Haiti needs help now

I have been to Haiti and it is heartbreaking. America should help these poor people. We have the ability to make a difference. What is the hold up?

The problems in Haiti are because of the Haitians, we already give them 400 million dollars a year in aid and things never get better

why waste food and money..let them riot and overthrow the "government"

let's send all of our haitians back over ther to lend a hand. Darwinism can't work if we don't give it a chance.

Haiti is a cesspool.

The only logical move would be for the US to invade it, kill all the bureaucrats and pdolicians, and let the people elect new leaders.

We can use their oil to rebuild the nation.

What's that you say, there is no oil there! Well, then it ain't our problem.

Our country is in bad shape itself, if people want to donate, that is fine, but the government has done more than enough (with our tax dollars) for them!

They want to live in slums anyway, look at what they have done to the neighborhoods here!

Ridiculous. Send more money and more food when food is rotting on ships in the harbours because the Haitian government is too corrupt or incompetent, or both, to get the food off the ships and to the people before it spoils.

The only way for the US, UN, or any other country to help Haiti is assume government responsibilities for a decade or so and teach Haitians how to govern themselves.

The last thing the US needs is to make it easier for the Haitians already here to stay here. Send them back and have them help the country learn how to govern itself.

How long have we been helping Haiti out with billions and billions and billions of dollars?

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach that man how to fish and he will eat forever.

me i think it will be better if George Bush give those people in united state paper and help haiti . so if he give them paper they will able to send money to their familly in haiti

"Threat to Haiti's national security..." What a joke. Haiti has always been a sewer and always will be. No white people there so "it ain't" whiteys fault. Send the Haitians in Florida and America back to Haiti to save the country.

A Hatian brought the AIDS epidemic to America. This is a well known fact now. Americans are losing their homes, food bank supplies are dwindling due to higher demand, we need help here at home, for Americans. Let Jessee Jackson give his money to Haiti, since his mouth seems so at home there.

They were crooks then and they still are crooks. My "neighbors" stole bikes from all over town and shipped them back to Haiti. They took four or five from my locked back yard.

Plus they ate four of my cats.

Second: How do you profess to know "what God wants"? In general, anyone who claims to know that is arguing for being ignored.

Finally: How do you think we could ever possibly save the Haitians? They need to be saved FROM THEMSELVES. Their worst enemies arise from among themselves -- despots and evil greedy people who find themselves able to treat other human beings with savagery. Then there is their willful ignorance, the stupidity with which they spread AIDS and other diseases. Then there is their criminality -- as though they have never heard of the concept of law and order.

What should we do? Storm in there and FORCE them to bend to our way of living, so that they can prosper? Do you think that ANY people, ANY culture, would simply sit back and accept that? So that leaves the question, HOW do we help them? If they can't see OUR EXAMPLE of how to be prosperous and better off, I doubt we'd be able to impress upon them the need for them to change.
