Let's see if the Democrats would end the subsidy for ethanol too. Of course they won't. They are the sops for the farm lobby.

I'd bet a huge majority of the farmers are republicans. Most I know of are.

I think a lot of the farm subsidies could go away. Especially the ethanol, it seems ethanol takes an equal amount of energy to make it, 1:1, no savings except the subsidy. Ethanol made with sugar cane has a 1:8 energy to output ratio. So why corn? Sugar cane makes more sense if it can be grown here, or how about sugar beets.

As for the parties, they're both guilty of allowing non-beneficial subsidies. You never heard a single comment on ending any subsidies from any republicans now, did you.

Of course the big oil companies need subsidies and protection from the taxes that we common folk pay. 60 Billion in profit was not enough last quarter for big oil. Republicans get this, we will remember next November!

Glad you support using tax money to increase corporate profits. While we're at it, let's give several billion to banks (because our bank fees may have to increase otherwise) and several billion to Wall Street investment companies (because the bailouts were nice so the CEOs could make their multi-million performance bonuses). Glad to see the Tea Party champion the idea of keeping taxes high, let the kids pay for it!

You didn't get it huh?

Aren't democRATs special? Why don't they do something about the money we WASTE on ethanol, solar and windmill subsidies? Take away those subsidies, and they are nothing but money losers.

Or how about eliminating the 28% of the price of gas that goes to tax? Better than 1/4 of what we pay for gas goes to an entity that does NOTHING to discover, produce, distribute, transport or sell the product they are taxing. They just stick their hand in our pockets and grab.
