Something to note about Alaska Governor Sarah Palin on the gay/social issues side. She does oppose same sex marriage, but has stated on several times that she has gay friends and associates that work for her. Palin signed into law same sex benefits for the state of Alaska and when the leglislature tried to barr the state from granting same sex benefits, Palin vetoed the vote. Certainly, it is interesting in whom McCain chose. We should see how this plays out.

Found a forum that has been trying to draft Sara Palin for a while, so this one has a bunch of threads on what Democrats and Republicans both think of her. http://www.u4prez.com/ViewCaucus.aspx...

Interesting. I think McCain's choice is a step up from Mitt Romney or Huckabee or any number of the other losers that he was going to choose. This race has gotten a bit interesting.

Where is fairness and justice? After all the hard work, service, and vision that Hillary Clinton has poured into her years in politics and after all the abuse she has taken, the honor of being on a 2008 ticket goes to another woman. Just think, if Mr. McCain should win and stroke out during one of those infamous temper tantrums, a woman, a very undeserving one and AN inexperienced one, would become the President of the United States. No joy here for an Independent who was going to vote for Hillary and now supports Obama! DOES INSANE MCCAIN HE WILL ATTRACT HILLARY SUPPORTERS???

Great choice! I advise everyone to learn more about Sarah. She has a 80% approval rating as Governor! We are about to learn why Alaskans love her.

The moronic screeming convention mob. Either the hollow meaningless hogwash, or the blatant lies. The lying fake government statistics. The average american moron. The average ruthless complacent crook. And the pervasive corruption with which the real rulers of US control it all. I am utterly disgusted!

This vice presidential pick is pure unadulterated pandering designed to lure disgruntled Hillary supporters over to the republican side. I have never been so disgusted in my life. My only hope is that we as a nation can see through such a blatant bunch of hogwash. McCain = 4 more years of Bush’s doctrine. I am sure to ruffle a few feathers when I say this but to all of those angry Hillary supporters who are whining that they will vote for McCain simply because she did not get the democratic nomination… GROW UP. That kind of behavior is perfectly acceptable for a 5 year old who lacks a penchant for higher thinking. By the way… McCain wants to overturn Roe vs. Wade… basically saying that even though he has a woman as VP he is still going to eliminate a woman’s right to choose. This is a bunch of window dressing… I hope that people are smart enough to look behind the curtain.

to nhjeff,
The more comments I read on various websites the more comfort I feel. Apparently I may have been overly pessimistic. There are thinkers out ther after all.

this pick is brilliant, sarah is a fresh new face, very intelligent with a great history. i suspect she is going to be the dems. worst nightmare.the dems. first response was a big mistake insulting people from small towns and ignoring the fact that she is the govenor of a alaska. obama is kicking his own butt this morning for not picking hillery. this will pull a lot of women voters and bring back the conservatives.

She is a Governor and Commander-in-Chief. Obama is a community organizer and socialist.

I love it. The talking heads on the left are already saying that the pick of Mrs. Palin will not pull any of Hillary's supporters!?!

If anything he just insulted all of the women who voted for Hillary by basically telling them, "Yeah, I know you gals want to see a woman up there so here's one, even though she shares NONE of the same views as Hillary. But I know that doesn't matter to you gals, you just want to see someone with a skirt up there. So here you go... now vote for me." What a slap in the face.
