I am sure that happens. But I know for a fact over the past 25 years I have been told to promote and hire far more minorities over whites than visa versa. To add to that I recently applied and interviewed for a position in Dade county, during the interview I was told the only reason I was interviewed was to make things look good ( sound familiar?). They had already chosen a candidate who is Hispanic. By the way both of the men interviewers were Hispanic, does that make it right??????

If you think once employers are passed the resume and head to the interview and there are no reservations about hiring a Hispanic or an African-American, you are living in Fantasia. In my department (and I work for a local County), the interview team knows in advancve who they're hiring even before a single interview is done, just for the sake of 'appearing' inclusive. The system is what it is, and that is why White Trash folk have absolutely no excuse to fuck up when the system is in their favor. That is a fact!

No offense however the hiring practices in Kissimmee could use a little review as well in those jobs that pay well. I speak from experience regarding that issue in government and governmental programs. I will cite one example and there are many. UCP that works with handicapped children, even though 50% of the population in Osceola is Hispanic rarely if ever hires a medical professional that is bi-lingual and Spanish. If you are not a blond blue eyed {simplistic analysis - sorry} with a degree from a Florida University you can not get hired. UCP is irreverently referred to as the {United Caucasian People} from medical professionals in the area.

After such negative and explosive attacks on the Hispanic people as a whole by casting blanket condemnations and linking illegal immigration to just about every ill that has befallen our nation just short of global warming, I seriously doubt the GOP will have much luck in obtaining any Hispanic votes other than those of Cubans. They will sell their mother to keep a Cuban embargo in place despite the fact that such stances hurt their own people and the GOP will glady comply for the sake of 'appearing' to be pro-Hispanic. The attacks were not on illegal immigrants, it was on Hispanics as a whole. In forums such as these, the majority of the hate-filled comments were against Hispanics who are not only illeggal immigrants, but citizens of our nation who, as a part of growth in many of our up and coming societies, have threatened the peace and tranquility of suburbians by reaching out and attempting to obtain a peace of the 'American' pie as well. So, why not try to create animosity and ill will by linking them to illegal immigration. To them, hell, they all look the same. "Just don't tread past my peaceful confines when looking to obtain a SFR in the next D.R. Horton or KB Homes project that happens to come along. I sure don't want my lil' Megan and Josh to mingle with you people. God forbid." So, this courtship, in the end, will end with the groom being bitch slapped in the face before they even enter the church to exchange vows. So, please, by all means, all you conservative cult members, spew your venom this morning. It will only speed up the process for the GOP Bitch Slap.
Maybe if you took off your own hate filled blinders you would see that it's not just Republicans or Conservatives who are against ILLEGAL immigration, and that the vast majority of this nation feel we are being inundated by criminals who flout our laws then act as if we're racist bad guys. I'm sure the millions of legal immigrants (hispanic and non) who took the years and thousands of dollars to come here the proper way are not anxious to see a bunch of border jumpers flood our country. I'm sure the millions who are still trying to come here legally are not in support of illegals jumping in front of them.

The Democrat party has effectively turned every minority into a victim that needs to be taken care of, cradle to grave, by a nanny state government. Blacks have been casting almost all of their votes for democrats for decades, yet their community is in a perpetual back slide that condemns them to a permanent underclass status. I don't think they saw this coming as a community due to people like you who paint Republicans and Conservatives as evil hate-filled racists, and now that they've been fed these lies for generations most don't even question it regardless of what they see in their daily lives. The same is destined to happen to Hispanics if they cast their lot in with Liberals and Democrats as the party is now run.

The Democrat mantra is "Yes we can", meaning it takes government assistance to achieve. The Republican mantra is "Yes YOU can", menaing you can achieve anything in this country if the government would just stay out of the way.

It is to my understanding and experience that Cubans tend to flock to the Republican Party more than any other Hispanic group. This is due to Cuban-Americans being more educated, financially independent, and successful, than their Latino cousins whovhave subscribed to the socialistic views of the Democrats.

It's no misquote when studies have shown that even under Castro, Cubans have a higer literacy rate than other Hispanics (and I think they have a higher literacy rate than those born in the US also).

Undocumented Workers have been part of this country for many years... surely you don't think 13 million of us arrived here overnight? It was never a problem until we started expanding into white surburbia; ... everything was fine when we were localized to ghettos of New York City, Los Angeles, etc. Now you're worried because we are spreading into white bread areas. You wait 20 more years... there going to be some big changes coming... you ain't seen nothing yet.

I can see how the Latinos are attracted to the Republican party since our conservatives are essentially the same as the banana republic dictatorships back home in Latin America.

GOP wrote their own obituary last summer with their disgraceful, disgusting, and monstrous rhatoric during the immigration debate. We heard you, GOP: you have become the white-anglo-saxon-protestant party in a diverse America, and you will be punished for that! Not a single sane, self-respecting minority(latino, asian, black) will vote GOP come November. They must be humiliated, not just defeated in November! Billy Bob must be put in his place once again!

George Bush has done more to boost the democratic party then any of the candidates. The GOP will be punished for abandoning their loyal constituents.

I disagree. Even with all of his gaffs and screwups, Bush seldom deliberately undercut his conservative base. McCain will lose the election because he specifically targets democrats as his base voter.

I agree with you, in part. Alike the Democratic Party, the GOP has been the beneficiary of some pretty extreme ideologists. That’s typical in a two-party system.

The problem between [some] Latinos and the GOP is that the party has permitted [empowered] the xenophobic cultural conservationist, in the likes of idiots like Tancredo, to define the party’s position on... err.., hum.., yikes.., well.., Latinos. Opposition to the ‘Voting Rights Act’, bilingual education, Spanish-language literature in public libraries,‘jus soli’ birthright, legal and illegal immigration among others.
Both (you and I), would find it inconceivable that a Puerto Rican or a Latino would be motivated to vote against one’s self interest. Yet the 2000 and 2004 elections saw 45% and 35%(respectively) Latino votes casted for Republicans.
Go figure!
