Gays in military: GOP blocks 'don't ask, don't tell' policy on gays

If I were in the military I would rejoice in the fact that this happened. I WOULD NOT want to be in the same bunk with a person who was of the same gender and had was gay. If you are gay there is nothing wrong with being discharged. They think that people are suppesd to tolerate this ABNORMAL lifestyle if you call it a lifestyle. I am a republican and I am glad that what happened did. Get the gays out of the military. They are not entiltled to the same things that straight people are entiltled to. For no higher than what the percentage is maybe 5% they sure can raise a stink higher than the clouds. We do not have to Tolerate gays whining and crying that they are the minority. Yes they are they are not normal!!!!

For your information, gays have served, fought and died for your right to such unbridled hate. I am a republican also, and I do not think being gay should protect anyone from serving on the front lines.

There were many cowards during Vietnam who claimed to be gay to keep from having to serve in the military, and frankly, I think they should have been put against the wall and shot. I didn't say what I was, one way or the other, because I didn't think it was anyone's business, but I am proud to have served, and though I am old, I would go back tomorrow, if they needed me. And don't you ever forget it!

I do not really give a dam about any civil rights aspects of this issue, I just believe that all young men should serve this country. period.

There was no way that the repubicans were gonna pass this extra crap which has nothing to do with military appropriations, just so Harry Reid could make points in an election he is on his way to losing.

These other issues, "don't ask; don't tell," and the so-called "dream act" should have been voted on as separate issues.

My views on don't ask; don't tell are pretty clear.

As to the "dream act," I have mixed feelings on that.

But I will say, that if someone has come to this country, legal or illegal, and they choose to love America enough that they are willing to die for it, as far as I'm concerned they should be granted citizenship upon reciept of their Honorable Discharge because in my opinion they have paid their dues, IN ADVANCE.

We watch you all the time and am dissapointed that you didnot mention that the Gay isssue was an earmark on a much larger issue. Shame on you for not giving the whold story of why the R's voted against the entire bill.
