McCain had criticized earmarks from Palin

For much of his long career in Washington, John McCain has been throwing darts at the special spending system known as earmarking, through which powerful members of Congress can deliver federal cash for pet ...

Obviously, John McBush is a closet liberal for doing or saying anything that could affect people's decision to vote for his running mate. The only choice is to vote for a man less liberal than McBush - Barack Obama.

This isn't something the Democratic Party should seize, because the mainstream media will file it as pork spending. Would anyone think Biden and, to a lesser extent, Obama haven't chewed some pork? The heart of this is more short-sightedness in picking Palin as a running-mate. Beyond the ploy to snap up alienated Clintonites, I just don't get it. But I am a simple man, awed by fire. It just seems McCain is simple, too, and hopes American women will vote for just any woman.

Congratulations Senator! Just like you and your constituents (on both sides of the isle) have bumbled through the last eight years, you have done it again. This is a classic example of a decision being made to further a political career, and not our functioning government. Shame on you for pretending this "rookie" was the best person for the job. You have lost my vote, and that truly is a trajedy.

So why is the article silent on whether Barack Obama voted in favor of any of these? Or is that just another inconvenient truth for liberal media agenda in favor of BHO? C'mon folks, a little even-handedness on reporting.

Bottom line: Palin is using her children as red herrings to draw attention away from her lack of qualifications.

"Earmarking," the process that gave us the construction on 294 and the Edens at the same time! Too bad it didn't give some money to that bridge that collapsed in the Twin Cities.

Maybe Pawlenty wasn't a good enough asker for money, and that's why he wasn't picked as McCain's VP. Or maybe he's just not cute enough. Or maybe he hasn't pledged to wipe out the polar bears, who just eat too darn much salmon and give those fishermen fits! Or maybe he's not got enough foreign policy experience, since his state only borders Canada and not Siberia, too. Or maybe he doesn't have enough cute kids and grandkids. Or maybe his wife isn't enough of a babe.

Or maybe with Pawlenty as the VP pick, people would be praying for McCain to keel over. NOW they're all going to be praying that McCain stays alive for the next four years!

And we all know what the power of prayer can do. Just ask Osama Bin Laden (if you can find him), since he's been praying not to be caught for the past 7 years, and by golly, he hasn't been!

Boyd, I highly doubt that. A person of her stature and position wouldn't dream of doing a shrewd thing like this. Hanging your kids out to dry because your resume wasn't beefy (or porky) enough. C'mon, even Drew Peterson wouldn't go that far.

The way John McCain went about selecting and failing to fully vet his running mate demonstrates his complete inability to function in an executive capacity. It does matter that he graduated 5th from the bottom of his class. It does matter that, in Viet Nam, he crashed his plane more often than he was shot down. It does matter that he cheated on his first wife with the rich heiress he married, even after having three children with his first wife. It matters that he is documented calling Cindy the "c" word in public. Everything we see demonstrates, more and more, that John McCain is not fit to be commander in chief, is not fit to be president, is not fit to lead. Having suffered as a POW, which I am sure he did, simply does not make him qualified to be president, nor does it entitle him to the job. Sarah Palin's "family values" are simply bizarre. Her lifestyle, which includes racy pictures of her on the web, multiple abuses of power, opportunistic switching of political positions and behavior which displays a vindictive nature, show her to be an inappropriate choice for VP and God forbid, president. This ticket would only make worse the disaster that has been the last 8 years under Bush/Cheney, if McCain was to be elected or appointed president of the United States. May God protect the United States from such a disaster.

Wasn't she just doing her job as a mayor and Govenor....looking to improve her town and state with Federal funds?? And wasn't McCain, then, doing his job as Senator...helping to decide the best way to direct Federal funds?? Checks & Balances??
How should this be a negative article against them??? Come on, Trib, why do you have to report negatively on Repubs all the time!!!

Now there's something difficult to imagine. A politician who takes whatever stance is convenient and may bring in the votes. Unheard of!

Maybe the Trib should post a list of all the earmarks that Obama, Durbin and Biden have added. That should be an interesting comparison.

Of course it would be unfair since Palin as a mayor and governor had no ability to add those earmarks to bills or vote on them.

Palin: More experience and scrutiny than Obama!

YA GOT THAT RIGHT!

But in time Palin will be completely exposed and then the public will see what a real nut case this woman is.

And how dangerous she can become.

I don't trust this person and have no respect for her.

She's an insult to motherhood and especially the Repubs favorite sham, FAMILY VALUES.

I want to be partial and base my opinion on Sarah Palin on her merits, but this article and her non-abstaining daughter make it harder and harder. What does she represent?? I also find myself questioning John McCain's judgement here. And it makes me wonder what else I should should quesiton his judgement on.

Just another of McCain's Flip Flops. Can you imagine McCain or Palin choosing Juctices to the Supreme Court? They would be deceivers, liars, same as they are. Our Rights would go to H in a handbasket.
