of putting a stop to the epidemic of illegal immigration that is destroying the quality of life in America and making a mockery of our system of justice, and therefore our very way of life. Politicians ... are you listening? |

Well said, Native, and I agree 100%. I'm tired of being lectured by self-righteous people who don't seem to know the difference between right and wrong or legal and illegal. I know many American citizens who have been very negatively affected by the masses of "criminal migrants" that have been allowed to overrun their communities. I plan to vote for the candidate that takes the strongest stance against illegal immigration, regardless of their views on other so-called "hot, vote-getting" issues, because IMO, most of the problems we have in our country today can be directly or indirectly linked to our failure to enforce our immigration laws, including 9/11, the Iraqi "war", our health care and education crisis, the housing debacle, overcrowded roads and public facilities, the overburdened criminal justice and welfare system, and the economy in general - just to name a partial list. Almost everyone I know feels the same way. So LISTEN UP all yo candidates for public office, local, state and national! The American Public is speaking! |

Excellent and to the point comment!!! John will reach for any straw available to try and make himself look good when in reality he is for illegal aliens all the way. Makes ya wonder what business he is in. Want to tell us John? |

ALL WE NEED TO DO IS CHANGE OUR IMMIGRATION LAWS TO MATCH MEXICO`S LAWS. THEY ARE VERY STRICT. YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE CAUGHT IN MEXICO WITHOUT A VALID VISA. AND THE PRICE IS HIGH IF YOU OVER-STAY. THEY LAUGH AT OUR WEAK POLICIES AND COMPLETELY IGNORE THEM. IF WE JUST MATCH THEIR LAWS, THEN THERE WOULD BE NO "SPLAINING" TO DO. THEY WOULD GET THE PICTURE IMMEDIATELY.

You make some good points, but it's not feasible to locate all illegals living in the US. It's much less expensive to provide a path to legal residence and eventually citizenship. Then they can PAY taxes instead of costing us money to hunt them down send them home. |

One doesn't have to hunt them down. They are in all the factories, flea markets and health departments. Hell, they are there just for the taking. They aren't hiding by any means---just using false ID's, stolen Id's, and false papers. If I happen to cheat on my income tax, the IRS knows where I live, who I am, what I have done, and probably where I am going. Why should the illegal alien be given all the breaks? Nah, fine the employer (lose his business), take away the landlords property, quit with the assistance that was not meant for them anyhow and they will trickle on back to the house. There would be nothing to gain by being in this country illegally, but everthing to gain by being legal in every sense of the word. |

The BBC ( socialist ) did a story on how the illegals were leaving America on their own because they knew we were heading for a recession. The BBC said the new land of milk and honey for the illegal was Brazil.
I think if we take away all the government hand outs. Make it very uncomfortable for businesses to hire illegals, and they see somewhere else that seems better to them. Maybe we might not have to round very many up, but they will leave on their own. Then those that decide to stay. Maybe a couple hundred thousand, we give a quick path to citizenship to them. I ate at Don Papas last night and the food was wonderful. Everyone spoke mainly Spanish, but it was fun to try to order and learn a few words. I only mention this as an example. I do not have any problem with legal immigration and will spend my money in their businesses any time. Illegal is illegal. |

I agree with that. Why can't we reciprocate? No wonder the Mexican government laughs at the US. |
