Romney to make pitch to black voters at NAACP

Jul 11, 2012 Full story: KPLC-TV Lake Charles 85

Mitt Romney isn't going to win the black vote. But he's making a pitch to African-Americans at the NAACP's annual meeting, giving a major speech that's also aimed at showing independent and swing voters that he's willing to reach out to diverse audiences - and demonstrating that his campaign and the Republican Party he leads are inclusive.

Unfortunately Lonewolf, I think you're right. They, and a lot of others, think Romney is "for the rich" and Obama "for the poor or working class". And I've talked to some rather intelligent people, but they still don't see it any other way. They act like Obama lives just like they do and sit down to beans and wienies once a week, or that he personally is "in touch" and Romney is not. Quite amazing actually.

You’re half right… he is wasting his time; but we aren’t going to vote for him because bigots like you support the political Party that he has flipped over to because it’s the Party of convenience that gives him the opportunity to add the White House to his collection of houses, and because he is an empty suit who has no core beliefs other than liking to fire people.

I don't think anyone believes Romney is a racist. Elitist maybe.

He has equal unconcern for the poor and middle-class no matter what their color.

Remember 90% of his donations come from the ultra-rich.

Where his money is there his heart is.

==========
What's "amazing actually" it the fact that Obama gets 47% of his donations from the ultra-wealthy while Romney gets 90% of his donations from the ultra-wealthy.

So Obama has concern for those less fortunate than himself who cannot afford to eat caviar everyday as he can. Romney doesn't give a hoot about those less fortunate than him and his donations bear that out.

Obama has allegiance to all of the people as his donations show.

This speech has been scaring a lot of Democrats.

Romney should travel some city to city, delivering speeches in neighborhoods like Southside Chicago or South Atlanta. Bypass the self-annointed brokers and speak to the black community directly.

There are hundreds of thousands of black Republicans and many more black Independants who could be reached by Romney's message.

Blacks in the know, like Rev. Wright, Malik Zulu Shabazz, Louis Farrakhan and Cornell West etc., understand that Obama is nothing more than a puppet for the power structure and the power structure could care less about the black community.

Romney has an opening.

You are the one out of touch buddy. Romney gives 15%, or more, of his earnings to charity. And I don't care if all of it goes to the LDS church. Do you have a clue how much that church does for the poor, for people in their own churches, for the military, for people worldwide?

I absolutely do not agree with their doctrine, but man, they "got it going" on helping those in need. Take a peek...

Sending a Conservative into these areas will be expensive as far as security.
He is speaking to the Black community through the NAACP
Strange that Obama is not going to their meeting when he had 90 % support from them in the last election. The NAACP is NOT happy with Obama now,This just shows he is insensitive to their quest and feel that he doesn't have full support from them now so he abandoned them as he did the blacks in general.
Romney is at Houston giving a speach at the NAACP meeting and reaching out to the black comunity. Obama is a NO SHOW. What does that tell you
George Bush was elected twice, he knew how to campaign. A politician running for office should not allow his or her message to be brokered or edited by anyone, not the NAACP, local media, liberal media, conservative media, or even the RNC.
I don't think that most blacks even care to be brokered to. There are a lot of middle class conservative blacks who would love to hear what Romney has to say, without the NAACP, media, or security getting in the way.

Romney's message to the NAACP:

You belong in the back of the bus. I will represent billionaires and millionaires---even those that are black. But they still need to know their place.

Average Americans of any ethnicity are not even on my radar. They don't count. They're expendable. Their lives mean nothing to me. Which is why I have no conscience when it comes to sending their livelihoods overseas. I enjoy giving out pink slips. It makes me feel good.

That message came from your imagination and has been there for a long time. It didn't come from Romney.

Blacks won't vote for Romney for one reason.

HE'S WHITE. Period.

That would be "racism" for the rest of us.
