2 That "American way of life" best identified with slavery and Jim Crow laws? That you view discrimination and bigotry as "The American Way of Life" is unspeakably sad. Why would ANYONE want to save that? |

3 If those who opposed marriage equality have an argument that was worthy of the light, they would openly state their beliefs without hiding. They hide through trickery of the internet, and are unwilling to show their faces. They are cowards who know that their cause is baseless. |

2 Bigotry is not a family value, and hasn't made anything or anybody great. The values that made this nation great are EQUALITY, and voting yes says you oppose equality and favor bigotry. |

2 Lie. There is nothing "radical" about the position of equality. Nothing could be more American. "Look at all the missing posts!" The hypocrisy of you whining about your posts which VIOLATE AN EASY TO UNDERSTAND USER AGREEMENT is massive. Using a French server, because you've been banned so many times, you have no respect for laws or rules, you only care for yourself and spreading your hate and lies. "Homosexual 'marriage' is a FRAUD." Lie. It's not "marriage," it's marriage and there's nothing fraudulent about it. They're as loving, as committed, and as married as anyone else. |

1 Blasphemous lie. God bestowed marriage upon couples who love one another and are committed, NOT merely to straight couples. You hate gay people...stop insulting our Lord and God, who gave you ONE LAW, to love ALL other people, by blaming God for YOUR bigotry, which is unChristian and unGodly. |

1 My family has as much value as yours. The fact that you would deny other families their happiness and protection under the law shows quite clearly that your idea of a great Country is rooted in bigotry and ignorance of reality. Just because you don't like something doesn't make it go away and we deserve the same rights and protections hetero couples enjoy now. I Deserve to marry the person I love and you will not deny me this regardless of how many baseless lies and scare-mongering tactics you try. If you can't handle it, them move to Jamaca and enjoy your backwards views in a truely backwards Country. This is MY AMERICA TOO and I say to those that can't allow others to live happily, GTFO NOW!!! |

1 What you just stated shows how your community are a bunch of hypocrites. I am looking at a real bigot and that is you. Grow up and stop acting childish. If you cant accept the laws of this country and the laws of each state. Why dont you GTFO of this country and move to Iran or something of that nature and see how much freedom you have in that country? |

1 Although I am not hopeful that reason and rationale will prevail in Maine, we are facing bad odds because all the old fogeys who believe everything the Catholic Church and the Mormon Church tell them are the ones who vote in mid-term elections. The two most ridiculous, immoral institutions in the world. And foolish people who can't think for themselves believe what these liars say. Some day things will be made right. But I sure would like to see some of that right-ness during my life time. |

1 Why would the beliefs of a church be of less value then the beliefs of gay people. |

1 They don't have less value as a belief, but when those beliefs are enacted into law just for the mere purpose of denying me the rights, equality and pursuit of happiness that is supposedly "guaranteed" to me as a U.S. Citizen, then the only value they hold is evilness and hatred. |

1 And it's also questionable why these beliefs can hold value to the believer only if he is able to trample down somebody else. Having the belief, and living your own life by it is not enough for these people. They want to utterly destroy those in their path that feel and believe differently. These "believers" have more in common with Hitler than with Jesus Christ. |

1 The problem is that a person's religion does not bar them from gaining marriage rights. Nor does a person's race. A person who is Baptist, Catholic, Jewish, Mormon, Scientologist, Buddhist, Hindu, Wiccan, Pagan, or what ever religion is not restricted from being a full citizen of this country. They have all the same rights as every other person. The question here really is, should the Government IMPOSE a religious ideology upon others. That is what the government is being asked to do here. The religious groups are asking that their religious view on marriage be made the absolute law of the land. The problem is that, in order to fully impose their views, not only must they make divorce illegal, but negate the First Amendment protections of and from religion. If you are Catholic, you do not have to engage in or oversee a same-sex marriage ceremony. However, what you are doing by denying even the civil meaning of marriage is denying rights to people. The question that Catholics, Jews, Mormons and others should be asking themselves is where will this stop. You know how people talk about the slippery slope? Try this one on for size. Catholics and Mormons are actively allying themselves with people who want their religions expunged from the United States. I got to witness that in the South first hand. History has shown that when a culture or a society does not have equality for all, they ultimately have equality for none. |
