Keep politics out of Medicare

Medicare has long been a partisan battlefield in Congress. And as Democrats and Republicans have clashed over how best to operate the federal program that provides health care for 44 million senior and disabled ...

If Medicare is cut any further more and more doctors will refuse to accept it.

As far as political parties working together, what is really needed is for a popular uprising to demand the end of "parties", "party whips", "party leader" and make these legislators even give u p their stupid way of sitting on opposite sides of the legislature hall when they meet. This is reinforcing the concept that they are so far apart that they cannot even stand to sit together for the good of the people?

I detest politics, and I detest politicians. If I had a son or daughter that wanted to "go into politics" I think I'd shoot them.
To me, a "D" after a name means 'Dumb" and an "R" means
"reprehensible". Americans should demand and fight for "Non-lettered representatives"

Congress needs to increase penalties and commit ample resources to stop Medicare fraud. For too long, Medicare fraud has been ignored. I hope Sen. Martinez get's the ball rolling. Email him with your encouragement.

The problem with our health care system is not the medical staff, but rather all the hoards of administrative overhead - doctor's/dentist's office help, insurance processors, drug salesmen, lobbists for interested parties, and on and on.

In act, most of your "medical expenses" go to those types - not the doctors.

I propose all future medical bills consist of 2 components - medical services for the medical professional time only; and a separate bill for all related administrative expenses.

Payments for the latter can be "squeezed" - doctor's office "administrators should not be making over $100,000 a year for office work!

Medicare was created by politics. It would be impossible to keep politics out of the equation. There should be a "no tamper" clause attached to it however.

If both parties would simply quit stealing money from the Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid trust funds and using the money for "various" other purposes, that would be a good start. Vote all the buffoons out. Most all are attorneys. Remember the yellow school bus at the bottom of the ocean with one empty seat. What a shame.

Gotta love those Dummycrats..
We don't need no stinkin' balanced budget...
God forbid the idiot dummycrats pass a law that let's them know when the "Medicare's general tax funding exceeds a threshold".
Noo, the dipwads would rather pretend that there's still money to fund all their other little fantasy programs..
But it's only been a couple of years since the Dummycrats have had the majority seats in office.. We MUST give them more time to come up with a plan,,, since all they really do is BIACH about others,, with absolutely NO REAL PLANS of their own..
Oh wait, that's Osamabama's schtick..
Chaaaaaaange,,, Chaaaaaaaange,,,, getting sleeeeeeepy..
Excuse me...??? George Bush inherited a budget SURPLUS from Bill Clinton eight years ago... and what has Bush done with it? We now have RECORD DEFICITS due to his reckless, corrupt and asinine policies. You go ahead and vote for four more years of this because you're too scared of higher taxes and a healthcare system that actually won't be thinking of how to make the quickest buck off you and your suffering.

And did Bill Clinton have 9/11 ? Did Bill Clinton have two simultaneous hot wars running in the Mid East? Did
Bill Clinton have a Congress that spent the peoples' money like water on entitlement programs like Medicare Part D ? The Congress is responsible for the budget and spending - The President can either approve of it or veto their bills.

Bill Clinton didn't have 9/11, but even George Bush Sr. wasn't stupid enough to knock off Hussein and get involved in an unwinnable war. And the younger George Bush had a REPUBLICAN Congress. Even so, I don't recall CONGRESS pushing for the War in Iraq... You defend Bush all you want, but he's ruined it for John McCain and the Republicans for the next ten years, if not longer.

""More-responsible lawmakers from both parties need to step forward and corral their colleagues into working together on Medicare's money"""Right there is the answer. We have no responsible lawmakers so this is a dead idea. Too many hands in the pot with financial interests: insurance companies, doctors, lawyers.

Defending our country... that's a laugh. Is that why he went after Iraq and Hussein when it was OSAMA that attacked us? Or perhaps "they're" all the same to you... can't tell the difference!
Defending our country... what a crock. Bush and his cronies have made it WORSE for the USA.

That's what they said about the sub-prime mortgage dealers and the big investment banks. But as it turns out, all the extra money went to pay for their salaries too - no good came of it.
