Latino Leaders Press Senators on Immigration Bill

Sen. Sessions outlined 10 reasons why the Senate should reject the DREAM Act:
•The DREAM Act Is NOT Limited to Children -- Applicants can be up to the age of 29
•The DREAM Act Will Be Funded On the Backs Of Hard Working, Law-Abiding Americans -- CBO failed to assess costs for education, increased levels of unemployment due to the addition of workers to the workforce, and increases in potential applicants because of loopholes.
•The DREAM Act PROVIDES SAFE HARBOR FOR ANY ALIEN, Including Criminals, From Being Removed or Deported If They Simply Submit An Application -- Burden of proving inaccurate information on a DREAM Act application is on the Department of Homeland Security.
•Certain Inadmissible Aliens, including those from high-risk regions, Will Be Eligible For Amnesty Under The DREAM Act
•Certain Criminal Aliens—including drunk drivers—Will Be Eligible For Amnesty Under The DREAM Act -- The DREAM Act allows applicants be convicted of 1 felony or up to 3 misdemeanors.
•Conservative Estimates Suggest That At Least 1.3 Million Illegal Aliens Will Be Eligible For the DREAM Act Amnesty. In Reality, We Have No Idea How Many Illegal Aliens Will Apply
•The DREAM Act Does Not Require That An Illegal Alien Finish Any Type of Degree (Vocational, Two-Year, or Bachelor’s Degree) As A Condition of Amnesty -- The applicant only has to complete the equivalent of two years of college.
•The DREAM Act Does Not Require That an Illegal Alien Complete Military Service As A Condition For Amnesty, and There Is already A Legal Process In Place For Illegal Aliens to Obtain U.S. Citizenship Through Military Service
•Despite Their Current Illegal Status, DREAM Act Aliens Will Be Given All The Rights That Legal Immigrants Receive—Including The Legal Right To Sponsor Their Parents and Extended Family Members For Immigration
•Current Illegal Aliens Will Get Federal Student Loans, Federal Work Study Programs, and Other Forms of Federal Financial Aid

Dems are slicing their own throat if they unrinate in the faces of citizen taxpayers like this. 2012 will make this past Nov look like a haircut if this travesty passes.

Samuel Rodriguez, the president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, said on a conference call Thursday.“To continue to punish these children is nothing less than anti-Christian, anti-Hispanic and anti-American.”'

This is how a 1st-year law student will counter that ludicrous statement: "OBJECTION, YOUR HONOR! SPECULATION! Rev. Samuel Rodriguez has no way of knowing what Abraham Lincoln was thinking about illegal aliens, which didn't exist then!"

WE ARE NOT PUNISHING THESE "CHILDREN." [When I say "children," it is tongue in cheek. 18-yr-olds to 29-yr-olds ARE NOT CHILDREN. They are adults, subject to the full weight of the laws -- yes, even immigration laws.] That's a tired and lame pro-amnesty slogan; it is illogical. Don't buy it.

First of all, these are not our children! These are children of foreign nationals, a.k.a. people who snuck across our borders without permission.

Secondly, any parent knows you cannot punish children who are not yours. What we do when faced with bratty neighbor kids is NOT INVITE them back into your home. By doing this, we are not punishing kids who are not ours; what we are doing is PROTECTING OUR CHILDREN AND PROPERTY FROM THEM. THE INTENT IS WHAT SHOULD BE JUDGED, AND IN THIS CASE, THE INTENT IS TO PROTECT OUR CHILDREN AND PROPERTY. What is wrong with that??

So in context, our intent is not to punish illegal alien "children"; our intent is to protect our own. You pro-illegals call it racist and hateful. I CALL IT PATRIOTIC AND SOVEREIGN.

It behooves the home countries of these "children" to provide for them, NOT US.

I called, my daughter called, her friends called. I have been emailing over 2 weeks now. I have done everything I can think to do. everyone pray tonight that the Senate will not sell the Country out to advance their careers. I am going to remain cautiously optimistic and even if the Senate passes it and Obamanation signs it we can pressure Congress to repeal and amend it after the new year. I hope we don't have to wage that war but I am not willing to surrender to Illegal Foreign Nationals getting amnesty because the Federal Government was derelict in their obligation to enforce the immigration laws. Hope everyone can get some sleep tonight.

seabass - Thanks for all you have been doing, be assured that many, many other have been doing the same. We are standing at the edge of a cliff here, each and every Senate vote is crucial to defeat this foul and vile legislation.
Our founding forefathers and all who have strived to the commitment of living by the rule of law are probably having some trouble sleeping also. Have mercy on the nation if this legislation passes for I fear that what might come next may well be armed insurection. Maybe not immediately, but sooner or later.
