VP nominee Sarah Palin says daughter, 17, is pregnant

Talk about morality!! What a laugh! We have a president that drank his way through college and the White House (maybe) now the wonderful GOP has this. I am glad I am switching to no voting.

really, is this a big deal? a seventeen year old got pregnant, so what. she made a mistake, thought she was in love. not that i was voting for mccain anyway. the part that bothers me is that a mother would put her daughter in the position of being publicly humiliated in front of the entire world. that i have a problem with.

I understand a young can get pregant and it happens every day , but as a mother I tried my best to teach my teenage daughter that school first, and to plan for a future, I dont get this vp making this public and so proud of it, God forgive I am not judging her or her daughter but this I believe was too much information and really not a good role mentor or model for our teenagers that need to focus on other things in life.

Why do I have a wierd feeling that if the tables were turned and this were a Democrat VPs 17 year old daughter getting pregnant all of the Right Wing Bible-thumpers would be all over this talking about how immoral and unclean she is. They certainly wouldn't be cheering her on a some kind of hero.

Its funny, Jamie Lynn Spears gets pregnant and she's a Whiskey Tango trailer queen, this chic is a year older and in almost the same social position but she's getting applause.

It was public in their hometown, would have been put on some liberal blog. Liberal blogs had been posting that the Downs baby, born 4 months ago was actually the daughters. Lies and misinformation. I don't think they are proud of it, I think they are recognizing it and showing support for their daughter. It certainly sounds as if you are judging. Good for you that your daughter apparently didn't get pregnant, but as you said it happens everyday.

I am a democrat and look at my statement, it does not matter what party you belong to its the issues of it.

Why would a mother of a 4 month old downs syndome baby, and 17 year old daughter that is pregnant would put her family in such a national spotlight is beyond me. Her family welfare must come first and national political ambitions should have come 2nd.... period.

Actually, I have to retract my previous statement. I encourage ALL Right Wing Conservative republicans to allow their 17 year old daughters to get pregnant. As history has proven, having children when you are not old enough to handle the pressure is a quick ticket to the poor house, and a dose of reality is exactly what ALL of those people need. Maybe then we'll get a few things fixed in this country.

Also, this is going to be yet another teenage pregnancy being funded and raised on the backs of taxpayers, only this time it will live in the nice areas of DC and not Libery City. I thought republicans hated welfare.

Really I am not judging anyone my daughter just graduated from high school and is beginning college in Jan, I was so sad in seeing girls in her school get pregant and one of her friend did and drop out now she is into drugs and so lost, you this vp and her family are American figures that need to show what we want for our kids to do and have, yes its all good the support but try to understand that picture this as a american way of life. I does not have to be that way. About the baby being her daughters well you know people will invented or say things, but at the end the truth comes out all by itself.

I am a Conservative. I wouldn't think it was funny or go verbally postal if this happened to the Democrats.

And, by the way, you might want to check on how old Obama's mom was when she got pregnant.

Things like this happen to both parties.

Sorry I should have not laugh at drew anwser but the truth is that nomatter what parties we belong to this can happen and does happen to our teenagers daughter everyday, what parent of either parties should focus on is on how to avoid it happening in our own home.

The Palin clan comes across as sort of sad and unworldy, with the slight aroma of backwoods trailer. But really, they aren't the issue ... McCain's judgment is.

He made a shamelessly political choice, one that panders to the creationist nutjobs and the Ted Haggard crowd. In doing so, he has put his own ambition far, far ahead of America's good.

And now we begin to see that his choice was pretty badly flawed from the start. That tells us a lot about John McCain's abilities in 2008. Me, I'm not willing to bank on him getting any more rational for the
next four years. Exactly the opposite.

I have 3 daughters that I am raising.

Can anyone give me some suggestions how to raise them so this doesn't happen to them?

I'm afraid that I can't teach them myself. I need help. Are there any programs where I can have someone teach them for me?

We need better programs.
