McCain pledges broad-based tax cuts

This is the first election in a long time where I am not drawn to either of the candidates. I guess since I figure that no matter who gets elected it will still be politics as usual, it's hard to get behind one of them.

2 The key difference is that Obama's plan has actually been thought through so that INCOME > EXPENDITURES, something the Republicans have demonstrated absolutely no competence in whatsoever. |

It says it all when ya see him on t.v. and ya see people whispering and laughing in the background when he says, "cut taxes"....
Most of us are not fooled at all. |

1 For example, Obama will cover 15 million illegal immigrants with federally subsidized health insurance, dramatically driving up costs and forcing federal rationing of healthcare. As in the U.K. and Canada, you will not be permitted certain medical procedures if the bureaucrats decide you are not worth it. Obama will legislate a 60 percent tax bracket for upper-income Americans, killing all initiative and innovation. He will raise the top bracket to 40 percent. He will apply FICA taxes to all income, not just that under $100,000 as at present. So add 40 percent plus FICA’s 12.5 percent plus Medicare’s 2 percent plus state and local taxes averaging, after deduction, at 5-6 percent, and you have a 60 percent bracket. Obama will double the capital gains tax, saddling the 50 percent of Americans who own stock with dramatically higher taxes. Obama will double the dividend tax, hitting elderly coupon-clippers now retired and depending on fixed incomes. Obama wants Homeland Security operatives to be required to notify terror suspects that they are under investigation within seven days of starting the investigation. Obama is bad, bad news for America. |

1 LOL I know Obama and his Kool Aid Kids don't like specifics, but let's take a look anyway. CAPITAL GAINS TAX MCCAIN 0% on home sales up to $500,000 per home (couples) McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax. OBAMA 28% on profit from ALL home sales DIVIDEND TAX MCCAIN 15%(no change) OBAMA 39.6% If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama becomes president. The higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market as American's cash out before the Obama penalty takes effect. INCOME TAX MCCAIN (no changes) Single making 30K - tax $4,500 Single making 50K - tax $12,500 Single making 75K - tax $18,750 Married making 60K- tax $9,000 Married making 75K - tax $18,750 Married making 125K - tax $31,250 OBAMA (new taxes) Single making 30K - tax $8,400 Single making 50K - tax $14,000 Single making 75K - tax $23,250 Married making 60K - tax $16,800 Married making 75K - tax $21,000 Married making 125K - tax $38,750 INHERITANCE TAX MCCAIN 0%(No change) OBAMA Restore the inheritance tax With each passing day, the "magic" of Saint Obama the Marxist is washing away and being replaced by the reality of a smug, smirking con man. |

1 Someone please enlighten me how that can be? Also, what ever happened to Nancy Pelosi's plan to reduce gas prices 2 years ago? |

If Senator McCain wants a debate about taxes in this campaign," Obama told supporters in Charlotte, N.C., "that's a debate I'm happy to have."
There is a typo in the story. The correct version is "that's a debate I'm AFRAID to have." put up or shut up already. Obama hasn't debated anyone since he got humiliated in PA. |

1 That bears repeating: Obama would cut taxes for ordinary people more than McCain would. According to the Tax Policy Center's analysis of the two candidates' tax plans, 80% of taxpayers would get more from Obama's cuts than from McCain's. About 95% of taxpayers would pay less under Obama than under current law (which ends many of the tax breaks passed in the past decade). You might not know this if you've been reading the business press or watching cable news. The coverage has tended to focus on Obama's plan to raise the tax on capital gains, rather than on his $500 across-the-board tax credit, or his proposal to extend the mortgage interest deduction to more taxpayers. The 2001 and 2003 tax cuts were tilted heavily toward the rich, who were supposed to return the favor by creating more jobs and investing in America's productive capacity. Unfortunately, the main impact of the tax cuts was to further widen the gap between the richest Americans and the rest of us. Job growth was extremely weak, as was capital spending. Doing nothing on taxes isn't really an option for the next president and the Congress he'll work with. Most of the tax breaks passed in 2001 were designed to self-destruct over the next few years. If Congress and the president don't act, taxes will go up for almost everyone. |

1 O'Malley just finished raising this couple's gas, sales and other taxes. Why is the first instinct of liberals to tax more and more? |

Well, Larry G. first let me set you straight about something. Obama has to win the election, do you have a crystal ball that says the majority of Americans will elect him? In your case, as smart as you are I am sure the answer is yes. No, I do not have to accept Obama or anyone else I do not feel is the best candidate. Unlike you and other liberals I have a brain and research the facts before speaking. And, who in the hell said anything about not wanting a black President. Any time someone says anything negative about Obama you liberal cry "racist." How about addressing Obama's attending the Trinity Church for 20 years and trying to sell the BS story he never saw this side of Rev. Wright and the rest of the congregation. Get real, he is a Harvard graduate and his wife graduated from Princeton. Are you telling me graduates from these 2 Ivy League schools are dumb? No, they are not. It was politically expedient for Obama to court the members of Trinity for his Chicago political career. Surely, you can't accept his lame excuse that he was never in the church and never heard Wright speak negative about white America. And, I guess you believe the Catholic Priest never spoke negative about white American. I have said this before (many times) you are a complete idiot and I am certain a person who doesn't have a good job career and is resentful that some WHITE Americans have been sucessful and achieved the American dream of becoming wealthy. Where in the Constitution or anywhere else does it say a person should not be rich. It is called the American dream and just because you obviously are to lazy to achieve it .... don't blame others. So stop your whinnnnning and go out and be sucessful. Let us "little girls" make up our own minds about Obama and his racist friends. Lunatic fringe ... if that means I am not like you, thanks for the compliment. I equate lunatic fringe as idiots like yourself. Go back to sleep.

"Obama is bad, bad news for America" AMEN! O'Malley just got finished picking our pockets. Obama wants to take 28% of income from investments. Add O'Malley and Md. County share and up to 40% of capital gain and dividend will be taken by government. Government does not share any of the risk. Some will not invest in stocks or in their own business with this level of tax. Why would you? Obama will also confiscate more of your equity from the sale of your home. He is bad news for our economy. |
|
|
Tax to Death, I agree with you. It is called "redistribution of wealth" and is related to communism. You know, where some work and the majority sit on their ass and do nothing. And, the Government takes their money to give to the entitled and lazy. All Democrats think that it is their duty to destroy the American dream concept so they can garnish votes from uneducated, lazy and the "entitled."
