I myself don't feel as though 250.00 is going to make up for what people are going to be loosing out on in there social security. There are so many people out there that depend on there s.s increases. What are they going to do now with just 250.00 one time payment?

Not so Joe. Believe the lye if you want. Your generation is not going to receive because they are NOT PUTTING IN.
No COLA in 2010? THEN HOW ABOUT HELPING THE ELDERLY AND DISABLED (THE MOST VULNERABLE IN THE ECONOMY RIGHT NOW)BY PAYING THEM BI-WEEKLY, INSTEAD OF MONTHLY. SPLIT THE PAYMENT BI-WEELY (OR EVERY TWO WEEKS) SO THAT THE RECIPIENTS DON'T HAVE TO WAIT A 30 DAY PERIOD FOR INCOME.
i am disabled and get social security payments monthly, rite now i can budget bills at the first of the month and get them paid.
your idea of splitting payments into bi--weekly is a bad plan, at least for me it would be.
i will use MR Obamas $250.00 dollars for bills or food, NOT a flat screen tv.

but you can bank on the fact that all government workers will in fact get their raises...I get ss and I still work so I am in fact still paying into the system as are many others.

Despite all the recent news coverage about public employees and the fact that right now they seem to be the medias favorite whipping boys... not ALL government workers have gotten a raise this year and many in fact are working without a contract. Don't believe everything you read. It isn't the same for everyone.

"GRATEFUL???" My wife (100% VA disability) just survived another operation in November, I would be more grateful if she had died in comparison to the added cost of what has to be provided @ home to keep her healthy enough to not drive 200 miles to the VA; who are responsible for her PICC line IV which is not working properly. I flush it twice a day, including the Heparin that is supposed to keep the reed valve near her heart free. Free to receive the 2 liters a day I have to drip into her two times in 5 hr intervals. NOTICE THAT I WROTE DRIP!!!!! It is supposed to be dripped by gravity (you do know what gravity is...I state that sardonically because I already know you have no understanding whatsoever of the disabled and the lives they live!!). I had to turn the valve up to just over 250ml an hr and never finished a full liter in over 12 hrs. They fixed that for me, oh yeah they had a powered meter pump to force it into her. Was that not wonderful of them? The pump was sent with no lines to hook her up, no instructions. I guess they expected me to remember the last time I had to use one. Well stupid me (I keep forgetting that I have short term memory loss and because of that I keep forgetting that I have long term memory loss) only remembers that those pump were designed to infuse small bags of fluid which are usually for a temporary period of time. OH YEAH, those small bags of anti-bodies or magnesium, calcium, etc. is supposed to fit into a bag designed just for them. Yep, they sent no bag, there is no way to hang the machine on my wife’s IV pole, no way to attach it to her body so she can get out of her hospital bed (I am so GRATEFUL for that bed) to use the bathroom (or whatever reason). Since she only has 4 to 5 ft of her intestines left she has to go to the bathroom several times an hr. You might GOOGLE “the human intestines” so you might understand how the body is supposed to work. I know you won’t ask, but the VA does not pay for the two to three rolls of toilet paper that she goes through in a 24hr period, or her raw butt (I’ll be sure to tell her to be grateful she has feelings down there, just for YOU! MORE TO COME!!

THE REST? OF THE STORY?
The major (in the extreme due to the blood clots on one side of her body) issue I am angry with is that I can't pull blood. Because of the HOLIDAYS her doctor(s) don't want to change the line. How am I celebrating the HOLIDAMDAYS? Every 3 hrs=meds, every 4 hrs=meds, then again @ the 6th hr I have to give a different med that is different than the previous 3 hr med. This is 24 hrs. a day. Now how about the doctors requirements for her nutrition that they insist that she needs, Guess what? The VA does not provide these because they are not medicines.
You know what, you are not worth any more of my time, and the immaturity in your statement is so asinine that the facts of my being a Vietnam Vet that the VA mostly ignores (mostly because I have been taking care of THEIR American Veteran for the past 30+ yrs that I just do not have the time to chase my rights down concerning my health). OH I AM SO SORRY!! I forget to mention that I must be grateful the VA does want to cut some more of my skin cancer on my hip January 6, I should be ashamed to deny them for the treatment that they are willing to do at reduced cost because of their generosity. I will have to pass up that offer because I got another offer. The one where I have to drive my wife the 200 miles one way for her follow-up appointment on her surgery and I am such a sorry excuse of a human being I just don’t feel grateful for an added 400 mile trip in the same week because it will cause me more hip pain than people like you have not experienced. HOW DO I KNOW THAT?? You would not have made such an unsympathetic argument.

SOCIAL SECURITY is your hard working money. It is not a government handout. YOU AND ALL THE OTHERS HAVE WORKED AND PUT IN TO THE SYSTEM. SO YOU CAN BY A FLAT SCREEN TV IF YOU CHOOSE.

Social Security is not WELFARE OR THE GOVERNMENT GIVING YOU A HANDOUT, IT'S YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY OVER THE YEARS YOU HAVE PUT IN.

Bi weekly may work for you, but the majority of the folks I have spoken with thought that might not be a bad idea.

Good that you can budget your money in that manner.

How do you budget $1000/mo. when your rent/mortgage is $800 (from taxes going up), How do you pay danny wegman, walmart or save a lot and eat? HOW THE HELL DOES ANYONE INCLUDING THE WORKING CLASS PAY RG&E? HELP FOR SENIOR CITIZENS AND THE DISABLED IN THE FORM OF $250 AND THEY MUST PAY TAXES ON IT, YUK! That's a start, but let main street get help too, ESPECIALLY THE WEAK AND VULNERABLE, WHICH BY THE WAY, YOU ARE NOT A GOVERNMENT RECIPIENT OF A HANDOUT IF YOU ARE DISABLED. YOU CAN'T COLLECT SSD, IF YOU HAVE NOT PUT IN. WRONG MENTALITY TO HAVE THE SSD IS A GOVERNMENT HANDOUT. IT'S NOT, IT'S YOUR MONEY!!!!!

Maybe not. The problem is that the majority of Americans are not working and therefore not contributing. This is what's going to dry the system up, not that there isn't enough.

IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU MAY BE GRANDFATHERED IN UNDER THE "OLD" SS LAWS AND RULES. I don't know if you have spoken with an attorney, since you indicate that you are close to an age of collecting, but it's worth checking into. There are so many people finding out that even with 400k or better with 401ks etc., THEY HAVE EITHER LOST EVERYTHING FROM THE FINANCIAL BANKING THIEVES, OR THAT THE FUNDS DIDN'T WORK IN THEIR FAVOR.

We take for granted that the money will be gone, but we don't contribute it to THIEVERY IN GRAND SCALES FROM THE BANKERS AND GOVERNMENT ROBBING THE PEOPLE AND SOCIAL SECURITY BLIND.

TOO MUCH MONEY IN THE POT TO EVEN BE COUNTED, LET A LONE COME UP MISSING!

Daily Horoscope for January 4

Leo

Even though you usually pride yourself on being the strong silent type, love has a way of unlocking your tongue. The words coming out of your mouth may be familiar, but your sense of timing makes all the difference right now. Keep in mind that you never know how a risky gesture will work out, although you can always hope for the best. When in doubt, take the more cautious path.
