I must say that I am offended that McCain picked a woman to be his running mate for (what appears to be) the purpose of "political grandstanding" and trying to "one-up" the Obama camp.

McCain, woman are smarter than this! And, I must say that I am very disappointed in you.

jeez, you are some serious woman haters. What's wrong, your mommy didn't breast feed you or maybe you all just gay. Maybe that's what all the fuss over Obama is about. You know what they say about black men...wink wink.

You know, Civil Rights aren't just about black people, discrimination based on age and gender counts too.

Be careful, you're treading on some murky hypocritical waters here.

McCain's first executive decision is to make a gimmicky pick to put a woman that has never taken stock of the job of president a heartbeat away from the job. This woman was still reeling at the fact that she was elected governor of Alaska and abusing her power as such to get her brother in law fired from his job when McCain whom she has never met, comes knocking on her door and asks her to take a job that she never even read the application for. McCain is already doing what he perceives to be best for him and not the country. I hope you idiots can take a clue and study this man's actions before you go vote for somoene that is willing to put the free world in the hands of a former beauty queen.

She's the Gov. of Alaska for Christ's sake, a state loaded with natural resources, and the area she wants to drill in is no bigger than LAX. She's also not an idiot that believes drilling will kill every animal in the arctic. Last time i checked Alaska was a pretty damn big place.

Zogby Poll: McCain up +2 over Obama based on poll taken post-Palin announcement (unlike Gallup):

From Zogby:
Released: August 30, 2008

Brash McCain pick of AK Gov. Palin neutralizes historic Obama speech, stunts the Dems' convention bounce

UTICA, New York - Republican John McCain's surprise announcement Friday of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate - some 16 hours after Democrat Barack Obama's historic speech accepting his party’s presidential nomination - has possibly stunted any Obama convention bump, the latest Zogby Interactive flash poll of the race shows.

The latest nationwide survey, begun Friday afternoon after the McCain announcement of Palin as running mate and completed mid-afternoon today, shows McCain/Palin at 47%, compared to 45% support for Obama/Biden. "

>>Why Did McCain Chose Palin?<<

He did it because he is very smart, sane, not shallow, is a former POW, war hero, Republican patriot non-liberal pro big brother forcing birth on women, God loving man of God who loves his Nation.

McCain really is much like Bush. I have come to realize his IQ is at the same level as Bush, and he is as sane as Bush.

McCain is a man of God as much as Pat Robertson, and everyone knows Robertson is a sane man of God not interested in money.

McCain will make a wonderful President of Alaska, and whatever her name is will make a great VP of that State.

He picks a new governor from a wilderness state with a populations of appox. 700,000 or so and was mayor of a town of 5,000. Their biggest worry up there is fishing. She has no clue about the rest of the country. They have to write her speeches and she practices to read them effectively only they are empty of meaning. She probably never even heard of McCain except on the news lately cause he is running for president.
She says....I hope they have something for me to do cause I like to keep busy. Does she think D.C is like Alaska???? Yoy..this is really a very backward person here bless her heart.
Besides she is a mother of 5 children--one grown and one a newborn baby...what is she thinking.
She is being investigated for misuse of power as governor and it doesn't look good. They have tapes of her director calling trying get a state trooper in trouble and fired cause this state trooper happens to be her ex-brother in law who is going through a messy divorce with her sister. Its really petty--mentions the trooper took the kids to school in his police vehicle and is this allowed. He is told not unless the supervisor give the permission. Don't tick this women off or you will lose your job.
Palin does not appeal to me cause she is too backward and she needs to get her children raised and best yet go back to Alaska and do that and keep her little political career there and then think of furthering her goals later.
McCain is using her with the hopes of getting Hillary supporters and I have no respect for him for doing that. There were plenty of female politicans to pick from that are far more educated and versed in the ways of Capitol Hill or the rest of this country for that matter. This women in no way comes close to the things Hillary Clinton has done in her life. She can no way hold a candle to Hillary.

Meredith,

It doesn't matter because Hillary supporters are pro choice. The McCain VP pick is for big brother forcing women to give birth against their will.
Hillary has 18 million voters that will vote for Obama, and Oprah has 40 million voters that will do the same. Obama has 60 million on his own with Biden. That is a landslide.

If at anytime near Election Day Obama is low in the polls, Oprah will do what she did when he was low in the polls against Hillary, and that is to get on her plane traveling State to State, and be sure, he will then be 20 points ahead on Election Day.

Oprah is really running this show, and she never loses.

The Congress is set for a liberal landslide as well. Obama will become the most powerful President in history because if you remember, Hillary is the one that said she would give back Presidential powers that Bush stole. Obama didn't say he will give those back, and he will have a huge liberal, and Democratic majority in both Houses.

Obama will say jump, and Republicans will ask how high?

Are you kidding me, Obama is LOSING in many recent polls. At best, he's in a tie with McCain.

And do you not read the news regarding Oprah, lol?? Oprah has almost commited carreer suicide over her overt Obama support. After never posting a loss in ratings since 1986, her ratings instantly dropped by 33% after endorsing Obama. Offending her primary audience of Hillary supporters, Oprah handed over the "Queen of TV" role to Ellen as 47% of viewers now support Ellen compared to a meager 14% who currently support Oprah. This is the reason she has dialed down the Obama support on her show in a BIG way.
Her magazine sales of O have bombed also due to the Obama supprt.

America wants change and I am a former Hillary supporter and a woman. I will not vote for McCain. This latest ploy is so blatant. He thinks 18 million women are so dumb that all they want is a woman? Well, I don't want a mother of five, who just gave birth a few months ago to a special needs child. Obviously, she does not put family first over her own ambitions. What...the other kids have to be nanny to the baby? I am sure she spends so much quality time with them, yeah right. Lady, you need to take care of your own family and give the one on one attention your children need. I feel very sorry for her representation of "family values" - she can't even devote her time to her children. Biden at least made sure he was home in Delaware at night and that his children knew they came first - not his "career". She certainly can't claim to be a real mother.

How can anyone who supports Obama criticize Palin's experience. She is the only candidate with real executive/domestic affairs experience which Barack has none. She has limited Foreign Affairs experience in dealing with Russia, Japan and Canada on a daily basis, when Barack has no international affairs experience either. This is the reason why Obama didn't jump on Palin's experience in his new commercials with Palin today.

All that Obama can boast is mediocre "community organizer" experience. And he's on the top of the ticket! Palin has both more domestic and international affairs experience than Obama, haha.
