What does that have to do with the article? Very poor taste, whatshanging. I hope this is was meant as a joking comment.

Maybe less than a dozen. They are just glad to drop off the kids and get them out of the house. Also I bet after the fence goes up,there will be weekend digs out there.Hoping for a blow so they can sue.

Wow. There are some really mean people in Fl. We are moving back after living in N.M. for a short while and decided on the Lee Vista area to be close to all the medical facilities (I have a chronic illness). We were to close the day after the story broke. It seems like many are angry that we would support the money hungry developers. How do we find a home? We tried to buy a older one but it was more than the new one--same model ! Many sellers are trying to make a lot of money on their homes. Are they greedy? I am an environmentalist of many years. Have used cloth grocery bags for over 15 years. I dry my clothes in the garage on lines. I don't like deforestation and sprawl either but how can you say that the families in the community "deserve' the potential contamination? The children deserve this because we didn't ask if there ever was a bomb site on the property? I am not stupid and my husband has a PhD. Does he need to go back to Middle School because he did not ask that question before deciding to buy there? Or are you just angry because he worked three jobs for most of his life and can afford a house of that price range? I don't get it. I don't resent those in Lake Nona for being able to buy million plus houses. The anger and lack of empathy in your comments makes me wonder about returning to Florida, my home for over 40 years. What has made you so angry? How long has it been your home? I can understand the world is harsh now and I don't agree with many things going on, but instead of getting angry and hateful with those I don't know, I go to the food line (Christian Service Center) downtown and serve lunches on Sunday. Perhaps you might like to try that too. It helps with the frustration with the world. If you don't, I won't think you "deserve" anything in particular, especially misfortune. Try a little more empathy if you can. The world sure needs more of that precious commodity now. In the meantime, check your carbon footprint and see if you have room to talk about those ruining the planet.
yo you

Wah Wah Wah! These dumbasses just want some kind of free government money or some kind of payout from the homebuilders.

Anything laying around since WWII is long ago inert. And everyone is aware Floirda was full of Army and Navy bases in WWII so this old government junk is everywhere from Sanford,Baldwin Park, off downtown, in the Ocala National forest.

Get over it already! I dont want out tax dollars to go to a bunch of homeowners that think we need to bail them out of their overpriced homes.

The ignorance, jealousy, and lack of compassion of the majority of those posting on this forum is a sad reflection of the human condition. The fact is, we the homeowners that live in this "bomb zone" worked very hard to get where we are. We had no idea that this area was a bomb zone over half a century ago. It happened long before most of us were born. And now, people say they think we deserve it if a bomb goes off in our backyard where our children are playing, or that lead poisoning can affect our family's long-term health and development. Just how sick are some of you people? I can understand if you live in a small home or work for minimum wage that their may be some level of jealousy that is fueling your words, but please, really think before you speak. We are real people facing a horrible situation. I for one have two daughters who are aged 5 and 2. The youngest of which, has a physical handicap. It took a long time to get where I am. I am from a large family and I have never had a dime handed to me that I didn't work for. To have this nightmare health issue thrust upon me and my neighbors while watching the value of our homes plummet overnight is not something I would wish on anyone. I truly home that US Homes/Lennar, the city and state governments, and the Army Corps of Engineers can come up with some kind of solution fast. People are living in fear and the situation needs to be addressed ASAP.

From all apparent current info the only problems you have are in your head.
Why don't you do yourself a favor and move?
Your home value was set two years ago when you purchased and you set that "value".
Anyone that purchased "new" at that time paid 30% more than the home was worth.
You were the one hung up in the ether, not me.
In 1998 dollars you paid twice what your house actually is worth.
Bombs didn't do it to you, you did it to yourself.

What the hell are you talking about? EPA reports from soil samples have already shown twice the levels of lead and other harmful chemicals. There are also global reports of ordinances in other countries that have gone off after longer than 50 years, so don't tell me there is not threat at all. I am not willing to place my faith in statistics. Also, I purchased my home at a pre-construction rate, so I certainly did not pay 30% more than what the home was worth. In the three years I've owned it, the value had gone up. I don't know where your pulling "1998" dollars from when most of us bought our homes between 2003-2004. Also, don't you think people would "just move" if it were that easy. I guess I could advertise my home like this. "2-story, 4-bedroom with a pool that backs up to a conservation area. By the way, the conservation is a former bomb site." Next time you want to give your two-cents on a forum, do some research and get the facts before you open your mouth and celebrate your ignorance.

Thank you for answering my reply.
You had complained in a prior post about the current "value" of your property but now acknowledge that that is not a problem.
You are now concerned about "BOMBS" that detonated in other countries years after they were dropped.
Those were "real" bombs.
The ones you are now concerned with were "practice" bombs that were display ordnance, meaning they gave visual evidence on impact but did not carry normal bomb detonation strength.
I will be satisfied with waiting to see the "actual" facts when they are presented.
I hope you get those soil samples right off of your property tested by an independent lab and if they are found to be out of the norm I will be one of the first backing your lawsuit.
What your real problem is my friend, your house "value" is not what you thought it was.
All the rest is.......

I think those people should go back and ask for their homes to be bought back. A similar situation happened in texas...and the homebuyers were able to have the builders buy back their homes. Totally unaccepted! What about the City they are also liable! What a horrible situation. Someone needs to do something about it.
I moved here from Texas 2 years ago during the height of the boom. So I unfortunately overpaid for a home I wasn't crazy about but at that time there was no new development to be had. I needed to be close to the airport and had a short timeframe in which to move and therefore decided to move to Vista Lakes since it was very close to the airport. If someone has any further information about the situation in Texas in which the homebuilder bought back the homes, I'd be interested......

You people are so mechanical, you disgust me. Your anger is pointed at the wrong people. If anything, be angry at the developers, rather than the homeowners. Alas, people need something to look hard-assed about.

Practice bombs? Give me a break, I think you ought to research this coz practice bombs dont need to be blown up and disposed of. Did you know a rocket with white phosporous was found by a construction person who burned himself, think about that. And bombs from WW2 are still just as much lethal as a bomb today. Sounds like many people here dont know what they are talking about. Let me tell you I bought a home there after retiring from the military and would like very much for Engles Homes to buy it back at the same price. I am now in Afghanistan and keep hearing about bombs in my neighborhood, what a crock this is to not be told about a bomb range that our home is being built on. If any landowner knew that do you really think we would have bought there. Financially its impossible to move or sell any home in Florida, most homes are foreclosed or short saled, so moving is not an option, but our families lives are in jeopardy. We have no clue if a bomb is under our homes. The Army Corp of Engineers is going there in April and May to certify our homes clear, but that is impossible to do since they cannot check under our homes. And yes a bomb under a house may go off due to home pressure exertion on the soil, earth movement, rusting etc. I am a weapons tech and know what I am talking about, we are screwed and the companies there are having class action against them. Engles filed bankruptcy already trying to get out of the entire mess.

Now think about what I just wrote next time your child goes to school where they find a bomb under the track in your neighborhood like they did at my son's school.
